Chapter 455 You're Tricking Me into Having a Baby
Everly looked at Malcolm with tears in her eyes, her voice choked as she asked, "Do you really want me to leave?"
Malcolm's expression was indifferent, his emotions showing no fluctuation. "You are no longer suited to stay here."
Everly stopped pleading. She knew that once Malcolm made a decision, it wouldn't easily change.
She wiped away her tears with her hand. "Fine, you said it. Don't regret it! I will always remember this day, how you drove me out for a woman you've known for just a year."
She thought that no matter what, she and Malcolm had grown up under the same roof. With so many years of affection, he wouldn't just throw it all away.
After speaking, Everly dragged her luggage and walked out of the Flynn family home.
After Everly left, Alyssa finally dared to speak, "Malcolm, by doing this, she will hate you for a lifetime."
Everly wasn't very well-liked usually, always causing trouble for Reese. Even when others didn't want to have conflicts with her, Everly would still go out of her way to provoke Reese.
However, she was still very strong-willed. Now being driven out in such a manner, she would definitely resent the Flynn family even more, and especially Reese. She would think it was because of Reese that she was driven out.
"It doesn't matter. As long as she can live her life peacefully in the future. Holding onto unnecessary obsessions will only affect her."
Alyssa understood that Malcolm was doing this for Everly's own good, but Everly might not understand it now.
Oh well, the decision had been made, and it was futile to dwell on it.
"Alright then. You should go upstairs and keep Reese company," Alyssa suggested.
"Okay, keep an eye on Everly. If she needs anything, help her," Malcolm said.
"You still care about her," Alyssa replied.
After all, they had grown up together, and they had long considered Everly as family. If she hadn't done those things, he wouldn't have made her leave.
Malcolm didn't say anything and went upstairs. Reese had just finished her bath and walked out, seeing his gloomy expression.
She wiped her hair with a towel. "What's wrong?"
"I had Justin send Everly away. As long as you two don't meet at work, there shouldn't be any more problems," he said.
Reese raised her eyebrows at his words, her eyes flickering with complexity. "Actually, you didn't have to make her leave. We could have moved out."
That way, Everly wouldn't be hurt.
But Malcolm shook his head. "Grandpa is getting old now. I want to spend more time with him. As for Everly, if she ever comes to her senses, I'll let her come back."
"Alright then, let her calm down outside for a while. She is deeply in love with you, after all. It's rare for a girl to like someone for so long. Her hatred towards me stems from her love for you."
Reese didn't want to do anything to her either. It was just that Everly had chosen the worst time today. The Hawthorne family was what she disliked the most, and Everly had used her most sensitive spot to attack her.
Malcolm was more distressed for Reese. The relatives she loved the most had already passed away. She had barely found out she had a biological father, only to be rejected by him. Her half-brother treated her like a thief.
The Hawthorne family probably didn't even know that this was the current Reese. If it had been the old Reese, the Hawthorne family wouldn't have been able to hurt her like this. They would have been crushed to dust.
Reese probably never expected that after showing her softest side, others would use her vulnerability to hurt her.
Thinking about this made Malcolm's heart ache. He pulled Reese into his arms, his eyes filled with worry for her. "Reese, I apologize on Everly's behalf."
Reese shook her head. She wasn't one to hold grudges, especially when the party at fault had already been punished. "No need to apologize to me."
"No, it's my fault. Everly is my sister. Her hurting you is related to me. Reese, you don't have to put on a strong front in front of me. You can show your vulnerability and helplessness. I don't want you to live with a mask. At least in front of me, you can be your true self."
Malcolm's words made Reese's heart sink. She didn't know what to say. She had always relied on herself. But now, for some reason, there was someone silently protecting her.
It made Reese start to feel dependent, even thinking that this person could be relied upon.
Malcolm was the only person over the years who had tried to open her heart and succeeded.
Reese lowered her eyes, her voice tinged with sadness. "You know, someone once treated me like you do, protecting me in everything. I thought I was worthy of love, but in the end, reality proved otherwise."
Since then, she no longer wanted to rely on anyone. The pain of having her heart ripped out and trampled on was something she never wanted to feel again.
Malcolm knew. He knew all about the betrayals, abandonment, and deceit Reese had endured. This only strengthened his resolve to be good to her.
This time, Malcolm wouldn't let go of Reese's hand. He would give her a complete home.
Malcolm's eyes were sincere and serious, an earnestness that couldn't be ignored. "Don't worry, I won't. I'll always be with you. If I ever betray you, you can kill me. I believe you have the ability and the heart to do it."
Reese was inexplicably amused by Malcolm's words. "If you ever betray me, I wouldn't kill you, but I would make sure you never find me again, as if I disappeared from your life."
"Don't talk nonsense. It won't happen. Trust me, one last time. I'll prove it with my actions," Malcolm said earnestly.
"Alright, go take care of your own things. I need to rest."
Reese didn't want to make the atmosphere so serious. Everly's situation had already affected Malcolm, and discussing such heavy topics would only make it worse.
A shrewd look flashed in Malcolm's eyes, and before Reese could react, he scooped her up in his arms. "I think the most important thing right now is to have a baby with you. That way, you'll be at ease."
Reese was so startled by his words that she almost jumped out of his arms. "What did you say? You want me to have a baby? No way, no way, I won't do it."
"Why? Is my charm not enough to make you want to have a baby with me? Reese, think about it. I'm good-looking, you're beautiful, our child would be amazing. Just imagine..." Malcolm said convincingly.
Reese didn't say anything.
She suspected Malcolm was tricking her into having a baby.
