Chapter 528 Calvin Missing

Nolan slammed the phone down, leaving Sofia stunned. He was being unreasonable, asking her to do the impossible. Reese was so guarded; how could anyone get her to open up?

Getting close to Reese would already make her suspicious. Now, asking about Everhart was like walking into a trap.

Sofia glanced at her grandmother in the hospital bed, torn. If not for her grandma's illness, she would've returned Nolan's money and never taken this job.

Just then, the doctor walked in. "Sofia, we'll schedule your grandmother's surgery in a couple of days."

"Really? So she'll get better soon?" Sofia asked, surprised.

"If the surgery goes well, there shouldn't be any problems."

"Thank you, doctor."

"Don't thank me. Just make sure the surgery fee is paid on time. Otherwise, it might not have been scheduled so quickly."

Sofia felt a wave of relief. If she hadn't taken the money, her grandmother might not have had this chance. The thought made her shiver.

After the doctor left, Sofia decided to call Reese.

Reese was surprised to hear from Sofia. "What's up?" she asked calmly.

"Are you free tomorrow?" Sofia asked.

"Tomorrow's pretty busy. I've been swamped lately," Reese replied.

Sofia hesitated. "I need your advice on something. Can we meet in person? Just for half an hour?"

Reese, usually reserved, felt inclined to help Sofia because of her past kindness. "Alright, but it has to be near the office. I have a project meeting tomorrow."

Sofia was thrilled. "Thank you, Reese."

"No problem. I need to get back to work now."

"Okay."

Reese hung up, and Malcolm, half-awake, reached out to her. "Sweetheart, who was that?"

"Sofia. She wants to see me tomorrow. Says it's urgent," Reese said, snuggling into Malcolm's arms.

Malcolm, surprised to hear Sofia's name after a week, sensed something was up. "Did you notice anything odd the last time you saw her?"

"No, just minor issues," Reese replied, thinking back.

"Maybe she hasn't achieved her goal yet. Keep an eye on her," Malcolm suggested.

Sofia wasn't dumb. Even if she needed something, she wouldn't reveal it right away.

Reese nodded. "Alright, I'll see how things go tomorrow." She still needed to verify if Sofia had any real issues.

Malcolm hugged her tightly, kissed her hair, and patted her back. "Goodnight," he whispered.

"Goodnight, honey."

They fell asleep in each other's arms. Reese always slept soundly with Malcolm.

The next morning, Reese woke up to find Malcolm already gone. The bed beside her was cold, indicating he'd left a while ago.

She checked the time and realized she needed to get moving. Just as she was about to get out of bed, her phone buzzed with a message from Sebastian.

A cute emoji, followed by a greeting.

Sebastian: [Reese, u up?]

Reese ignored it and went to wash up. When she returned, there was a flood of messages from Sebastian. Without reading them, she deleted them all.

Was Sebastian bored? Sending so many messages without a single reply.

As she was about to leave, Sebastian called her.

Reese felt like she might punch him if she saw Sebastian rigth now.

She answered, her voice sharp. "Sebastian, one more word and I'll block you."

"Reese, did you get the breakfast I ordered for you?" Sebastian ignored her anger.

Reese clenched her fists. "No."

"It should be arriving soon. Eat it before you get busy. It's a love-filled breakfast from me," Sebastian said, unfazed by her anger.

On the verge of losing it, Reese snapped, "I don't need your love-filled breakfast!" and hung up.

How annoying!

As she stepped out, she saw a delivery person looking around. Reese had a bad feeling and tried to walk past quickly.

"Excuse me, are you Reese?" the delivery person called out.

"You got the wrong person," Reese said, waving him off.

"But there's a photo here. I think it's you. Someone ordered breakfast for you," he insisted, handing her the breakfast. She reluctantly accepted it.

"Have a nice day," he said, riding off.

Reese looked at the breakfast items, feeling like she had a whole cafe's worth. She wanted to toss it but hated wasting food. So, she put it in her car and drove to the secret base.

When Ryan and the others saw her, they were excited.

"Reese, Reese..."

"I brought you breakfast. Share it," she said, putting the food on the table.

"Oh my God, Reese, thank you so much!"

"Thanks, Reese."

"Reese, what made you think of buying us breakfast today? Did one of your suitors send it?"

"No," she replied. If it were from a suitor, she might have thrown it away.

Louis came down from upstairs. "Reese, when is Calvin coming back? I haven't been able to reach him for the past couple of days."

Hearing Calvin's name, Reese quickly dialed his number. The first call went unanswered, making her nervous.

Could something have happened?
