Chapter 546 The Plan Unfolded

As Reese finished finalizing the hospital arrangements, she was discussing the details with Malcolm when her phone buzzed with a call from Sebastian. Unlike before, she didn't hesitate to pick up. "Did you two come to an agreement?" she asked.

"Reese, you're clearly setting me up. You know how much I was into that car. I bet if you saw it, you'd be impressed too. But I didn't even get to see it in person, let alone touch it, before Alyssa took it," Sebastian complained as soon as Reese answered the call.

"You must have reached some sort of understanding with her. Alyssa didn't force you at knifepoint. Despite not knowing the details, but you, as the Mr. Hawthorne of the Hawthorne family, are a grown man. You can't go back on your word. Once you've agreed, you need to stick to it," Reese stated.

"Reese, am I that kind of person?" He had called her with the intention of showing his concern.

"So, it seems you you've found a car to your liking as well." Reese knew her garage inside out, and she was certain Sebastian would discover a vehicle that suited him perfectly.

Hearing Reese's confident tone, Sebastian was certain that she had already guessed the outcome. "So, Reese, you knew all along, didn't you? You knew Alyssa would succeed if she came to me, right?"

"It's not that I have confidence in you; I have confidence in my cars," Reese declared, a tinge of pride evident in her voice.

After years of meticulously collecting those cars, Reese knew there wasn't another collection like hers in all of Atlanta. Having observed Sebastian's taste in cars, she had a pretty good idea of his preferences. That was why, when suggesting Alyssa to approach him, she didn't do so without reason. Reese had carefully considered the situation and predicted that Sebastian would indeed agree.

Sebastian couldn't help but commend Reese, "You never cease to amaze me. Your foresight is uncanny. It appears there is no escaping your keen observation."

Hearing Malcolm calling her, Reese said to Sebastian, "Something is up, and I have to go. Bye." With that, she hung up the phone.

Sebastian barely had time to react before the call was disconnected. He stared at the phone, muttering, "I was just going to mention that there's another car in your garage. Let's schedule a time to meet and grab a meal to discuss..." However, before he could finish his sentence, the call had already ended.

'Oh well, the car is still there. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet Reese in the future,' Sebastian comforted himself.

Reese put away her phone and walked over to Malcolm.

Malcolm said, "I've almost got everything arranged here. The word is out. If things go well, Vincent will take action in the next couple of days."

Reese nodded. "Okay, I got it. If you're all set, you're good to go."

Malcolm was still a bit worried. "Are you sure you'll be okay here alone?"

"It's fine. Even if I can't see right now, it doesn't matter. If Vincent really comes in, I'll still be able to sense it," Reese replied. She was quite confident about this, knowing that Vincent's skills were not as good as hers.

"The problem is, he might not come himself. Given Vincent's cautious nature, he wouldn't take action personally. He'll definitely send someone skilled to deal with you. If your eyes were fine, I wouldn't worry. But I'm afraid he might try something underhanded..." Malcolm said as he suddenly regretted his suggestion. There were other ways to deal with Vincent, but this method was swifter and would promptly reveal Vincent's true intentions.

Seeing Malcolm being so verbose, Reese couldn't help but push him. "Can you stop talking so much? Once we've decided, we should stick to it. If you dwell on every little fear, you'll never get anything done."

In contrast to Malcolm, Reese exuded unwavering determination. She possessed a clear vision of her goals and charged forward without a hint of hesitation.

Seeing Reese so resolute, Malcolm couldn't insist. With his wife showing unwavering determination, he felt compelled to match her resolve; any wavering on his part would risk diminishing his reputation.

Recognizing Malcolm's apprehension, Reese understood that his hesitation stemmed from his concern for her. Familiar with his steadfast character, she was certain that if their positions were reversed, he would display unwavering determination. His wavering was solely due to her involvement in the situation. Nevertheless, having overcome far more daunting challenges in the past, she remained unperturbed by the current circumstances.

"Alright, but you must ensure your safety," Malcolm compromised.

"Okay, why are you so naggy now? Go back. If anything comes up, call me or have the doctor here notify me," Reese replied.

But if she had to take a call, there might be a time limit. Someone would need to keep an eye on Vincent's side; otherwise, if he really sent someone over, they might not get any warning.

Malcolm nodded. "I know. Don't worry. I'll arrange everything here. You just need to lie down and rest. We'll have someone positioned discreetly under your bed, and I've also set up hidden cameras in your room."

Upon hearing Malcolm's meticulous arrangements, Reese couldn't help but smile wryly. "It's really not necessary. I can handle it alone."

She had faced much tougher situations before, let alone dealing with someone like Vincent, which was no challenge at all.

Unbeknownst to her, Malcolm's decisions were made out of genuine concern for her safety. He harbored deep worries about his wife being in harm's way and would have preferred to be the one targeted by Vincent. Vincent's fixation on Reese as his primary target stemmed from his belief that her demise would inflict the most significant blow. However, littledid Vincent know, he wouldn't get the chance to harm Reese. From the moment Vincent had this idea, he was already wrong.

Malcolm didn't say much more. After spending some time with Reese and making sure everything was in order, he left.

Meanwhile, Vincent received the news, and Everly was right beside him.

Vincent asked in disbelief, "Are you sure? Is Reese really on her deathbed in the hospital?"

"Absolutely. The hospital is in chaos. You know how Malcolm is. They're planning surgery for tomorrow to see if it can be successful. If not, it will be over."

Vincent tightened his grip on his phone, his fingers clenching tightly. "Who has the patience to wait for her surgery? If she makes it through, all my painstaking efforts will have been for nothing."

The person on the phone asked, "So what do you want to do?"
