Chapter 460 Fearless
Brandon called his men over and said, "Get these irrelevant people out of here. This is my turf; I won't let anyone mess around."
The family members were taken aback by Brandon's unreasonable behavior, and a standoff ensued. "You guys are being unreasonable. If we can't settle this privately, then we'll call the police. If it turns out, as this lady says, that you embezzled the project funds and caused this, we won't let you off!"
Brandon naturally wouldn't admit it. "You say I embezzled project funds? Show me the evidence. This project was just recently built, and there were several days of heavy rain. Issues like this are understandable."
Reese couldn't help but laugh, a mocking sound that made Brandon pause.
"What are you laughing at?" Brandon asked.
Reese's lips curled into a sinister smile. "What you said further proves your project's quality is terrible."
Brandon retorted, "When did I ever say that?"
"You didn't say it, but your words and actions have already expressed it."
Brandon felt cornered, like someone had caught him red-handed. He couldn't let these people ruin his plans. The Flynn Group was in trouble; they couldn't handle his issues right now. Before things got out of hand, he could still make some money.
If things got exposed now, he'd be in trouble too, and couldn't avoid jail.
Once Brandon calmed down, he asked Reese, "Do you have evidence?"
"Getting evidence is simple. We'll just check your bank accounts. You probably haven't had time to transfer the money out yet."
Reese's straightforwardness made Brandon even more anxious. He had to deal with these people, or they'd cause him big trouble.
Brandon, furious, shouted at his men, "Get these people out of here now!"
"Yes, sir."
Six or seven men surrounded Reese and the family members. The family members, being ordinary folks, were terrified and backed away.
"What are you doing? Hitting people is illegal."
"You killed my brother, and now you want to break the law? I'm calling the police!"
The man quickly picked up his phone to dial the police, but Brandon's men snatched it away before he could press the button.
"You... you have no regard for the law."
Brandon laughed arrogantly. "Here, I am the law."
Reese couldn't help but laugh again. The family members, seeing Reese's calm expression, were amazed at her lack of fear. The deceased's mother, an elderly woman, quickly advised Reese. "Young lady, they dared to take a life. You should leave quickly."
Brandon snorted. "Isn't it too late to leave now?"
Who knew if they would expose his deeds once they left? He might have considered letting them go before, but now he couldn't.
Reese looked at the men, who were indeed strong, but did it matter to her?
Brandon, seeing Reese suddenly go silent, thought he had intimidated her. He smugly raised his chin at her. "Young lady, if you make us happy, we might let you go."
Reese's eyes filled with disdain, her gaze sweeping over Brandon and his men with a bloodthirsty look, her lips curling wickedly.
"Come at me all together," she said.
Brandon was stunned.
Calvin looked pleased with himself.
The family members were even more shocked by Reese's words and started discussing among themselves.
"Is this young lady out of her mind?"
"No way, she looks pretty smart."
"If she's not out of her mind, how could she say that? She can't handle one of them, let alone six or seven. Is she crazy?"
"Maybe her assistant is capable."
"Nonsense! Look how skinny he is. His arms are thinner than mine. No way."
"He doesn't look capable to me either."
Calvin, hearing this, yelled at them indignantly, "Don't look down on me. I'm not skinny; I'm agile."
The family members fell silent. After all, these two were here to help, but had unknowingly fallen into Brandon's trap.
Reese, growing impatient, beckoned to the men provocatively. "Stop stalling. Come at me all at once and save us all some trouble."
Brandon couldn't believe a woman dared to be so arrogant in front of him.
He ordered his men. "Get her..."
Six or seven men swarmed towards Reese. Her eyes filled with killing intent. With a swift roundhouse kick, she sent one man flying. The others, shocked by Reese's prowess, couldn't just watch their comrade get beaten and charged at her fiercely.
Reese moved swiftly, her moves precise and deadly. Brandon had barely time to react before his men were all lying on the ground, groaning in pain.
The family members stared at Reese in astonishment. "What's with this girl? How is she so strong?"
"Don't ask me. Who should I ask? But she was really cool just now."
"Those men didn't even touch her."
"Who would've thought? Such a skinny girl took down those big guys. She wasn't bluffing; she really has the skills."
They had wondered if Reese was out of her mind. She fought alone against six or seven men and was fearless enough to challenge them all.
They couldn't comprehend Reese's true strength.
Calvin, excited, whistled. "Reese, it took you five minutes."
"Five... five minutes? This woman took down those strong men in five minutes? That's unbelievable!"
Calvin, as if boasting about himself, raised his chin. "That's nothing. Reese can take on twenty men without a problem. This was just a warm-up for her."
Brandon, terrified, stumbled back, his face pale, lips trembling, staring at the expressionless Reese in fear. "Who... who are you?"
Reese smiled wickedly and cursed.
