Chapter 351 Prosecution

Scarlett stormed out of the hospital, her face livid, her whole body like a ticking time bomb. She jumped into her car, Sophia's harsh words still ringing in her ears.

Grinding her teeth, Scarlett floored the gas pedal, and the car roared to life.

This was the car she had bought with money from the Stuart Group. Without those shares, she'd be broke.

Scarlett's car crept into the underground parking lot of a fancy neighborhood. She scanned the crowded parking spaces, her irritation mounting.

She used to live in the Russell Mansion, where the spacious garage could fit dozens of luxury cars. Now, she had to squeeze into this cramped lot. The difference was almost too much to bear.

"What the hell is this place!" she muttered under her breath, slamming on the brakes and parking in a corner spot. She stepped out, her high heels clicking sharply on the ground, echoing her frustration.

She glanced around at the haphazardly parked cars, her anger boiling over. She walked up to a white BMW, lifted her foot, and kicked the door hard.

With a dull thud, a noticeable dent appeared on the door.

"Why do I have to live in a place like this? Why?" she muttered angrily, kicking the car repeatedly, venting all her rage on the vehicle.

After several more kicks, the door was covered in dents, and the paint was scratched in several places. She was so consumed by her emotions that she didn't notice the security camera silently recording everything.

Exhausted, Scarlett finally stopped, panting heavily. She looked at the car she had battered, feeling no satisfaction, only emptiness. She bit her lip and headed for the elevator.

The elevator doors opened, and Scarlett stepped out, pulling out her keys to unlock the door. The apartment was luxuriously decorated, but compared to the Russell Mansion, it felt shabby.

She sat on the couch, grabbed a cup from the coffee table, and took a big gulp, only to find the coffee cold and bitter, adding to her frustration. Just then, the doorbell rang.

"Who is it?" she snapped.

After a moment, when no one answered, the knocking continued.

Scarlett remembered they no longer had servants or a butler. She had to answer the door herself. Standing outside was a delivery man. Scarlett snatched the envelope from him.

Opening it, she found a legal notice from Sophia's lawyer, clearly stating: [Due to fraudulent activities involved in the transfer of shares, a lawsuit has been filed to declare the transfer agreement void and to return the shares. A court date was set.]

A rush of blood to her head made Scarlett's vision blur, and she almost lost her balance. She glared at the legal notice, wishing she could tear it apart with her eyes.

"Sophia! How dare you sue me?" she growled through gritted teeth.

The notice included the court date and location. Scarlett's anger flared even more. She threw the notice to the ground and collapsed onto the couch.

She knew her chances of winning this case were slim.

Anna had received shares from Sophia under the assumption that she was Sophia's biological daughter. However, now that the truth had been revealed and Anna was exposed as an imposter, Sophia was legally entitled to reclaim the shares.

As the recipient of the shares, Scarlett would inevitably be dragged into the mess. Once the trial began, her reputation, status, and even the Russell family's name would be utterly ruined.

However, the Russell family's reputation had already taken a hit along with Anna's.

"No, I can't just sit here and do nothing!" She jumped up, grabbed the phone, and dialed Jack's number.

When he answered, Scarlett practically screamed, "Jack, we're in big trouble! Sophia's taking us to court. Get back here now, we need to figure this out!"

Jack, clearly shocked by the news, was silent for a few seconds before saying quietly, "I understand. I'll be right there."

A few minutes later, Jack rushed home. His face turned grim when he saw the legal notice on the floor. He picked it up, read it carefully, and frowned. "This isn't going to be easy."

"No kidding! Of course, it's not easy!" Scarlett shouted, on the verge of breaking down. "Sophia is determined to destroy me! She wants the shares back and to ruin me!"

Jack sighed, "The legal notice is here. The next step is the trial. We need to find some solid evidence quickly, or else..."

"Or else we're finished!" Scarlett interrupted. "We have no chance! Anna is dead, and the source of my shares won't hold up!"

Jack was silent for a moment, then weakly suggested, "Maybe we could try to settle with Sophia privately. After all, we were once family. You could ask her for mercy."

"Settle? You want me to beg her?" Scarlett nearly screamed. "I've never bowed to anyone in my life! Especially not to Sophia! I will never bow to her!"

She had always been insanely jealous of Sophia. Why did her husband Jack, who was so ordinary and had a mistress, while Sophia's husband Henry was not only more handsome but also treated Sophia so well?

And Sophia had her own career, unlike the other socialites who spent their days sipping coffee and gossiping.

Why did she have to be so talented?

Couldn't she share some of that talent with Scarlett?

Thanks to the Russell family's greater influence compared to the Stuart family, Scarlett had managed to keep her jealousy in check. But she had secretly schemed, threatening Anna to transfer the Stuart Group shares to her.

She had been smug about it for a long time.

So what if Sophia was so capable? She still had a foolish daughter who was easily deceived by George.

But now, with the Russell family fallen, Sophia was coming to take away the last of her shares!

Scarlett thought to herself, 'Sophia, you're going too far!'

Jack, too, was infuriated by Scarlett's attitude. Yes, he had never bowed to anyone except Charles. Why should he bow to Sophia?

He was a man, and he would never bow to a woman.

No way!
