Chapter 80 Mom and Dad

Sophia and Henry felt like total jerks for hesitating earlier. Emma had straight-up killed Molly, the girl they'd raised for twenty years!

Molly wasn't their real kid, but she was their world. And now, that bubbly, sweet girl was dead in some nasty, grimy place.

All thanks to Emma.

“You murderer!” Sophia's voice cut through Emma like a knife, dripping with hate and blame. “How dare you act all innocent! You killed my Molly, you heartless witch!”

Emma's heart felt like it got hit by a truck.

She looked up and saw Sophia's eyes, shiny with tears, full of despair and rage. To Sophia, Emma was now a monster. No way to clean that stain, no way to break those chains.

“You deserve to die!” Sophia kept yelling, her voice raw with pain and hate. “You wrecked everything I had. I HATE YOU!”

Every word was like a punch to Emma's gut, making her shake and tear up. She wanted to speak up, but the words just wouldn't come out.

Sophia glared at her, eyes full of scorn and disgust. “You're a lowlife criminal who can't even own up to what you did!”

Emma felt like she was being ripped apart. She kept seeing Molly's eyes before she died, the fight between Molly and Anna. The only one who could clear her name was dead too, thanks to Anna. But Anna, the real killer, was still out there, living her life.

She hadn't killed anyone, but she was stuck with all this blame and pain.

“I didn't kill her...” Emma finally managed to say, her voice shaky but determined, like a tiny light in the dark.

“Shut up!” Sophia screamed, drowning out Emma's voice. “You don't get to defend yourself! You're a criminal who can never wash away your guilt!”

Tears streamed down Emma's face, her heart a mess of frustration and pain. She wanted to break free from these invisible chains, but her voice was so weak against Sophia's fury.

“I really didn't...” Emma's voice was barely a whisper.

“Your parents must regret ever having you! You don't deserve to be born! You bastard!”

The harsh words left Emma feeling empty and numb.

She stared blankly, holding her breath, biting her lip until it almost bled. Her pale face suddenly flushed with blood. Her shoulders started shaking violently, and she collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.

Seeing Emma in such agony, Sophia and Henry felt a twisted sense of satisfaction, hoping she'd just die already.

With the cops around, they couldn't lay a hand on her, so they unleashed their anger with the nastiest words they could think of. As Sophia kept cursing, Emma's body started to give out.

Her heart was pounding like crazy, her chest felt like it was being crushed by a boulder, making it hard to breathe. The tumor in her belly flared up with searing pain. Her face went ghostly pale, sweat dotted her forehead, and waves of agony washed over her.

Sophia's voice echoed in her ears, ripping her soul apart. Emma's heart ached, her vision blurred, and she started to black out.

"I, I..." Her voice was barely a whisper, her throat felt shredded, making it tough to speak. Just then, blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, staining her clothes red.

Emma crumpled to the ground, her hands weakly trying to hold her up, blood pouring from her mouth.

Sophia's angry voice still echoed, but Emma couldn't make out the words anymore. Her vision got blurrier, the world around her darkening.

Her body was falling apart, but she felt every bit of the pain. She knew she was nearing the end, teetering on the edge of death.

In that moment, Emma felt a desperate cling to life and a deep fear of dying.

'Why does Anna, the real killer, get to live while I have to die, and die so painfully?' Emma thought. 'What can I do for myself and my parents?'

In her despair, Emma suddenly found a surge of immense strength.

"Even if I die, I'll take you with me!" Emma's voice roared, her eyes wild with madness. She suddenly stood up and lunged at Anna, her hands clamping around Anna's neck like a vise.

Anna's face went white as a sheet, her eyes wide with terror. She struggled desperately, trying to break free from Emma's grip, but couldn't.

"I'll make you pay for what you've done!"

If the truth couldn't come out, she'd end it all right here.

At that moment, Henry suddenly appeared. He rushed forward and slapped Emma hard, the force of the blow instantly reddening her cheek.

Anna took the chance to escape, clutching her neck and backing away in fear.

"You lunatic!" Henry was furious, then kicked Emma to the ground, leaving her lying there, barely moving.

Just as Henry was about to keep beating her, a bunch of cops showed up, pretending to stop him.

"Stop! You can't hit people here!" one of the officers said coldly, his eyes flashing with disdain.

"Are you protecting a murderer?" Henry snapped, his heart full of frustration and helplessness.

"We're just doing our job," the officer shot back coldly, then turned to Emma and said softly, "Emma, your lawyer is here."

She didn't have a lawyer. Who would spend money to hire a lawyer for her?

Emma's mind quickly flashed to George, but she shook her head in disappointment. George would rather see her dead than hire a defense lawyer for her.

It was probably either Michael or Ethan, the only two who believed she hadn't killed Molly.

Emma coughed up a mouthful of blood with a smile. She hadn't repaid what she owed them before, and now she owed even more. 'Emma, Emma, you're really useless,' she thought.
