Chapter 106 Fashion Show
At the hospital entrance, George and Emma stood there, feeling a bit awkward.
"Need a ride back?" George asked, trying to be helpful.
"No thanks. I don't like getting too close to a married man," Emma said, casually tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, showing off the ring on her finger.
George's expression darkened.
Seraphine, still young and clueless about their conversation, just stared at George with her big, adorable eyes and smiled. She liked George.
Lucas, already in first grade, couldn't grasp the full meaning of George and Emma's exchange, but he could tell Emma wasn't too fond of George.
Worried that Emma might not like him either, Lucas looked at her hopefully. Emma noticed and squatted down, ruffling his fluffy hair.
"Thanks, Lucas. You're a little hero for protecting Seraphine."
Lucas's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Of course."
"Then, does the little hero get a reward?" Lucas asked, gathering his courage.
Emma thought about her empty pockets, unsure what to offer. "What kind of reward do you want?"
"Anything?" When Emma nodded, Lucas continued, "I want you to hug me too." His voice grew softer.
Emma's heart ached. Anna had such a good kid like Lucas but didn't appreciate him. Damn Anna!
Emma added another reason to get back at Anna.
She opened her arms and hugged Lucas tightly. Her sunglasses made him uncomfortable, so she took them off. Seraphine joined in the hug too.
The three of them hugged for the first time, with Emma's eyes feeling warm.
Just then, Sophia walked by and noticed the scene.
She took out her phone and quietly snapped a picture. The woman looked strikingly similar to Emma.
'Who is this?' Sophia wondered, then sent the photo to Anna.
Anna received the photo and felt a jolt seeing Emma's figure.
This woman did look a bit like Emma, who was supposed to be dead!
"Impossible," Anna thought, considering another possibility—George must have found a lookalike to fill the void left by Emma.
'If I could kill one Emma, I can kill two!' Anna thought to herself.
Meanwhile, George and Emma's parting was clear under the sunlight. But both knew they'd cross paths again.
George didn't expect their next meeting to be so soon.
The next day, Anna was invited to a fashion show. At her request, George also attended.
The clothes and accessories showcased were all designed by Anna. It was her special event.
But really, these were all Emma's designs. When Anna cleaned out Emma's house, she took her diary, erased evidence of her childhood friendship with George, and stole all of Emma's design drafts.
Emma was super talented. Using her designs, Anna had won numerous competitions and made a name for herself in the industry. Everyone admired her more and more, except for George. But they were engaged, and Anna loved putting on a show for the public, soaking up the envious stares.
At this fashion show, she had to be the most stunning woman in the room!
The runway was decked out in luxury—dazzling lights, high ceilings, and colorful crystal chandeliers created a lavish, romantic vibe, lighting up every corner.
Golden ribbons and flowers adorned the runway.
On both sides, transparent acrylic seats were filled with celebrities and media reporters, all eagerly waiting for the fashion spectacle to begin.
A massive screen on the stage backdrop showcased breathtaking visuals. Sometimes it displayed flowing petals, other times twinkling stars, adding a dreamy filter to the models' walks.
As the music played, the background images constantly changed, making the whole experience immersive.
At the end of the runway was a shining golden backdrop encrusted with sparkling crystals. Every time a model reached this point, the flashbulbs would go off, capturing the moment's beauty.
Anna couldn't let herself be outshined by any model. She wore a magnificent evening gown and entered the venue.
The envious gazes of the crowd fed her ego. She linked arms with George, intentionally brushing her chest against his arm.
But George seemed distracted. He pulled his arm back, not wanting to be so close to Anna.
"George, how do I look today?" Anna tried to get his attention. George just nodded lightly, his gaze never really settling on her.
Just then, a commotion at the entrance drew everyone's attention.
A woman in an elegant gown and stylish sunglasses slowly entered the venue. Her appearance stunned the crowd, who began speculating about her identity.
"Who is that? She's gorgeous!" someone exclaimed.
"Look at the brooch she's wearing. It's the new Miss Lady design. How did she get an unreleased one first?"
"She looks familiar. Have I seen her somewhere before?"
"Did you attend Emma's memorial service a few days ago?"
"I remember too. She looks a lot like Emma."
"Don't be ridiculous! Emma's been dead for three years!"
"But she really does look like her! I just saw her photo the other day."
"No, it's just the face shape that's similar. The aura is completely different. And I remember Emma had a scar on her face, while this woman doesn't!"
Emma was thrilled with her entrance. She was no longer the boring, plain Emma who waited for George to come home. She was now Isabella, back for revenge!
Emma seemed indifferent to the surrounding gazes. Her confidence and elegance made her the star of the show.
George's gaze was also drawn to her at that moment.
Anna, standing beside him, had her smile freeze on her face.
Anna's intuition told her that this woman was the lookalike George had found for Emma!
