Chapter 168 Ruined and Disgraced

Anna wasn't his Emily anymore. Maybe everyone changed as they grew up, but the sweet Emily had turned into someone cruel.

Maybe he shouldn't have chased after those childhood memories. At least then, Emily would still be kind in his mind, and he'd have those beautiful memories.

If none of this had happened, would Emma still be alive? Could he have had a happy life with Emma?

George suddenly realized it was time to let go of this childhood affection. He reached for his pocket out of habit, but the shell he'd kept for years was gone.

When had he lost it? Maybe it was a sign, telling him that some things just weren't worth trying to get back once they're gone.

"George, wait!" Anna called out desperately.

But George didn't stop. "Get some rest," he said coldly, and walked out of the hospital room, leaving Anna alone in the darkness and despair.

"What am I supposed to do..." she whispered weakly, George's indifferent gaze replaying in her mind like a final judgment.

Another mouthful of blood spurted out, staining the pristine white sheets. Anna tried to reach for the alarm, but her body was too weak, causing her to fall off the bed. More blood flowed from her mouth and nose.

Losing too much blood, Anna slipped into unconsciousness. Before losing consciousness, Anna was still murmuring, "I won't let you leave me! George can only be mine! Isabella, you'll pay just like Emma did!"

Anna thought about ending it all, hoping it would bring George back, and make him feel sorry for her. But she'd played that card before, and it wouldn't work again.

So, she decided to try something new.

Anna walked into Isabella's Miss Lady boutique. With an uncharacteristic smile, she greeted Emma with a beaming smile. "I heard you have some new designs, so I came to check them out."

"Help yourself!" Emma said coldly.

Anna said, "I've always admired your designs, especially the details. They're really impressive."

Isabella frowned and asked, "Ms. Stuart, this isn't the place for small talk. What do you want? Just say it."

Anna lowered her head, looking shy, hesitating for a moment before slowly saying, "I'm here to apologize, not just to you, but to all the designers. My work wasn't my original creation; I bought it. I'm sorry. Your designs are truly amazing, and I hope to learn from you in the future."

Emma didn't believe that Anna was here to apologize. She was curious to see what scheme Anna had in mind.

So, she smiled and said, "Alright, I accept your apology. But I can't speak for the other designers."

Emma still threw a wrench in Anna's plans. Anna, gritting her teeth, replied, "I'll hold a press conference and apologize to all the jewelry designers!"

"Sounds good!" Emma said with a grin.

The store was buzzing with activity, and Emma didn't have time to keep dealing with Anna. When Emma went to help a customer at the display rack, Anna quickly slipped behind the counter.

She glanced around to make sure no one was watching. Her eyes landed on Emma's phone, and she felt a stroke of luck. She grabbed the phone, which showed Emma's chat logs and unread messages.

Anna opened the messaging app and quickly typed: [8 PM, Stardust Dreams Hotel.]

After sending it, she deleted the message to cover her tracks. Then she put the phone back. With the message sent, she left. She had more to prepare.

Anna had already scoped out Emma's daily routine.

Every day, Emma picked up Seraphine from school around four, then went home for dinner. Around 7:30 to 8 PM, she would go for a walk or a night run.

And the park near her home was the perfect spot for an ambush. So, Anna booked a room at the Stardust Dreams Hotel near the park. Tonight, she had a sinister plan in mind.

It was finally 4 PM. Anna watched secretly as Emma picked up Seraphine from kindergarten and then went home. She waited downstairs until 7:30 PM when Emma, now in her workout clothes, was ready to go for a run.

As soon as Emma reached the park, Anna, following behind her, heard Emma's phone ring. Anna knew it was a message from George, inviting Emma to the Stardust Dreams Hotel that Anna had booked in advance.

Of course, the message wasn't actually from George. Instead, Anna bribed George's assistant to send the scheduled message.

The message was simple, inviting Isabella to the Stardust Dreams Hotel to discuss something about Emma.

Anna had noticed that Isabella was very concerned about Emma, so using Emma as bait to lure Isabella to the hotel was bound to work.

As for the message on George's phone, there was no need to worry. The assistant would delete the message at the right time.

This series of actions would create an illusion for the police that today's meeting was initiated by Isabella, putting Anna in the position of a victim.

Anna was right. Upon seeing the message, Isabella indeed went to the Stardust Dreams Hotel, where Anna was already waiting.

Emma had barely knocked on the door when Anna swiftly opened it and pulled her inside. Emma seemed to have anticipated this and was not surprised at all when she saw Anna.
