Chapter 662 Split Up and Act

The morning sunlight streamed through the curtains into the bedroom as Emma brushed Seraphine's hair. Seraphine sat at the vanity, her legs swinging back and forth, humming a new nursery rhyme she had learned.

"Mommy, is Aquilonia far away?" Seraphine suddenly looked up, her big eyes full of curiosity.

Emma's hand paused slightly, fighting back a lump in her throat. "Yeah, but it's beautiful there. There are snowy mountains and chocolate."

Before she could finish, the door was flung open. Michael strode in, dressed in a suit but with a dark expression on his face.

"Plans have changed," he said irritably, tugging at his tie. "There's trouble at the company. I need to handle it personally. You take Seraphine to the airport."

"Just me?"

"What, you don't want to?" Michael's thumb brushed heavily across her lips. "Isn't this the perfect chance for you to run away?"

"I wouldn't," Emma said, trying to stay calm, but her eyelashes trembled uncontrollably.

"You better not," Michael released her and turned to the bodyguard at the door. "Arrange two cars. Emma and Seraphine will ride separately."

Outside the mansion, two black sedans were already waiting. Seraphine clung tightly to Emma's leg, her face buried in her skirt. "Mommy, I don't want to ride alone."

Emma knelt down, holding back tears as she straightened Seraphine's collar. "Be a good girl, Seraphine. Mommy will be there soon." Her voice was so gentle it seemed afraid to shatter a dream. "Go with them to the airport and wait for me, okay?"

"Mommy, hurry," Seraphine said, sniffling, her little hand gripping Emma's dress tightly.

The bodyguard stepped forward and firmly picked Seraphine up. She immediately started crying, heart-wrenching sobs. "Mommy! Mommy!"

Emma's heart felt like it was being torn in two. She instinctively took a few steps forward but was yanked back by Michael. "Remember what I said," his voice was cold and piercing.

Watching the car carrying Seraphine drive away, Emma's nails dug deep into her palms, drawing blood without her noticing.

Emma got into the second car, realizing the driver was unfamiliar. As the car started, she quickly sensed something was wrong. This wasn't the route to the airport.

"Are we going the wrong way?" she asked, trying to suppress her fear.

The driver remained expressionless. "Mr. Russell's orders."

Emma discreetly reached for her phone, only to find the signal completely blocked. The car drove further off course, finally stopping in front of an abandoned warehouse. Her heart sank. Where was Michael sending her? Why separate her from Seraphine?

"Get out," the bodyguard ordered coldly.

Meanwhile, the car carrying Seraphine had safely arrived at the airport. The driver checked his watch and looked towards the entrance, but Emma was nowhere in sight. He immediately called Michael. "Mr. Russell, Mrs. Russell's car hasn't arrived yet."

Michael's low laugh came through the phone. "Don't worry about her. Just make sure Seraphine gets on the plane."

The warehouse door slowly opened, and in the blinding sunlight, George's figure became clear.

"Emma!" He rushed forward, his eyes full of concern and urgency.

Emma stumbled back. "Why are you here? Who sent you? Why did you come?"

George tried to steady her trembling shoulders. "Emma, listen to me..."

Emma pulled away. "You bribed the driver?"

George nodded with a bitter smile. "Yeah, it took a lot to get him to bring you here. Emma, you can't stay with Michael anymore." He pulled out a thick folder. "These are the proofs of Michael's crimes over the years. Smuggling, money laundering, murder. He's a monster!"

Emma turned her face away. "I don't care."

"You don't care?" George raised his voice in disbelief. "You're so kind, and he has done so many evil things. You don't care?"

"I love him!" Emma almost shouted, tears streaming down her face. "No matter what he does, I love him."

George grabbed her shoulders. "Look at me! Do you really love that monster?"

Emma broke free from his grip, her voice cold and sharp. "George, for the last time, stay out of my business!"

Her words cut into George like a knife. He staggered back, his face pale as paper. "Are you serious?"

"Absolutely." Emma wiped her tears. "Now, take me back to the airport."

George closed his eyes in pain. "If you won't think of yourself, think of Seraphine."

Emma's heart skipped a beat. Seraphine?

Did George know?

George continued to persuade. "He killed Seraphine. Do you want to stay with the man who killed Seraphine? Do you want Seraphine to be restless even in death?"

"Stay out of it!"

George's words hit Emma's most vulnerable spot. She had already experienced the pain of losing Seraphine once. She couldn't lose her again!

She knew how ruthless Michael could be, which was why she had to stay away from George to protect Seraphine!

As for why she wouldn't tell George the truth, wasn't it obvious? This was Sunterra, where Michael's influence was beyond anyone's imagination. Michael could know George's every move in Sunterra. How could she take the risk?

Maybe the driver George bribed was actually a spy Michael planted.

"Compared to Michael, you're nothing!" She looked at George's instantly pale face and said cruelly, "Don't ever show up in front of me again."

On the other side of the city, Michael was watching the surveillance screen, a cold smile on his lips. The screen clearly showed every corner around the warehouse.

"We've found George's hideout," he said to his men. "Go, wipe it out."

This was all part of his carefully crafted trap. Separating Emma and Seraphine, making the driver "betray" them, all to lure George out.

"Mr. Russell, what about Mrs. Russell?" one of his men asked cautiously.

Michael waved his hand nonchalantly. "Once George is dealt with, we'll bring her back."

His gaze fell on Emma's defiant figure on the screen, a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Emma, how much of your love for me is real?

Emma didn't want to argue with George anymore. George looked at her resolute figure, pain and unwillingness flashing in his eyes. He grabbed her wrist forcefully, causing her pain. "Come with me!"

"Let go of me!" Emma struggled desperately, her other hand frantically reaching for her phone. "I'm calling Michael."

George snatched her phone and smashed it to the ground. "Don't you get it? He doesn't care if you live or die!"
