Chapter 231 I'm Back, Anna
"You bitch! This is all your fault!" Sophia's voice was sharp, her eyes wild with fury. Her emotions were spiraling out of control, her hands trembling as if she might lose it at any moment.
Seeing this, the police quickly stepped in, pulling her away and forcibly stopping her actions.
"Please calm down, Mrs. Stuart! We're just doing our job!" The officer's voice was calm and firm, trying to maintain order.
"Let me go! My daughter is innocent!" Sophia's voice was filled with despair, tears streaming down her face. "Anna! I will save you!" Her voice echoed through the police station, unable to fathom the torment Anna might face in jail.
Eventually, the police took Anna away, her figure slowly disappearing from sight, leaving Sophia standing alone in the interrogation room, her heart sinking into despair.
'I will find a way to get you out, Anna!' Sophia inwardly vowed, determined to do whatever it took to fight for Anna's justice.
In the prision, Anna was confined to a small, damp cell, where even the bread had a hint of mold.
Anna's temper grew increasingly volatile. Whenever a guard passed by her cell, she would shout, "I'm innocent! Let me out! I'm not a criminal! I'm the daughter of the Stuart family, and when I get out, none of you will be able to stay in Lakeside Haven!"
The guards were fed up, but due to her background, no one dared to be too harsh with her. They just shook their heads in resignation and continued with their work.
Meanwhile, outside Anna's cell, the other inmates began to look at her differently.
Despite her annoying temper, no one dared to mess with her.
Her family background still served as her shield here, and though the inmates were disgruntled, they didn't dare cross the line. In this prision, the influence of power and status still played on.
But that wouldn't last for long.
In the visitation room, Anna sat on a cold metal chair.
The iron door slowly opened, and Emma walked in, followed by a guard. She smirked, but her eyes held a complex emotion.
"Anna, it seems you're not doing too well." Her voice was clear, but carried a sharp edge.
"What are you doing here?" Anna felt a wave of disgust at Isabella's presence, wanting to avoid her gaze but unable to control her emotions.
"I'm here to tell you something." Emma smiled slightly, a hint of triumph in her eyes. "Did you know? George has announced that your marriage is null and void. You have no ties to the Russell family anymore. And you'll be staying here for many years, while George and I will get married and live happily ever after."
Anna's heart sank, a mix of anger and jealousy nearly driving her mad. She glared, her voice rising, "You talk nonsense! That's impossible! I'm George's wife! You have no right to be with him!"
"Is that so?" Emma's smile remained, her tone taunting. "But the reality is, you're powerless here, and I will become his wife. You'll never escape this fate."
"You wretched woman!" Anna screamed, her jealousy burning like fire. "How dare you come here to mock me? You're just a pathetic substitute!"
"Substitute? No, I'm the original." Emma's smile turned cold, a cruel glint in her eyes. "My dear sister, don't you know who I am?"
Anna asked, "What do you mean?"
"Don't understand? Let me make it clearer." Emma spoke slowly, each word deliberate. "I'm Emma; I have come back for revenge."
Anna's heart jolted, her face turning pale as if struck by lightning. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, her eyes wide with shock and unease. "What are you saying? Emma is dead!"
"I didn't die; I just took on a new identity." Emma's voice was calm and firm, as if revealing a great secret. "Everything you did to me, I will repay in full."
Anna's heart filled with fear and unease, her mind in chaos.
She couldn't imagine that what she thought was over had resurfaced. Her voice trembled as she tried to refute, "Impossible! You can't be back!"
"I'm back, Anna." Emma's voice was low, her eyes gleaming with an unyielding light. "You will pay for what you've done, and I will take back control of my life."
"You're a demon! Aren't you afraid I'll tell everyone?" Anna's heart was filled with despair and rage, as if her world was collapsing. She couldn't accept this reality, a wave of helpless panic rising within her. Emma's words were like a knife, stabbing into her heart, making her feel suffocated.
"Go ahead and tell everyone that I'm Emma. Let's see if they actually believe you."
Emma walked away calmly, ignoring Anna's murderous screams behind her.
No matter how much she yelled, raged, or went hysterical, Emma's steps never faltered.
Anna had once caused her to spend three years in prison, and now she would make sure Anna experienced the same torment.
So the life Emma had endured in prison, Anna would now live through as well.
As Emma left the prison, she gave a knowing look to a guard, who immediately understood.
During mealtime, the conflict erupted.
When Anna walked into the cafeteria, all eyes turned to her, and mocking voices surged like a tide.
"Look, the Stuart family's disgrace is here!" a burly inmate sneered. Her companions joined in the laughter.
"She still thinks she's a big shot!" another inmate raised her voice, drawing more attention. The room filled with jeers, as if they were watching a show.
Anna felt humiliated but tried to stay calm, ignoring the taunts. She kept her head down, quickly moving to the food line, trying to escape the malicious stares. But the inmates weren't about to let her off.
"Anna, slow down!" an inmate deliberately stuck out her leg, tripping Anna. Unprepared, she lost her balance and fell hard, looking utterly pathetic. Her palms were scraped, blood seeping out, pain shooting through her.
"Such a loser, can't even walk straight!" The surrounding inmates burst into laughter. Anna's face burned with embarrassment and anger, struggling to get up, but the pain made it almost impossible to move.
