Chapter 19 Not the Beauty Route

Dahlia's face went ghost-white. Yeah, she had rented a room with Nicholas once, but that was just 'cause she had her eye on a sweet ride. Her family's finances were in the toilet, and the company was tanking too. So Nancy and Kenneth had slashed her allowance, let alone buying any luxury splurges for her.

And now, even that witch Reese was living better than her. No way she could let that slide.

Reese just smirked. Stalking her? Please. She was a top-tier hacker. If she wanted to dig up dirt on someone, it was just a piece of cake.

She snatched the card back, tossed it in her bag, and lifted her chin with confidence.

"If you don't want people to know, don't do it in the first place."

With that, Reese grabbed her clothes and strutted out of the store, head held high.

Dahlia watched her leave, fuming. She chucked her phone and let out a scream.

'Damn it, I've gotta find a way to deal with her,' she thought.

Seeing Dahlia all riled up, Nicholas slid his arm around her shoulder.

"Come on, babe, don't let that bitch get to you. Weren't you gonna buy some clothes? Go ahead and pick something out."

Dahlia's eyes lit up with an idea. "If you really care about me, then get back at her. I want her totally humiliated."

Once Reese's reputation was trashed, no way the Flynn family would keep her around.

Nicholas felt a pang of guilt, but he didn't want to look weak in front of Dahlia, so he made up an excuse.

"But babe, she's part of the Flynn family. If Malcolm finds out we messed with his wife... we're toast."

Dahlia didn't give a damn about that. She was laser-focused on making Reese pay.

She shot Nicholas a look and started to pout.

"Didn't you say you liked me? Said you'd give me anything I wanted. Now you're backing out?"

Hearing Dahlia's sultry voice, Nicholas got all hot and bothered and decided to throw caution to the wind.
"Alright, whatever you say. But tonight, you better make it worth my while."

Nicholas practically pressed himself against Dahlia as he spoke.

After they left, the sales clerk shook her head.

"Man, some people will do anything for cash. That couple just now? Gave me the creeps."

One of them glanced at the computer. "Why's the info still up? You didn't close the system?"

"The name on this card is Reese. It's a chick."

They exchanged looks, suddenly realizing. Could that plain girl just now be...

Reese took her clothes to the restroom, changed, and checked herself out in the mirror. She definitely looked way better than in that floral disaster she had on before.

Standing outside, she glanced up at the shiny, golden letters of the Flynn Group.

She walked into the HR department and slapped her acceptance letter on the desk.

"I'm here to start."

The person barely looked up at her.

"Alright, go report to your department. They'll set you up with a seat."

Chewing gum, Reese turned and left. A few others huddled together, whispering.

"Is she the one who got in without an interview?"

"No clue what her deal is. I thought she must be a knockout to get in like that. But now, I'm not so sure."

"So, what's her angle?"

"Beats me."

Reese made her way to the director's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

That voice made her pause. Wasn't that Everly?

She had run her again. Neither of the Flynn family's two girls liked her, so it looked like a showdown was on the horizon.

Pushing the door open, Everly saw Reese and didn't look surprised. She had been expecting this.

Reese knew Everly didn't like her and didn't bother trying to get on her good side. That would just make her look weak, and she couldn't afford that.

"Where is my seat?"

"Follow me, I'll show you." Everly got up and walked past Reese. Reese blew a bubble and trailed right behind her.
