Chapter 481 Too Noisy
Reese shot Justin a quick look and explained bluntly.
"If someone wants to help, you won't need to ask. If they don't, asking won't change a thing."
The situation was crystal clear, but she still couldn't believe Rodolfo was just blowing her off. Ever since he got his current gig, he'd been sending her fancy gifts every holiday. She never accepted them, but it was still a nice gesture.
Justin glanced at the big, intimidating gate, feeling torn.
"So, what now?"
"Let's head back for now. There are other ways."
Reese seemed calm, but Justin was a bit rattled since their plan had just gone up in smoke.
"Mrs. Flynn, do you have another plan?" Justin asked, shocked.
Reese always seemed to have a trick up her sleeve. Finding someone they knew to help was already tough, yet she claimed to have another way.
Malcolm really married a gem.
"There’s never just one way," Reese replied.
She never blocked her own path and only did things she was sure about. If she said she'd see Malcolm today, then she would.
Justin's eye twitched. "So... what's the other way?"
Seeing them still standing there, Elbert couldn't help but chime in, "You might as well leave. This place isn't like others where you can just pull some strings."
Justin was fed up with Elbert's attitude and snapped back.
"Mind your own business. Just don't regret it later when you offend the wrong person. Watch your job."
"Watch my job? You must have eyes in the back of your head. Do you know who put me here? My uncle. And do you know who my uncle is? He runs this place. You think you can get me fired?"
That arrogant tone was infuriating.
Reese didn't want to argue with someone like this, but his words were too much. If she didn't put him in his place, it would be a disservice to his arrogance.
She pulled Justin behind her, eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Your uncle, huh? Why don't you tell me his name?"
Elbert looked smug, his eyes practically rolling to the sky.
"My uncle is the Rodolfo you mentioned earlier. If my uncle didn't inform me, would I not know? You think just knowing my uncle's name gives you the right to waltz in here? Be careful, or I'll call the cops on you."
Justin was about to explode. "You..."
This guy was insufferable.
Reese hadn't wanted to call Rodolfo, but now she felt it was necessary to see how capable this relative of his really was.
She nodded thoughtfully. "Alright, so, why don't we call your uncle over and ask him?"
Elbert almost burst out laughing. "Are you stupid? Who do you think you are? My uncle is too busy for low-level people like you."
Reese had already taken out her phone.
"Whether he deals with us or not isn't up to you. But whether you stay here will be up to me."
Justin couldn't help but laugh. Even if Reese didn't have the pull, just hearing her say that was thrilling.
He thought Elbert was arrogant, but now he realized Reese was on a whole different level.
Rodolfo picked up quickly, his tone unchanged.
"Reese, something else? Decided to join me for a meal?"
Reese sensed something was off.
"You better come over. There's an issue here that might need your personal attention."
Rodolfo was puzzled but always complied with Reese's requests.
"Alright, I'll be there right away."
"But Mr. Knight, we have..."
"Afternoon meeting. Dismiss for now."
Reese hung up and told Elbert, "Your uncle will be here soon. Think about how to explain this and how to apologize."
Elbert couldn't believe Reese had actually called his uncle, who never took calls during meetings.
"You must've faked that call. My uncle has meetings at this time every day and never takes calls. If you got through, something's fishy."
Reese didn't want to argue with someone so dense. She pulled a chair over, sat at the entrance, one leg crossed over the other, looking relaxed. All she needed was a cup of tea.
Elbert saw Reese's casual demeanor and felt insulted.
"Who told you to sit there? I'll give you one more chance. If you don't leave, I'll have you thrown out."
Reese's patience had run out, her eyes cold. Elbert thought she was just thick-skinned and ignored him, which made him even angrier.
Elbert rolled up his sleeves, ready to confront Reese. Justin wanted to stop him but was too late. But Reese—who could take on twenty people—wasn't about to lose to Elbert.
Just as Elbert was inches away, Reese sidestepped, flicked her wrist, and in a flash, a few concealed weapons appeared between her fingers.
Reese was behind Elbert before he could react. Her eyes narrowed as she struck.
Elbert immediately couldn't move. He wanted to speak, but no sound came out. His face changed drastically, and he glared at Reese.
Finally realizing what was happening, Justin opened his mouth but couldn't utter a word. He teased Elbert, "Why aren't you talking now? Weren't you quite the talker just now?"
Elbert's body was immobile, and he couldn't make a sound, almost exploding with anger.
At that moment, Rodolfo arrived. Seeing Reese sitting at the entrance, his face changed, and he hurried over.
"Reese, why aren't you inside? It's so hot out here; you'll get heatstroke."
Reese pointed to the dumbfounded Elbert beside her. "He said you're his uncle and didn't let us in without your instructions."
Rodolfo looked at Elbert, not caring if he could move or not, and asked him.
"Why are you on duty today? Isn't it supposed to be Bishop? I called him earlier. Didn't he inform you?"
