Chapter 248 Poisoning

No matter if it was for his love or for Lucas's upbringing, George felt he had to bring Isabella home.

George turned to Emma, his eyes filled with deep affection. "Isabella, can you give Lucas a warm home and a happy childhood?"

Emma didn't say anything. She just pulled Lucas and George into a hug.

The two men were immersed in happiness, while Emma squinted, lost in thought.

Life had to go on.

Sophia and Henry had always tried to please Emma, and after learning she had risked her life to save Lucas, they were even more grateful. But Emma had other thoughts. Could Sophia and Henry be the masterminds behind the car accident?

She had refused to issue a letter of forgiveness, and they were furious, so they might have wanted to get rid of her. It was a very reasonable deduction.

Emma's attitude became colder towards both them.

One afternoon, while Emma was working, she received a call from Sophia.

"Ms. Taylor, are you free tonight? I'd like to invite you to dinner." Almost every evening, Sophia would extend an invitation.

But Emma always declined. "Thanks, Mrs. Stuart, but I have to work late tonight, so I can't make it."

Today's excuse was working late.

"That's okay, I'll have Lyanna prepare dinner and send it over." Sophia thought for a moment but decided not to give up.

"Really, it's not necessary, Mrs. Stuart. I don't want to trouble you." Emma didn't want to accept such kindness.

"It's no trouble at all; it's very convenient." Sophia insisted, her tone full of concern. "You work so hard, so you should eat well. I'll have Lyanna bring it over."

Emma felt Sophia's insistence, and though she was touched, she still refused. "I can really handle it myself; no need to trouble you."

"Don't be so polite, Ms. Taylor. You must be exhausted from working late. Eating something good will perk you up." Sophia's voice carried a hint of firmness. "I'll have Lyanna prepare it right away, just wait."

"Alright, thank you and Lyanna." Emma reluctantly agreed.

She couldn't quite understand her feelings towards Sophia's forceful decision.

In the kitchen, Lyanna was preparing dinner ingredients. Hearing Sophia's call, a sinister smile crept onto her lips.

The chance for revenge had come.

"Since Isabella is having dinner tonight, I'll prepare a special meal for her," Lyanna thought, her eyes gleaming with malice.

She quickly took a small bottle of poison from a drawer, something she had prepared long ago specifically for Isabella. Lyanna carefully poured the poison into the soup, stirring it well to ensure it wouldn't be detected.

"As long as she drinks this soup, I'll have avenged Molly." Lyanna's smile turned cold as she said.

Once dinner was ready, Lyanna poured the soup into a thermos, ready to deliver this "special meal" to Isabella's office. She imagined Isabella's painful expression after drinking the soup, feeling a rush of satisfaction.

"Poor woman, she has no idea what's coming." Lyanna muttered to herself, her face full of anticipated triumph.

On her way, Lyanna's mood grew increasingly cheerful, as if she could already predicate Isabella's despair.

Lyanna entered Emma's office with the thermos, wearing a fake smile. "Ms. Taylor, I brought you dinner. Eat it while it's hot."

"Thanks, Lyanna." Emma smiled as she took the thermos. Though she didn't want to accept Sophia's kindness, the meal was already there, and there was no need to make things difficult for a servant.

Therefore, she decided to accept the thermos.

As the store manager, her office was piled with documents, and the tasks at hand left her no time to think about dinner.

"Aren't you going to eat now?" Lyanna hoped to see her drink the poisoned soup.

She wanted to watch Isabella die!

"I'll eat later, I'm really busy right now." Emma thought Lyanna was just concerned for her and smiled politely.

"The soup will get cold, so it's best to drink it now." Lyanna insisted, but Emma was truly too busy.

With a new product launching tomorrow, she had to prepare the marketing strategy, so she sternly told Lyanna, "Lyanna, thank you for bringing the soup. I'll drink it later. I'm really busy right now, please don't disturb my work, okay?"

Emma was getting annoyed and couldn't help but complain inwardly, 'Why couldn't Lyanna understand?'

"Alright, but make sure you eat well. No matter how busy you are, you can't neglect your health." Lyanna had to back off, worried that pushing further might backfire. She gave one last concerned reminder.

Emma nodded and turned her attention back to her computer screen, the overwhelming tasks leaving her no time for dinner.

But as Lyanna exited the store, she glanced back at the brightly lit luxury shop.

Once, her Molly was a regular at these high-end stores, so young and beautiful, but she died at the hands of that bitch Isabella.

Why should her Molly die? She would make sure every bitch who bullied Molly died too!

Lyanna crouched in an alley across the street, waiting for Isabella to drink the soup and succumb to the poison.

While Lyanna waited, a young employee named Coralie entered Emma's office, looking exhausted. "Ms. Taylor, do you have anything to eat? I'm starving. Listen, my stomach is growling."

Emma didn't even look at Coralie, who always exaggerated.

But working late tonight, the young ones must be hungry, so she handed her the thermos. "Have some to tide you over. Once I'm done, we'll go out for a big meal."

"Great! Thanks, Ms. Taylor!" Coralie eagerly took the thermos, opened it, and the aroma wafted out. She started eating voraciously, praising Isabella's cooking.

"I didn't make it; someone else sent it." Emma explained.

"Someone else?" Coralie's eyes widened with curiosity, a mischievous glint flickering in them. She leaned in closer, dropping her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Who is it? Come on; tell me! Is it a man or a woman? Spill the details; I need to know everything!"

"Just enjoy your food!" Emma couldn't help but laugh. "Even food can't shut you up."

Coralie just shrugged it off and kept eating with a grin.

But after finishing the soup, her face suddenly turned pale, and sweat beaded on her forehead. She clutched her stomach, bending over in pain, her voice trembling. "Ms. Taylor, my stomach hurts so much!"
