Chapter 368 Car Skills
A burst of laughter came from the surroundings.
Sebastian didn't expect Reese to be so pretty and speak so boldly.
Sebastian remarked, "How dare you curse at people?"
Since he was from the Hawthorne family, Reese didn't want to give him any face.
Reese said, "Do I have to speak nicely to you? You, a kid who relies on money to snatch others' territory."
Reese's eyes were full of disdain when looking at Sebastian. Sebastian was a darling of the Hawthorne family, and everyone outside treated him with respect. He never expected to be confronted by a woman today, which naturally made him feel aggrieved.
Sebastian pointed at Reese without any politeness.
He said, "Don't you dare..."
Before he could finish his harsh words, Reese grabbed his wrist and applied pressure with her fingertips. Sebastian let out a painful cry.
His arrogant face turned extremely ugly.
Sebastian demanded, "Ouch, you shrew, let go of me!"
Reese mocked with a smile, "You know pain now? Do you think you can buy everything with money? Then why are you here? This is not a place for rich kids like you."
There were some car racing enthusiasts, not many of them were wealthy, but they were genuine. Sebastian, who acted arrogantly because of his family's wealth, was what Reese detested the most.
Reese pushed Sebastian away as if she was throwing away trash. Sebastian held his hand, which was already turning red, and clenched his fist tightly.
Sebastian shouted, "You, a woman, seem to underestimate my abilities!"
With that, Sebastian raised his fist to strike at Reese. However, Reese didn't dodge at all. Just as his fist was a few millimeters away from Reese's face, Malcolm intercepted it.
With swift movements, Malcolm lifted his foot and pushed Sebastian back with a punch. Sebastian was no match for Malcolm.
He staggered back several steps, almost falling. If it weren't for his assistant who caught him in time, Sebastian would have become a laughingstock again.
Sebastian's face turned pale with pain. He gritted his teeth, veins popping on his forehead, filled with anger.
Sebastian asked, "Who the hell are you?"
Malcolm replied, "Your father..."
He accused, "Both of you have no shame, and taking advantage of me!" Sebastian had never encountered someone so arrogant in front of him.
Ironically, this time he encountered two of them.
Malcolm raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharp, his aura instantly suppressing Sebastian.
Malcolm remarked, "You're bullying my wife. Should I teach you a lesson?"
Sebastian widened his eyes, "I'm bullying your wife? Clearly, it's your wife who's bullying me. I haven't even touched her, and she's about to break my finger."
Lucius was shocked to hear this.
Lucius asked, "Reese, when did you get married?"
"A while ago," Reese replied calmly.
Lucius couldn't help but give her a thumbs up, saying, "Impressive, while we're still achieving nothing, you've already gotten married."
Reese retorted, "Enough talk, you didn't call me here to discuss my personal life."
Reese didn't have time to waste here.
Lucius then got back to the point and said to Sebastian, "You wanted to race, right?"
Sebastian looked at Reese in astonishment, and scoffed, "You brought a woman to race with me, are you crazy?"
Lucius finally laughed arrogantly, and said, "You're being too arrogant here. You'll be crying soon."
Sebastian said, "You're just bragging..."
Sebastian couldn't believe that such a fragile girl could beat him.
His assistant chimed in, "Exactly, you probably don't know how skilled Sebastian is. He has won many awards in racing competitions."
Reese crossed her arms, looking calmly at him.
Reese teased, "Well... sounds impressive."
Sebastian thought Reese was praising him, so he became even more smug.
He said, "So, you're not my opponent at all."
Reese didn't bother with his nonsense, and replied, "Whether you're my opponent or not, we won't know until we race."
Sebastian readily agreed, "Let's race then, but there should be some stakes."
Reese glanced at him lazily, "Do you think I'm here to chat with you? Let's get the unpleasantness out of the way first. If you lose, you leave this place."
Sebastian rarely encountered a woman who spoke to him like this, which suddenly piqued his interest.
Sebastian asked, "All right, what if you lose?"
Reese countered, "If I lose, this place is yours, and I'll agree to one more condition of your choosing."
Doubling the stakes showcased Reese's full confidence.
Sebastian wanted to see how capable this woman really was.
Sebastian said, "All right, let's race from here to the finish line, one round. Whoever returns first wins. Deal?"
"Deal," Reese said confidently as if victory was already in her grasp.
At this moment, Malcolm approached and held Reese's hand.
Malcolm asked, "Honey, should I take your place?" He was still a bit worried.
Reese refused, "Remember, you're here to watch me showcase my skills. You can trust me."
Lucius chimed in, "Hey, brother-in-law, you probably don't know about Reese's talent and expertise in racing. She's a rare genius in this field. This guy is no match for Reese."
Malcolm was indeed aware of Reese's talent in this area and had witnessed her driving skills. However, he found Lucius' words a bit exaggerated.
Seeing Malcolm's disbelief, Lucius added, "If you don't believe it, you'll see it soon. This guy is no match for Reese."
Sebastian, who was nearby, became increasingly displeased upon hearing Lucius' words.
Pointing at Lucius, Sebastian said, "Stop looking down on people!"
Lucius shrugged and remained silent.
After Reese got into the car, Malcolm stood by the window, "Be careful."
Reese replied, "Don't worry."
Sebastian, seeing how Malcolm cherished this woman, sneered disdainfully.
He suggested, "If you're so worried about your wife, tell her not to race against me."
Reese glared at Sebastian, and retorted, "Stop the nonsense."
Sebastian started the car, his face full of arrogance.
Lucius stood in the middle, excited as well. He hadn't seen Reese's driving skills for a long time, not since she rose to fame a couple of years ago.
"I'll count to three, then you start." Lucius counted down, "Three..."
The two cars shot out like arrows released from a bow. Reese remained calm and steady, displaying smooth driving skills.
In contrast, Sebastian's driving was flamboyant but lacked substance.
Initially confident, he soon faced challenging roads ahead with numerous bends and unstable sections. A slight mistake could easily send his car spinning out of control.
Watching the live broadcast, Lucius was particularly impressed by Reese's gear-shifting and drifting maneuvers, which were both stylish and flawless.
She showed no signs of hesitation or clumsiness. Compared to Reese, Sebastian appeared visibly flustered.
Lucius beamed with pride and admiration, showing off to Malcolm, saying, "See, I've always said Reese's driving skills are exceptional. The national team even wanted to sign her, but she refused. If the national team recognized her, you can imagine how talented Reese is."
Malcolm, arms crossed, focused on the screen, watching Reese's smooth turns and accelerations without a single flaw, demonstrating her solid driving skills.
A faint smile played on his lips, sharing Lucius' sense of pride, albeit for different reasons.
"Of course, have you forgotten whose wife she is?"
Lucius fell silent.
Was this really about whose wife she was? Wasn't it because of Reese's outstanding abilities?
