Chapter 532 A High Price for Reese's Life
Ryan didn't expect Malcolm to show up so fast, already knowing about Reese's trip with Louis. Realizing he couldn't hide the truth from someone as sharp as Malcolm, he decided to come clean.
"Mr. Flynn, Reese went with Louis to Chatville. Calvin went there before and lost contact. Reese got worried and followed him," Ryan explained.
Malcolm frowned, thinking, 'Chatville is pretty far. Driving's not an option.'
"How did they get there? Justin didn't find any flight records," Malcolm said.
He hadn't even considered checking the trains. In an urgent situation, they wouldn't have time for that.
"Reese recently got a private jet," Ryan said.
Justin, nearby, was shocked. 'Reese is that rich? When did she get a private jet?'
Malcolm realized why there were no flight records—they used a private jet. 'Reese is really something,' he thought.
He had planned to use his own jet for her convenience, but Reese had already sorted it out herself.
Malcolm felt a bit down. He had imagined building a life and success with Reese, but she was already capable on her own. It made him feel a bit purposeless.
Justin noticed Malcolm's mood. Having a strong partner can sometimes make you feel unnecessary.
Malcolm pulled himself together. "Can you find their exact location?"
Ryan got the hint. "Mr. Flynn, are you planning to go find Reese?"
"Yes, now that we know where they are, I need to go immediately," Malcolm said firmly. He felt an urgent need to protect Reese. If anything happened to her, who could replace her?
Ryan realized Reese had chosen well. Malcolm was ready to fly out as soon as he heard she might be in danger. Much better than that loser Everhart.
Ryan was also worried about Reese and Louis but couldn't leave. Since Malcolm was going, he wouldn't stop him. "I'll send you the location now," Ryan said.
"Thanks." Malcolm hung up.
A minute later, Ryan sent Reese's location. It was a remote village, no wonder there was no signal.
Malcolm locked in on the location and left with Justin. At the door, they ran into Everly.
Everly saw Malcolm in a hurry. "Malcolm, where are you going?"
"Out of town for something," Malcolm replied vaguely, holding a bag of clothes.
"Is it a long trip?" Everly asked, sensing something different.
"Yes," Malcolm said shortly.
Everly got more curious. Where was he rushing off to?
She called Vincent, "Can you check where Malcolm went? It seems he won't be back for a few days."
Vincent saw an opportunity. "You said Malcolm went far away. How do you know?"
"I just ran into him, but he wouldn't tell me. Can you find out where he went?" Everly asked.
"Give me a few minutes," Vincent replied. He was still bitter about Reese. She had exposed his secrets, got him suspended from the medical institute, and ruined his career. He even wanted her dead.
Vincent quickly did some digging and called Everly back. She was waiting anxiously in her office.
Her phone buzzed, and she answered quickly. "Did you find out?"
"Reese probably went to Chatville. Malcolm went to find her," Vincent said.
Everly thought about Malcolm's worried look. It was clear he only cared about Reese. She wondered why, after all her support, he chose Reese over her. If only Reese weren't around, things would be different.
"Can you get rid of Reese?" Everly asked, desperate.
Vincent's eyes flashed with malice. If Reese died, Malcolm would be devastated and distracted, giving Vincent an opening. He couldn't let Reese ruin his plans.
"I'll handle it. Just wait for good news," Vincent said.
Everly felt hopeful. "You really have a way?"
"Sort of. Bye." Vincent hung up and messaged a hitman, including Reese's location and details.
The hitman replied: [A job like this costs. Are you sure?]
Vincent, thinking of how Reese had ruined him, didn't care. [I'm sure.]
[Need a deposit. If we fail, no more pay.]
Vincent sneered. The deposit alone was $500,000, and the total cost was over a million dollars. But Reese was tough; a cheap hit wouldn't work.
Keeping Reese around was like having a ticking time bomb. Her abilities and status made her a serious threat.
Everly trusted Vincent, hoping he could finally get rid of Reese. Since Reese showed up, everything had changed, especially Malcolm. She missed the old days when Malcolm wasn't attached to anyone else.
Reese had monopolized Malcolm's attention for too long. It was time to free him from her grip.
