Chapter 439 Grasp Her Vulnerabilities
Reese didn't know what to say, so she stopped asking.
"If you need any help, just let me know," Reese added.
After all, she had long wanted to eliminate Nolan, but she never had the confidence or the means to do so. Now that Malcolm had brought it up, she was indeed tempted. Doing it alone might have been too risky and likely to fail. However, with Malcolm and Giedon, they might succeed.
Combining the power of three to eliminate Nolan could work if the plan was thorough.
At that time, Reese could also make Nolan tell her the truth about her grandma's death.
Such a win-win situation suddenly seemed worth a try. Even if they failed, Nolan wouldn't dare to retaliate against all three of them alone, which would ensure his defeat.
News of Reese's plans quickly reached Nolan. Hearing it, Nolan threw his cup across the room, shattering it and startling his subordinates.
Joseph Anthony, seeing Nolan's rage, quickly tried to calm him down. "Nolan, don't get angry. We haven't figured out the details yet. Maybe something unexpected happened. Hugo usually sticks close to Nolan, how could this..."
But Nolan knew better. He had never fully trusted Hugo or anyone else there. If anyone threatened his interests, he would eliminate them without hesitation.
Nolan asked Joseph with a grim face, "How did Reese manage to rescue them? Didn't Hugo have a lot of men with him?"
Joseph lowered his head, hesitant to speak.
Nolan roared in frustration, "Answer me!"
"Hugo... Hugo did take a lot of men, but Malcolm detained them all. None of them have returned yet." Joseph lowered his head even more, fearing Nolan's wrath might turn on him.
Nolan's anger was about to explode and was ashen-faced.
"Malcolm is just like his uncle, always looking for trouble with me! He ruined my plans. What does Everhart have to do with him that he would intervene?" Nolan shouted.
Joseph, who had been with Nolan for a long time, was also puzzled by Everhart's situation.
"Indeed, it's strange. Everhart had harmed Reese before, so why would Malcolm help Everhart now? The wealthy are hard to understand," Joseph added.
Nolan wasn't focused on that now. He was more concerned about his men. Where had Malcolm taken them?
He ordered Joseph, "Go find out where Malcolm took our men."
"Yes, I'll go right away." Joseph took the opportunity to leave quickly, knowing Nolan's anger could turn on him at any moment.
Reese and Malcolm hadn't kept their actions a secret from Nolan. They wanted him to know.
So Joseph returned within minutes.
Nolan asked, "Where are our men?"
"They... they were all sent away by Malcolm's assistant, each given a lot of money," Joseph replied.
"What!" Nolan was shocked. "Is Malcolm crazy?"
Joseph stammered, "Maybe... maybe it's because he has too much money."
The world of the wealthy was beyond his understanding.
Nolan was furious.
Joseph, panicking, asked, "Nolan, what do we do now? Malcolm took many of our long-time men. Though we still have many people, they're all new and not trustworthy."
Nolan was even more troubled. He hadn't expected so much trouble over Everhart, costing him many of his men.
"What do we do now?" Joseph asked.
"Now..." Nolan was momentarily at a loss. The situation had escalated so suddenly that no one had expected Malcolm to pull such a move.
Joseph didn't press Nolan, understanding the urgency of the situation. They needed time to react.
After a moment, Nolan spoke again, still unwilling to give up. "It's all Everhart's fault. If not for him, we wouldn't have lost so many men. Even if you have to turn Atlanta upside down, find him and tear him apart!"
"Yes," Joseph replied.
"And bring Vincent here," Nolan said.
It seemed he had no choice but to temporarily cooperate with Vincent. Otherwise, the situation might threaten his position.
Joseph nodded. "I'll go right away."
Vincent, still at the clinic, received Joseph's call and knew why Nolan wanted to see him.
It seemed his plan to secretly help Everhart escape was working.
By forcing Reese and Malcolm to confront Nolan directly, Nolan would feel threatened and more inclined to cooperate with him. If he had considered it before, now he was even more convinced.
Vincent left the clinic and went straight to Nolan's place.
When he arrived, Nolan was sitting in the living room, looking troubled.
Vincent approached, and after a brief exchange of pleasantries, they sat down. Nolan explained the situation to Vincent.
Vincent wasn't surprised. "That's what Malcolm should do. He always seeks revenge, especially when his wife is involved. If it weren't for Reese, he might not be so aggressive. At most, he would just teach your men a lesson."
This was Vincent's way of telling Nolan that Reese was their biggest obstacle.
Nolan understood Vincent's implication. "I thought Reese might be useful, but now it seems she's useless."
To him, a useless person had to be eliminated.
"The problem is Reese is hard to deal with now, especially with Malcolm behind her. It's even harder to get to her," Nolan added.
Vincent handed over a document. "Do you know this person, Sofia Hayden?"
Nolan took the document and glanced at it. "What's with this person?"
"A friend of Reese from college, very close. Reese even asked Malcolm to find her a job. Does Reese seem like someone who would go out of her way for others?" Vincent seemed to remind Nolan.
"So, in your opinion..." Nolan added.
