Chapter 507 Reese Comes from the Countryside

Reese suddenly had a lightbulb moment and smacked his forehead. "How could I forget? If they're really in touch, they can just meet up."

Malcolm got up to pour Reese a glass of water. "What matters now is figuring out how they connected and why they."

Without knowing the cause, there was no way to predict what'll happen next.

"I'll check it out. Should be easy," Reese said, starting to stand.

But Malcolm gently pushed her back down by the shoulders. "Hold on, finish your spaghetti first."

Reese frowned, worry etched on her delicate face. "What if Nolan finds Everhart before I do?"

Everhart had dirt on Nolan. If Nolan got it, he could be taken down easily.

Malcolm reassured her, "Don't worry. Even if Nolan finds Everhart, do you think Everhart would just hand over his only leverage?"

It was his only bargaining chip. Giving it to Nolan would be game over for Everhart.

Malcolm was sure Everhart wouldn't spill anything.

Reese rubbed her temples, feeling a bit frazzled. "I must be really tired. I can't even think straight."

Normally, she could analyze everything methodically. But lately, too much had happened, messing with her head.

Malcolm ruffled her hair. "How about this: after eating, go to the room, and I'll show you my skills."

Reese looked at him, surprised. "I'm a mess, and you're thinking about that?"

Malcolm chuckled, pulling her into his arms. "You silly goose, you think all I ever want is sex? I meant a head massage. It'll help you feel better."

Reese felt awkward, but managed a smile. "Sorry, honey, I misunderstood."

Malcolm sighed. "It's not your fault. I just love you too much and always want to be near you."

Though she didn't say it, Reese's heart felt lighter, her mood lifting.

She patted Malcolm's shoulder. "Honey, I'll be counting on you. Time to test your skills."

"Don't worry, I'll make you feel great."

"Ahem..." A sudden cough startled them both.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop. Just came for water and overheard. But don't worry, I'm tight-lipped. You two should head to your room; it's late. The sooner you finish, the sooner you can rest," Alyssa said, quickly walking past Malcolm with her cup, afraid he'd scold her.

Reese didn't expect Alyssa to overhear. Usually composed, she felt a bit embarrassed, especially since Alyssa was Malcolm's sister.

She turned and explained casually, "I have a headache, and Malcolm said he'd give me a massage."

Alyssa, pressing the water dispenser button, was momentarily stunned. "You guys... were talking about that! But Reese, if you discuss such private matters, what about when you..."

"Alyssa, it's time to get you a boyfriend to straighten you out."

Malcolm's face turned grim, his expression cold and unapproachable.

Alyssa had always been intimidated by Malcolm, a fear that had followed her since childhood. Seeing him angry now, she shrank back in fear.

"No, Malcolm, please don't set me up with anyone. I'm not interested in dating right now."

Malcolm narrowed his eyes, casting a sidelong glance at her, and crossed his legs. "What do you want to do then? You're at the age where you should be thinking about marriage."

"I don't want to get married either. I just want to focus on my career, so drop it."

Alyssa seemed content with her current life and had no interest in dating.

Reese found it puzzling. Given that Alyssa interacted with so many people daily, how could she not have a single person she liked?

"Really, Alyssa? There's no one you like?" Reese asked curiously.

Alyssa shook her head. "Reese, I'm not lying. Most guys are unreliable. Some are even more arrogant than me. They think just because they have some skills and high scores, they can show off."

Reese turned to Malcolm. "Sounds like she wants someone stronger than herself. She probably looks down on those who aren't as good."

Malcolm nodded thoughtfully. "I see. Well, I know plenty of people she can choose from."

"It's not about just choosing anyone. She likes people in her industry, like pro gamers. Your business people, no matter how impressive, won't interest her."

Alyssa was still young and had the luxury to choose someone she genuinely liked.

"If that's the case, I don't have anyone suitable. But Grandpa probably won't approve if she chose a gamer. It would be a blow to his dignity."

Alyssa pouted. "So what? Do I need Grandpa's approval to choose who I want to be with? Reese came from the countryside, and we didn't know about her background. You all accepted her, didn't you? Why is it different for me?"

Reese didn't mind the comment; she indeed came from the countryside.

Malcolm frowned. "Alyssa..."

Alyssa knew her words might affect Reese, but she felt helpless. Malcolm had just mentioned that Grandpa wouldn't approve of her choosing someone else.

She clung to Reese's arm, looking aggrieved. "Reese, don't blame me. Malcolm pushed me too hard."

Reese wasn't petty and wouldn't hold it against Alyssa. She understood Alyssa's personality.

She gently patted Alyssa's shoulder. "Malcolm is just looking out for you. If you marry a gamer and have kids, your kids might end up playing games all day. Can you imagine that?"

At this point, Reese sided with Malcolm.

She believed that streaming and gaming could be part-time activities. Alyssa's age made it less of an issue now, but what about the future?

Reese was somewhat concerned about these things.

Alyssa was more inclined to listen to Reese, but she didn't fully accept what she said.

She sighed slightly. "I'll go rest now. You too."

"Yes. If you need anything, let us know."

Reese didn't expect Alyssa to understand her words immediately. Some things couldn't be rushed.

"By the way, Reese, that Alfonso guy almost died of regret when he found out you used to compete. You should've seen his face; it was priceless."

"There are many skilled people out there, but personality matters too."

Honestly, she also disliked people who boasted without any real skills.

Alyssa agreed wholeheartedly. "Yes, I also hate them. If you have the skills, then boast all you want. Right?"

"Alright, forget about Alfonso. Go to your room and get some sleep."

Reese noticed that it was getting late.

"Got it." Alyssa walked upstairs with her cup.

Malcolm and Reese exchanged a glance. "Let's finish eating and then go upstairs to discuss Everhart."
