Chapter 453 Don't Blame Me for Being Ruthless
Aiden just realized that Reese was serious, and he shouted urgently, "Reese, let go!"
Reese's eyes were bloodshot, completely ignoring both Aiden and Alyssa's words. Although she didn't speak harshly, her anger was palpable.
Everly had never seen Reese like this, like a demon straight out of hell, exuding an aura of fear.
She spoke with difficulty, "Reese, calm down."
Reese glanced disdainfully at Everly, her regal presence making Everly feel inferior.
She curled her lips mockingly and said, "Everly, do you think that just because I didn't do anything to you before, I'm easy to mess with? Why don't you ever learn your lesson? I've warned you many times, yet you keep crossing the line. Is it that my lessons weren't harsh enough, or are you just shamelessly determined to cause trouble for me?"
Reese's fingers tightened slightly, causing Everly to turn red. She couldn't move at all and had no idea where Reese got such strength.
Alyssa was terrified by the scene. Although she knew Reese wouldn't actually strangle Everly to death, Reese's current demeanor was frightening.
She stood aside, even forgetting to pull Reese away. No, it wasn't that she forgot. She didn't dare to approach Reese at this moment.
In the end, she could only rely on Aiden. Seeing Reese's intense anger and knowing her temper, Aiden quickly shouted to Jason, "Quickly get someone to pull her away."
Jason shook his head. "Mr. Flynn, that... that might not work."
Everyone knew Reese was skilled in martial arts, and Jason had seen it firsthand. A few ordinary people wouldn't be able to restrain her.
Just when everyone was at a loss and didn't dare to approach Reese, Malcolm returned from outside.
Malcolm walked in steadily, and Alyssa rushed up to him. "Malcolm... Reese, she..."
Malcolm didn't even glance at Alyssa. He walked straight to Reese, showing no panic or anger at how she was treating Everly. Instead, he placed his warm hand on her arm, his voice low and patient. "Reese, let her go first. I'll support you."
Alyssa's eyes widened. Was Malcolm out of his mind? He should be persuading Reese, not supporting her.
Couldn't he see that Everly was being pressed against the wall? If he helped Reese, Everly wouldn't survive.
Aiden also heard and shouted angrily, "Malcolm, are you crazy? Pull Reese away now! Can't you see Everly is about to be strangled?"
Everly was already struggling to breathe, her eyes rolling back, and her breath weakening.
Malcolm, however, seemed oblivious to their words. His eyes were focused solely on Reese, as if the outside world was completely shut out.
All his attention was on Reese, his expression showing no impatience, only endless tenderness. "Reese, listen to me. Don't stoop to her level. I promise to give you a satisfactory explanation. I won't let you be wronged."
Hearing this, Alyssa and Aiden finally understood Malcolm's intentions.
Malcolm wasn't letting Reese have her way. He knew Reese's strong-willed nature. Confronting her forcefully would only ignite her anger, leading to irreparable mistakes.
Aiden was sweating profusely. In all his years, he had never met a girl with such a stubborn temper, daring attitude, and ruthless actions as Reese.
No wonder the Hawthorne family didn't dare let her return. If she was provoked, she could turn the Hawthorne family upside down.
Reese's anger began to subside at Malcolm's gentle and low voice. Her bloodthirsty gaze softened, and she turned her head, her eyes trembling. Malcolm knew she was hurt.
The Hawthorne family was a thorn in her heart. Even if she didn't show it, it didn't mean she was at peace. Beneath her calm exterior, her emotions were already turbulent.
Everly must have said something hurtful. Now, only the Hawthorne family could wound her deeply.
Malcolm looked at Reese with a pained expression, pulling her into his embrace, gently patting her back with his warm hand. "Reese, I’ve got this. Go upstairs and rest, okay?"
Reese didn't want to argue with Everly any longer. She had said she wouldn't waste her energy on irrelevant people or let them affect her emotions.
If Everly hadn't pushed her too far today, Reese wouldn't have acted out.
Now, Reese let go of Everly, who gasped, clutching her neck and slowly recovering.
Malcolm took Reese upstairs. Sitting by the bed, Reese said to him, "I'm fine. I just lost control of my emotions earlier."
"It's not your fault. Everly brought this on herself, always causing you trouble. It's partly my fault, too. I didn't intervene enough in your conflicts, only scolding Everly a bit, so she didn't realize the seriousness of the situation." Malcolm had thought Everly was just jealous of Reese. After all, Reese wasn't one to be bullied. If Everly provoked her, Reese would retaliate.
But Everly was part of the Flynn family, and this was the first time someone dared to act against her in front of Aiden.
Reese had calmed down. "This has nothing to do with you. It's a personal grudge between Everly and me. She still hasn't moved on from her feelings for you."
Maybe one day, when Everly no longer saw her as an enemy, she could truly be free.
Malcolm saw the fatigue on Reese's face, guessing she hadn't rested well these past few days.
He habitually ruffled her hair. "Go take a shower and rest."
"Okay." Reese was indeed tired.
Malcolm watched her enter the bathroom and then he went back downstairs.
Aiden was scolding Everly. "Look at what you've done today, almost costing your life."
Everly, having recovered, began to act tough again. "I don't believe she could actually kill me in front of you."
"You're still talking nonsense!" Aiden was so angry he wanted to hit her. "Everly, if you remain unrepentant, don't blame me for being ruthless."
