Chapter 519 There Are Plenty of Cars

Malcolm shook his head. "No, but I'm happy with the outcome."

Louis laughed at the unintended consequences. Everhart really messed up by provoking Malcolm.

Malcolm and Reese had one thing in common: they were quick to get even. They believed in settling scores immediately, never letting anyone off easy.

Everhart, having recovered, walked over to Malcolm with a murderous glare. "Malcolm, you did that on purpose, didn't you? What did I ever do to you?"

Malcolm's face turned cold, making everyone uneasy. Everhart had to admit, Malcolm's presence was intimidating, especially when he looked at you like that.

Everhart never thought Reese would team up with someone like Malcolm. They made a powerful pair, and he doubted Reese would find a better match.

But Everhart's possessiveness wouldn't let them be together. In his mind, Reese was his. If he hadn't chosen money over her in the past, he would be the one by her side now. The thought of Malcolm with Reese made him uneasy.

Lost in thought, Everhart didn't see Malcolm's move. In a flash, Malcolm grabbed Everhart by the throat, his eyes blazing.

Reese was shocked. "Honey..."

"Mr. Flynn!"

Neither expected Malcolm to act so quickly. Even Reese, usually alert, didn't see it coming.

Everhart was taken aback but hated Malcolm. If not for Malcolm, he might have won Reese back. His fear was overshadowed by anger, making him defiant.

He sneered, "Mr. Flynn, do you really think you can kill me here? We live in a society with laws, unless you're pulling all the strings."

Malcolm's eyes were cold, sizing up Everhart like an insect. "Everhart, do you think I'm stupid enough to kill you? I'm warning you, stay away from my wife. I know why you approached Dahlia. You want to get close to Reese, maybe even get Dahlia pregnant so the Brooks clan will turn to her for help," Malcolm said with a steely edge.

Louis, nearby, was shocked and almost applauded. He said to Reese, "Reese, your husband is amazing. He figured it all out."

He hadn't realized Everhart had put in so much effort for Reese. It seemed Reese's charm was indeed unique.

Reese was at a loss for words. The complex situation left her feeling awkward. She refused to believe Everhart's involvement with Dahlia was all about her. The whole scenario left her baffled and uncertain.

What did Dahlia have to do with her? Maybe people used to think they were sisters, but now that it was clear she wasn't part of the Brooks family, why would Everhart still see Dahlia as a stand-in for her? It was hard to understand.

Everhart was stunned. Malcolm had quickly unraveled his scheme. Usually, his plans weren't so easy to figure out. He had to admit, Malcolm's perceptiveness was impressive. Despite just meeting Malcolm that day, he had already deciphered Everhart's intentions.

Reeling from this, Everhart fell silent.

Malcolm knew Everhart had tacitly admitted it. He never doubted his guess. Why else would Everhart suddenly approach Dahlia? Given his personality, Dahlia shouldn't be his type.

And with so many women, why specifically Dahlia? All these doubts pointed to one reason.

Just then, Reese's phone rang. It was Sebastian. Concern crept into her thoughts. "Hey, how's it going? Is everything alright?" she asked anxiously.

It was noisy on Sebastian's end, hinting that the police were likely there.

"Nothing serious, no one's dying. But the others are pretty beat up; they're all at the hospital now," Sebastian replied.

Reese chuckled, "But your car might be confiscated."

Modified cars weren't allowed. Driving one was fine if you didn't get caught, but if you did, it would be confiscated.

Sebastian pretended to be nonchalant. "It's fine, I have plenty of cars. Losing one is no big deal."

"Mr. Hawthorne, that car is your favorite. You treat it like your life."

"Shut up!"

Reese heard the conversation. To a passionate racer, their car wasn't just a machine—it was an extension of their being, a manifestation of their dedication and love for the sport.

She understood Sebastian's feelings and offered, "I have a car you can try."

Sebastian exclaimed, "Really? Reese, you have a car?"

"Yes, but we'll see if you like it."

"I'll like it. If it's your ride, it's gotta be good. This is great, a blessing in disguise. Reese, those people are gone, you can relax now."

Sebastian instantly turned into a sycophant. If Reese were there, he would have rushed to hug her. But given the situation, he'd save that for later.

Reese sincerely thanked Sebastian, "Thanks to you, otherwise I would have been in a tough spot. I'll have someone bring the car over for you. If you don't like it, we can look at others."

Sebastian was shocked. "Reese, does that mean you have a lot of cars?"

"Not really, I just liked collecting and tinkering with them in the past." Reese's nonchalant tone made her bold statement sound effortlessly humble, as if she were discussing the most ordinary of hobbies.
