Chapter 112 Seizure
Emma took the deposit right away but didn't get back to Anna's message in time.
Right now, Anna was laser-focused on George and Emma in front of her.
Anna's face was a mask of pale rage, her eyes veined with red. Despite her internal mantra to maintain composure, the sight of George and Emma together eroded her patience, igniting every ounce of her ire.
"What are you doing here?" Anna couldn't hold it in anymore. She stormed over to George and Emma, fuming.
When she got to the table, Anna grabbed a wine glass, ready to throw it at Emma.
But Emma wasn't someone to mess with anymore.
Before she could dodge, George's big, protective frame stepped deftly in front of Emma. In the next instant, half a glass of red wine splashed across his chest, the liquid running in rivulets down his suit and forming bright red spots on the pristinely polished floor.
Both George and Emma looked down at the floor at the same time. The wine stains looked a lot like the blood that had once flowed from Emma when she was near death.
"Anna, calm down," his tone was sharp with annoyance and underscored by an unspoken warning.
"You're protecting her?" Anna snapped, glaring at Emma with pure hatred.
She waved the empty wine glass in the air, like she wanted to smash it over Emma's head.
This aggressive move really ticked George off.
George raised his voice. "Apologize to Ms. Taylor."
He stood firmly in front of Emma. At that moment, Anna felt George's intimidation. She couldn't believe George would be so harsh with her for Emma's sake.
'No way! I'm the most important person in George's heart,' Anna thought.
Meanwhile, Emma's demeanor remained composed, a faintly amused smile playing on her lips. She noticed the same shock and disbelief on Anna's face that she had once felt.
Emma was pleased deep down. She thought, 'How does it feel, Anna? Being forced to apologize by George isn't fun, is it? But this is just the beginning.'
Emma gently wiped the corner of her mouth, then stood up, grabbed her handbag, and left after a quick goodbye to George.
George watched her leave, feeling that her solitary figure under the restaurant lights looked kinda lonely.
"Emma," George murmured softly.
"Where are you going?" George suddenly chased after her.
Seeing this, Anna felt her anger flare up even more, and she followed.
The sound of high heels clicking on the floor, along with Anna's shouts, caught everyone's attention in the restaurant.
Heads turned, their gazes a tapestry of mockery, curiosity, and disdain. The collective judgment was palpable; no one envied Anna now. The scene was too humiliating.
Anna couldn't stand those looks and sped up.
When she stepped out of the restaurant, she saw George had already caught up with Emma, ushering her into his car with a protective urgency. As the vehicle roared to life and sped away, Anna was left amidst the fading exhaust fumes.
"George, stop!" Anna's voice was filled with endless anger and frustration.
She quickly hailed a taxi by the roadside and followed them.
Anna and George arrived at Crystal Street Store No. 2 almost at the same time.
Emma, looking all put together, saw Anna rushing over and pretended to be surprised. "Ms. Stuart, are you here to renovate your store too?"
Emma's words reminded Anna that she had spent five hundred million dollars to buy a store.
It was a birthday gift from George.
In all of Lakeside Haven, no woman could receive a five hundred million dollar gift, except for Anna.
Anna's initial anger was tempered by a quick resurgence of confidence. Straightening her posture, she offered Emma a triumphant smile. "Yeah, Crystal Street Store No. 1 is mine now. Since we're neighbors, let's see whose sales are higher."
Emma readily agreed, because she knew Anna's store would never open.
Emma's store was being renovated step by step. She came to check on the store every day.
Emma used to come alone. But recently, the employees noticed that George often followed her.
George didn't cause any trouble, just followed Emma around.
He was very handsome, and it always seemed like he was reminiscing about something when he looked at Emma.
Sometimes his gaze was cold, like a glacier, making people afraid to approach.
However, over time, the employees figured out his pattern of anger. Whenever Anna came, he would have a gloomy face. After Anna left, he would be relieved.
After half a month of renovation, both Crystal Street Store No. 1 and Crystal Street Store No. 2 were almost complete, with only the interior decoration and opening preparations left.
At this time, many official departments all came together.
The enforcement officers didn't give any explanation. They pulled the employees out of the store and sealed it up.
When Anna came to inspect her store, she found seven or eight seals on the glass door of Crystal Street Store No. 1.
Anna immediately found George and started crying.
"George, you have to help me. It must be that Isabella deliberately targeting me. She's just jealous that I can be with such an excellent man like you. George, stop looking at her. I really love you."
George didn't know what was wrong with him. He used to feel heartache and pity when he saw Anna cry.
Now, it only made him feel annoyed.
"This is your own store. If there's a problem, you should solve it yourself. Isabella is just a stranger to you; she wouldn't deliberately harm you. Anna, don't overthink it."
Anna looked at George with resentment. After all that, he just didn't want to help her, did he?
She didn't believe that the store couldn't open.
