Chapter 459 On the Brink of Death

Calvin still looked puzzled. "What's going on online? Did some celebrity reveal a new relationship?"

As he spoke, Calvin quickly took out his phone to check, and immediately a loud "What!" echoed through the entire airport.

"What’s going on, Reese? Reese, your... your husband was taken away, what happened to the Flynn Group?"

"It's as you see. Everything's written."

Reese raised her chin slightly at Calvin with an indifferent expression.

Calvin was shocked. "And you're still so calm? Shouldn't you be thinking about how to get your husband out? Why are you still flying out of town?"

Of course, Reese wanted to get Malcolm out, but the point was, it was a legal issue involving a crime, which was beyond her ability to solve. What she needed to do now was to find a way to clear Malcolm of suspicion and prove his innocence, so he could get released with dignity.

Moreover, this wasn't a personal issue, but a matter concerning the entire group. Reese couldn't control everything.

"Justin told me that the project the Flynn Group signed earlier had an accident that resulted in a death. We need to handle it quickly, otherwise, it will only make things worse for the Flynn Group, accelerating their decline."

Even a powerful group in the industry couldn't withstand such troublesome matters. If not handled properly, even the biggest group could collapse overnight.

Success and failure could happen in the blink of an eye.

Calvin was also frightened. "So serious? Someone died, it seems difficult to handle."

Reese looked at the watch on her wrist and patted Calvin's shoulder.

"Let's go, stop talking."

Sometimes Reese found Calvin quite annoying. But without him, things didn't seem to work well either.

After they got on the plane, Reese threw the documents to Calvin.

"Check now, who is causing trouble for us behind the scenes, and who reported the Flynn Group?"

"Okay."

When it came to work, Calvin was very serious, but it wasn't easy to investigate, and it wouldn't yield results immediately.

After getting off the plane, Reese went straight to the scene of the incident. As soon as she walked in, she saw people standing there arguing non-stop.

"You must take responsibility for this incident. My brother is still unconscious in the hospital, and my younger brother is lying in the funeral home with no one to take care of him. Is this how your big company operates?"

"Pity my son, he was only in his twenties, and he died here. You must take responsibility, you must..."

"We didn't say we wouldn't take responsibility, but we gave you money, and you refused it. Besides, accidents on construction sites are the norm."

The family members immediately got angry upon hearing this. "What kind of nonsense are you talking about!"

Saying that, they raised their fists and charged towards the person in charge, causing a chaotic scene.

Calvin, with a straw in his mouth, couldn't help but comment, "Seriously, Reese, are the people in your husband's company so uncivilized? I think he deserves to be hit."

Reese frowned and was about to step forward when she heard the person in charge shout again, "If you want compensation, that's all you can get. Now the Flynn Group is in big trouble, who knows when it will collapse. If you wait until it collapses, you might not even get this much money."

The family members stopped immediately upon hearing this and looked at each other.

"What’s going on? How could the Flynn Group be going bankrupt? Weren't they doing fine before?"

"If it goes bankrupt, who will we ask for compensation? Our family member can't have died for nothing."

"No matter what, we need to find the person in charge. Why did the construction collapse for no reason? What's the cause? You haven't even given us a proper explanation, there must be something wrong!"

The person in charge was also fierce, with no sign of softening.

"What problem? Didn't you see? It rained for several days, and the collapse was normal. You’ve been to the construction site before. Why do you think the wages are so high? It's because of the risks. If your family members were afraid of dying, they shouldn’t have come!"

The family members were infuriated again and wanted to hit him. At this moment, Reese stepped forward.

"If you have something to say, talk to me," she said.

Although it was just a woman's voice, it intimidated everyone present. Reese's aura and the fierce energy around her were impossible to ignore.

When they noticed her presence, the person in charge rudely asked, "Who are you?"

Reese rarely encountered such an arrogant person, especially someone who was just an employee.

Calvin stood by watching like it was a show. He hadn't seen Reese lose her temper in a long time. It seemed this person was unlucky today to run into Reese.

Reese's eyes were cold, and she glanced at the person in charge fiercely. He shivered as if a cold wind had swept across his face, chilling to the bone.

"I'm sent by the Flynn Group to handle this incident," she said sternly.

The person in charge looked Reese up and down, expressing doubt. "You're the company's representative? I haven't heard any orders from the company, nor did they say they were sending someone over. Besides, I've never seen you before. Are you here to scam money just like these people?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Calvin couldn't help but laugh. "Are you serious? Reese needs to scam for money?"

Reese had plenty of money.

The person in charge was confused by Calvin's words and snapped at him and said, "And who are you? I get it, you're this woman's assistant, right? How much does she pay you a day?"

Calvin rudely retorted, "You've watched too many movies, haven't you? Nice imagination."

Reese raised her hand to stop Calvin. "Don't waste time with him. We need to solve this and get back."

Calvin glared at the man. "What a guy!"

How did the Flynn Group hire such an idiot? Now they had an employee ruining their reputation.

Reese walked up to the person in charge, her cold face and sharp features becoming hazy in the soft sunlight, enveloped by an aura of fierce energy.

"Brandon Tyler, right? Your strong resistance to us suggests you're worried about your embezzlement being exposed and going to jail."

Brandon's face suddenly changed upon hearing this.

"What nonsense are you talking about? When did I embezzle? You must be in cahoots with these family members."

Reese's gaze was icy, and her tone was sharp enough to pierce as she said, "Even on the brink of death, you remain stubborn."

Brandon sneered. "I think you're the one on the brink of death. I'll have you thrown out right now!"
