Chapter 520 Revenge
Sebastian figured even if his car got taken, it was worth it to get closer to Reese.
'This trip was worth it,' he thought.
"Reese, how about I come by in a few days when you're free, and you can show me around? Deal?" Sebastian's excitement hid a bit of nervousness as he waited for her answer.
He knew this was a big chance to connect with Reese and didn't want to mess it up. She wasn't easy to approach.
Reese sensed his careful tone and saw his genuine love for cars. Though she didn't like the Hawthorne family, she wasn't heartless. She saw this as a chance to return a favor.
"Alright, I'll call you in a few days when I'm free," she said.
"Okay. Don't worry about the car; I have insurance," Sebastian replied.
"If there's any loss, let me know, and I'll send you the money," Reese added. She hated owing people and preferred to settle things directly.
After hanging up, Reese told Malcolm, "Sebastian's almost done over there. Let's take Everhart back now."
Louis asked, "Reese, where are you taking him? You can't take him to the Flynn family. If Nolan finds him, it'll be trouble."
Reese realized Louis was right. They needed a safe place for Everhart, somewhere secure and well-guarded. He was tricky and could escape easily.
Malcolm suggested, "I know a place where he won't get out."
Louis was curious. "Mr. Flynn, no matter how good your place is, Nolan won't give up if he doesn't find Everhart. He has a big network, and if he sends a team to grab Everhart, we might not react in time."
That was the main worry.
Malcolm was confident. "Don't worry. This place is so secure, even Nolan would think twice before trying anything. And if he does get in, getting out won't be easy."
Reese smiled. "You're talking about Giedon's place, right?"
Malcolm nodded. "You're always sharp. That's why I can't do without you."
Louis understood. "Ah, the Harmony Alliance. Nolan wouldn't dare go there. He wouldn't think you'd hand Everhart over to them."
Reese thought it was a good idea. Giedon and Nolan had a long-standing feud and avoided each other.
Seeing it was getting late, she worried Nolan might come looking for them.
"Let's go quickly," Reese urged.
"Alright, Louis, you drive. Reese, you ride shotgun. I'll keep an eye on him in the back," Malcolm said, clearly uneasy. Having Everhart near his wife made him uncomfortable.
Louis noticed Malcolm's rare hint of jealousy. If he could see it, so could Reese. She didn't want to sit with Everhart either, so she agreed, "Alright."
Everhart watched Reese and Malcolm's bond with a pang of discomfort. Reese had chosen Malcolm, and any hope he had of winning her back was gone. She had moved on and found love again, something he had never experienced with her.
Everhart struggled with his feelings. Was it love or just possessiveness? Either way, seeing Reese with someone else hurt deeply, like a heavy stone in his chest.
He knew if he went to Giedon's place, escape would be impossible. But as long as Nolan couldn't find him, he had a chance to survive and turn things around. The thought of being caught by Nolan terrified him; he would be a broken mess.
At the Harmony Alliance, Louis joked with Everhart, "See that? That's Nolan's place. If you don't cooperate, Reese will send you there. You know how ruthless Nolan is. You don't want that, right?"
Everhart was defiant. "If I talk, I'm as good as dead."
Louis tried to reason with him. "Think about it. Sooner or later, you'll have to talk. It's just a matter of who you tell."
Reese was easier to deal with than Nolan. If Everhart ended up with Nolan, he was doomed.
Everhart stayed silent, which made Louis want to punch him.
Reese saw Louis's anger. Everhart had caused them a lot of trouble, but now wasn't the time for a confrontation. When he finally speaks up, she'll settle every score.
She pulled Louis aside and said, "Let's go inside first."
Louis nodded. "Alright."
Inside, Giedon was waiting, having received Malcolm's message. He stood up and said, "Looks like you had a successful trip, but I don't have a banquet to welcome you."
Malcolm sat down. "No need for a banquet. We're leaving soon. We need you to keep an eye on someone."
Giedon looked at Everhart. "Isn't this Everhart, who used to be with Nolan? How did you bring him here?"
