Chapter 146 Bail

That night, the rain was coming down in buckets.

Anna picked this exact moment to head out. She wore thin clothes and made her way to the entrance of the Russell Villa. She pounded on the door, the sound echoing in the quiet night, but no one answered.

"George, are you there? Please open up! I need to explain! I have my reasons for this." Her voice wavered, a mix of desperation and hope. But still, no one came to the door.

"Why won't you open the door?" Anna's heart ached, but she wasn't about to give up. She banged on the door again.

"Open up! I know you're in there!" Her voice rang out in the empty villa area. But the door stayed shut.

Just as she was about to pound on the door again, a security guard approached, looking serious.

"Please stop. If you keep this up, I'll have to call the police." The guard warned with a no-nonsense tone, clearly annoyed by Anna's behavior.

It was pouring rain, and it was late. He'd been enjoying a quiet night watching TV in the security room when a resident complained about someone going nuts at their neighbor's door. Begrudgingly, he had braved the rain to deal with Anna's outburst.

His good mood was shot, and he was already showing restraint by not kicking her out immediately.

"My fiancé lives here! He didn't open the door! What gives you the right to kick me out?" Anna snapped, ignoring the guard's warning. She'd always been like this, never caring about what others thought.

She used to be the prized daughter of the Stuart family and George's fiancée, always treated with respect. But now, without that status, she was just like anyone else.

The guard had seen all kinds of people. He knew there was no reasoning with someone as unhinged as Anna. It wasn't worth arguing with her for his $3,500 salary, so he pulled out his phone to call the cops.

Before long, the police showed up in the rain, two officers with stern faces stepping out of the patrol car.

"If you keep causing trouble, you're coming with us to the station." The cops were clearly fed up with her antics.

"What right do you have to arrest me? Let go of me!" Anna tried to fight back, but it was useless.

"Do you know who I am? How dare you arrest me? Do you still want your jobs?" Anna screamed hysterically.

The cops ignored her, one casually showing his gun.

"I'll consider this assaulting an officer, and I can shoot you," the officer said flatly. "Wanna test me?"

Anna's arrogance finally faded. She was taken straight to the detention center. Sitting on the cold metal chair, she felt that her mind was racing with worry about the future. George had really abandoned her!

Just then, her eyes landed on a familiar figure. She squinted and saw Tom in the opposite cell, looking filthy and covered in fresh wounds. He looked especially desperate at that moment.

"Tom..." Anna's voice shook a bit, a mix of emotions bubbling up inside her. She never thought she'd see him here. "What are you doing here?"

"You bitch! If it weren't for you, would I be caught? Would I have done all those terrible things? It's all your fault!" Tom rattled the cell door like he wanted to break out and tear Anna apart.

"Quiet!" The police officer barked angrily.

Tom deflated like a balloon, slumping back into his seat and staring blankly ahead.

Anna couldn't tell what he was thinking, but his expression was terrifying, shifting from crying to laughing to a grimace.

"Tom, do you dare to commit another crime?" Anna whispered through the cell bars.

Tom sneered. "You can't even protect yourself now. What do you want to do?"

"I can bail you out. You do one last thing for me, and then I'll send you abroad." Anna's offer was tempting.

Tom's greedy heart was stirred again. "Get me out first, then we'll talk."

Anna knew Tom had agreed. She knew someone as unscrupulous as Tom would do anything for money!

When Sophia and Henry heard that Anna had been detained, they were at a loss. They rushed to the detention center to bail her out.

On the way, Sophia's mood was heavy, her mind replaying Anna's stubbornness.

"Anna must have been harmed because of George again." Henry's eyes flashed with anxiety. Every time something involved George, Anna would become very impulsive.

He thought, 'That Isabella must have done something to Anna again, causing her to be detained.'

"She must be so helpless now." Sophia wept silently.

Upon arriving at the detention center, Sophia and Henry explained the situation to the officer on duty and requested to see Anna. After confirming their identities, the officer led them inside.

When Anna saw Sophia and Henry walk in, a trace of resentment flashed in her eyes. She had waited for them for so long!

To prevent Sophia and Henry from noticing her emotions, she lowered her eyes and gently apologized. "I'm sorry, Mom, Dad. I was too impulsive and caused damage to your reputation. Now I'm a black sheep, but you still came and cared for me. I love you."

Anna's heartfelt words deeply stirred Sophia's and Henry's unconditional love for her. Sophia's eyes showed concern. She knew Anna must have suffered here. "Anna, don't cry. We're here to take you home."

Anna murmured, "It's so good to have you..." The family of three hugged each other.

"Don't hurt yourself for George anymore. He's not worth it." Sophia gently comforted, her heart filled with even more pity for Anna. Sophia thought, 'Poor Anna, how did you end up with heartless George?'

"I will." Anna nodded. Then she pointed to Tom in the adjacent cell. "Mom, Dad, bail him out too. What he said on the live stream was forced."

"Okay." Sophia agreed immediately, then hugged Anna and sobbed. "Anna, you're just too kind."
