Chapter 63 The Blood Donation Incident
Right then, Lucas's screams had everyone, including George, sprinting over. Emma's heart was pounding; she knew this was bad. She tried to ditch the dagger, but Anna had a death grip on her hand, stopping her cold.
"Emma! How could you? Why hurt Lucas? If you wanna kill someone, kill me!" Anna bawled, tears streaming, her voice dripping with innocence and despair.
"What the heck?" The servants looked at each other, panic in their eyes, shooting confused looks at Emma.
"She did it on purpose! Not me!" Emma blurted out, her heart a mix of rage and helplessness, but her voice barely a whisper against the chaos.
Scarlett came flying down the stairs, screaming, "Oh my God! Emma, you monster! How could you hurt a kid like that?"
George stormed in, his face darkening. His eyes darted between Emma and Lucas, burning with anger.
"What the hell is going on?" George roared, disbelief flashing in his eyes as he stared at Emma, questioning her sanity.
"I didn't do it! It was her!" Emma's voice was desperate, but Anna's wails drowned her out.
"George, she tried to kill Lucas! You gotta believe me!" Anna cried, her voice a tragic melody of despair.
George's face turned even darker, rage boiling inside him. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, and his trust in Emma shattered. Fueled by anger, he marched towards Emma and kicked her, as if trying to kick away all her guilt.
"You deserve to die!" George bellowed, his voice filled with ruthless despair, his eyes cold and bloodthirsty.
Emma stumbled back, pain shooting through her heart. Tears streamed down her face, a mix of hurt and anger. She wanted to fight back, but no words came out. Everything around her seemed to mock her helplessness.
"George, my heart aches. Why does Emma always hurt me?" Anna's voice was like a dagger, stabbing Emma's heart. Anna was savoring her victory.
Emma didn't care about Anna's feelings anymore. George's kick had sent her crashing to the ground, her forehead smacking the table edge. Pain shot through her, blood trickling down, blurring her vision.
She struggled to get up, her heart burning with anger and hurt. But Scarlett rushed over, shoving her back down and kicking her again.
"You monster! If anything happens to Lucas, you'll pay!" Scarlett screamed, her eyes blazing with anger and contempt.
Emma felt a wave of despair, tears streaming uncontrollably. George's murderous gaze swept over her before he turned to pick up the pale Lucas.
"Don't worry, Lucas will be fine," George assured Anna, carrying Lucas and rushing to the hospital. "I'll make sure the culprit pays dearly!"
Emma, shaking with pain, stood up and saw Anna turn back, flashing a victorious, evil grin. Emma's heart sank. She never imagined Anna could be so twisted, cutting Lucas just to frame her.
What a evil woman!
Just thinking about Lucas's sweet, angelic face being scarred made Emma's heart ache.
Despite being banged up, Emma couldn't just leave Lucas with that snake, Anna. She decided to tail them to the hospital, silently praying for Lucas to pull through.
Once at the hospital, Emma got her forehead patched up first. Then she bolted to the emergency room.
As soon as she got there, she saw a nurse rushing out. Anna, putting on her best distressed act, grabbed the nurse, about to say something.
But the nurse beat her to it, "Are you the kid's mom? You need to donate blood, like, now!"
"What?" Anna's face twisted for a second.
"The kid's lost a ton of blood and needs a transfusion ASAP, but we don't have his type. You gotta go now!" The nurse was practically dragging Anna.
"Anna," George frowned, stepping up to her, gently stroking her hair.
"George, I won't let anything happen to Lucas!" Anna looked at George with teary eyes, "Even if it drains me dry, I'll do it!"
Anna's over-the-top act made the nurse roll her eyes, but George was eating it up.
Anna followed the nurse, and George watched her like she was some kind of hero.
But not even a minute later, Anna came back, fake tears streaming, "George, the doc said I can't donate 'cause my period's not over."
She started whining about Emma's supposed evil deeds, "George, what do we do now? Why is Emma so cruel! If she wants to kill me, she should kill me. Why hurt Lucas!"
Her words lit a fire in George again. Emma could see the murderous intent in his eyes; he wanted her dead!
Emma's heart ached, but she didn't stick around. She sprinted to the blood donation center.
She knew Anna would never donate blood, not after what she did to Lucas. But Emma couldn't let anything happen to him.
At the blood donation center, Emma nervously sat in the chair. After her arm was disinfected, the nurse started drawing blood. She silently prayed, 'Lucas, you gotta be okay. I can't let you get hurt.'
As the blood flowed out, Emma's resolve hardened. Her blood type was the same as Anna's, a rare RHAB type, and it would definitely save Lucas.
After donating a pint, Emma weakly walked out. She heard George's voice behind her.
"Did a woman just donate blood for Lucas? Who?"
"That woman."
Hearing the nurse's response, Emma quickly ducked into the emergency stairwell.
She couldn't let George know it was her who donated the blood. She feared he'd think her blood was tainted and refuse to use it for Lucas. But right now, her blood was the only option.
Emma hid in the corner, watching George's searching figure pass by. She gritted her teeth and squatted down.
After donating blood, she felt incredibly weak. Waves of pain washed over her like a tide.
She curled up weakly in the stairwell, eventually passing out from exhaustion and pain. It wasn't until the next morning, when sunlight streamed through the window, that she slowly woke up and realized where she was.
As soon as she woke up, Emma heard Anna's voice in the stairwell. It was low and angry, like she was on the phone. Her voice was filled with curses, "I don't know where that woman came from, donating blood to Lucas. It would be better if he died, then George would definitely not spare that bitch Emma! That Lucas, I find him annoying. If he wasn't still useful, he should have died two years ago!"
