Chapter 312 Celebration
Suddenly, a small hand gently tugged at Sophia's sleeve. "Grandma, Mom's gonna be so happy to see you."
Sophia looked down at Lucas's innocent face, feeling a warm rush in her heart. She squatted down, gently caressing Lucas's cheek, her voice trembling slightly. "Lucas, do you really think your mom will want to see me?"
Lucas nodded, his eyes full of trust. "Grandma, Mom's really kind. She'll definitely be happy to see you."
"But I've done so many things to hurt her in the past. What if she doesn't want to forgive me?" Sophia Sophia felt a sorrow deep inside.
"My teacher says that if you really mean it when you apologize, you can always be forgiven. Grandma, let's go see Mom together. She'll be so happy."
Courage welled up in Sophia's heart. She took a deep breath, her voice firm. "Alright, I'll listen to you, Lucas. Let's go see your mom together."
The bar was lit up with dazzling lights, and the music was deafening. Emma, Mia, Ethan, and Billy sat in a VIP booth, raising their glasses in celebration. The table was covered with champagne and fancy snacks, the atmosphere lively and joyful.
Mia raised her glass, her smile radiant. "Emma, congrats! You finally took down the Russell Group. George must be losing it right now!"
Billy laughed in agreement. "Yeah, Emma, that was genius! The Russell family must be kicking themselves now."
Ethan clinked his glass with Emma's, a hint of admiration in his eyes. "Emma, you did it. Congrats."
Emma smiled slightly, raising her glass. "Thank you all. Without your support, I wouldn't have made it through the past three years, let alone gotten here. You are my rock!"
The four clinked glasses, the champagne bubbles dancing in their glasses, symbolizing the new life they were about to begin.
Just then, a commotion erupted at the bar's entrance.
Phoenix and Scarlett stormed in, their eyes locking onto Emma's booth. Phoenix's face was twisted with anger and resentment, while Scarlett's expression was dark, her eyes filled with hatred.
"Emma!" Phoenix screeched. "How dare you drink here? George almost died in that fire because of you! Don't you feel any guilt?"
Scarlett stepped forward, her voice sharp. "Emma, you're so cruel! George loved you, and this is how you repay him? You don't deserve to be the daughter-in-law of the Russell family!"
The other patrons in the bar turned to this farce as the atmosphere instantly became tense.
Emma set down her glass and slowly stood up. She walked over to Phoenix and Scarlett. "You're not welcome here. If you're here to cause trouble, don't blame me for being rude."
Phoenix's face darkened further, her voice hysterical. "Emma, you have to take responsibility for George's injuries! Apologize! Pay up!"
That last demand revealed her true motive. With the Russell family's assets dwindling and the Russell Group under new ownership, she was desperate to seize anything of value before it was too late.
Emma smirked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "None of my business! George's injuries are his own fault. As for money, I'm not paying a dime. But thanks for the reminder. I was going to give you ten days to pack up and leave, but since you came looking for trouble, hand over the properties and luxury cars owned by the group right now."
Emma signaled to a nearby security guard, who immediately understood and left the bar.
She then waved to another security guard. "Get them outta here. We don't need their drama."
The bar was Emma's property, and the security guards naturally followed her orders.
They quickly moved forward, forcibly removing Phoenix and Scarlett.
Phoenix struggled, shouting, "Emma, you'll pay for this! I won't let you get away with it!"
Scarlett said coldly, "Emma, you'll regret this sooner or later!"
The two left in a disgraceful manner, their elegance and composure as socialites completely gone.
Emma watched them being dragged out, her gaze unwavering. She turned back to the booth, sat down, and raised her glass. "Don't let them ruin our night."
Mia laughed, raising her glass. "Emma, the way you handled that was so satisfying!"
Billy laughed too. "Yeah, Emma, you're unstoppable now. You're my new favorite hero; you've totally replaced Black Widow!"
Ethan clinked his glass with Emma's again, admiration in his eyes. "Emma, you did it. The future of the Russell Group is in your hands. We're all proud of you."
Emma downed her drink in one go. "Cheers! After this drink, let's go watch a movie!"
The real drama was unfolding right outside the bar.
In the cold night, Scarlett and Phoenix stood shivering at the bar's entrance. The luxury car that had been parked nearby was gone, and the driver was nowhere to be found. Scarlett frowned and pulled out her phone to call the driver.
"Where's the car? Why isn't it here?" Scarlett spoke in an explosive tone, ready to ignite at the slightest spark.
On the other end, the driver's voice was resigned. "Mrs. Russell, the car has been repossessed by Ms. Taylor. She told us to leave."
"What?" Scarlett's face turned livid. "How dare she take my car? You're employed by the Russell family, why are you listening to that woman?"
The driver sighed, "Mrs. Russell, we have no choice. Our contracts are with the Russell Group, and Ms. Taylor is the president now. We have to follow her orders."
Phoenix, standing nearby, turned pale as she overheard the conversation.
The two of them looked like they had just stepped out of a nightmare: one with a thunderous expression and the other as pale as a ghost.
"Aunt Scarlett, what's going on?"
Scarlett hung up the phone, trying to calm Phoenix. "Don't panic. Let's just get a cab and go home."
They flagged down a taxi and hurried back to a nearby apartment. Recently, Scarlett had been avoiding the Russell Mansion due to her strained relationship with Charles, all because of Emma.
If it weren't for Charles enabling Emma, the Russell family wouldn't be in this mess!
It was all Charles's fault!
However, when they reached the apartment and tried to enter the code, they found the lock had been changed, the door refusing to budge.
"What's going on? Why isn't the code working?" Scarlett repeatedly pressed the keypad, but the door remained locked.
"Aunt Scarlett, are we locked out?" Phoenix had a sinking feeling. Could Emma have been serious about reclaiming the Russell Group's assets immediately?
Scarlett gritted her teeth and pulled out her phone to call the property management. "This is Scarlett. My apartment's lock has been changed. Send someone to fix it immediately!"
