Chapter 403 Identifying the Murderer

Phoenix let out a cold laugh, her voice a mix of sorrow and anger. "I saw her try to kill him with my own eyes! She's after the Russell family's money! Don't be fooled—she's the real murderer!"

Just then, Jack stepped out from the crowd, his face set in a righteous expression.

He walked over to Phoenix and loudly agreed, "That's right! I can back that up! Emma's the killer! She's always hated my dad, and now she's showing her true colors!"

Their accusations swiftly escalated tensions, immediately setting the scene ablaze.

Reporters frantically snapped photos, and the onlookers began to loudly condemn Emma. Someone even shouted, "Call the cops! Arrest her now!"

Seeing this, Phoenix smirked. She thought to herself, 'Emma, there's no escaping this time!'

She immediately pulled out her phone and dialed 911, her tone serious. "This is Scarlett. I want to report Emma for trying to murder Charles. Please send someone to arrest her right away!"

After hanging up, Phoenix and Jack wore the expressions of victors. As soon as the police arrived, Emma would be taken away, and public opinion would completely turn in their favor.

Meanwhile, Emma stood at the corner of the hospital corridor, watching everything unfold with a cold gaze.

There was no panic in her eyes, only a chilling resolve.

She clenched her fists, ready to fight back.

This game was just reaching its climax.

Emma had anticipated this situation and was fully prepared to counter it.

The tension in the hospital corridor was so thick it was almost suffocating. The police arrived quickly after receiving the call and approached Emma, their tone stern. "Emma, please come with us to assist in the investigation of Charles's attempted murder."

George immediately stepped in front of Emma. "I won't allow it. Scarlett and Jack's accusations are completely unfounded!"

His words sparked a heated discussion among the crowd. Reporters continued to take photos, and the onlookers began to criticize George. "George, what do you mean? Emma harmed your grandfather, and you're still defending her? Have you no heart?"

"Yeah, Scarlett is your mother. How could she falsely accuse Emma? Have you lost your mind because of Emma, to the point where you don't even trust your own mother?" someone shouted indignantly.

Jack also stepped forward, sneering at George. "George, you're shielding the murderer! That's your own grandfather. Are you just going to stand by and let the killer go free?"

Phoenix, pretending to be Scarlett, put on a sorrowful expression and said, "George, I know you love Emma, but you can't abandon your conscience for her! I saw her stab your grandfather!"

George's face turned livid, his fists clenched, his voice low but firm. "I'll say it again. Emma is innocent. Your so-called eyewitness accounts are lies! I won't let anyone falsely accuse her!"

As the standoff continued, Emma suddenly stepped forward. "Everyone, please listen to me. I am not the killer, and I can provide evidence to prove my innocence."

Her words disrupted the calm, triggering waves of reaction. The reporters immediately turned their cameras on her, and the crowd fell silent, holding their breath in anticipation.

Jack and Phoenix's expressions changed instantly, a flicker of panic in their eyes, but they quickly suppressed it.

Jack tried to keep his cool, sneering at Emma with obvious disdain. "Emma, don't even think about weaseling out of this! Evidence? What kind of evidence could you possibly have? You think you can fool us with some random nonsense?"

He strode up to Emma, trying to intimidate her with his presence, his voice raised to sound righteous. "My father was hurt by you, and everyone is worried about him. How dare you use cheap tricks to escape blame? Ridiculous!"

Phoenix quickly followed suit, her face a mask of grief, her voice trembling. "Emma, how could you be so heartless? Charles treated you so well, and you still dare to deny it! We saw you stab him with our own eyes. Do you still want to deny it?"

She glanced around at the reporters and the crowd, trying to stir their emotions. Sure enough, someone in the crowd echoed, "That's right! Emma, don't think you can fool us! Charles was harmed, and you can't escape responsibility!"

Seeing the crowd's reaction, Jack became even more aggressive, pointing directly at Emma. "Emma, I advise you to stop playing games! Who knows if your so-called evidence is fake? The only thing you should do now is confess and accept the law's punishment!"

Phoenix took a step forward, shaking her head in feigned sorrow. "Emma, you've really disappointed me. Charles always treated you with such kindness, and you did this. Now you're trying to deny it? How shameless!"

Their words aimed to brand Emma as the murderer. Jack even turned to the police. "Officers, don't be fooled by her! She's cunning and can fabricate any evidence! You should take her away immediately to prevent any more tricks!"

Phoenix nodded urgently. "Yes, officers, you must see through this and not let the real killer go free!"

The police, swayed by their words, looked at Emma, then at Jack and Phoenix, unsure of what to do.

Sensing his hesitation, Jack smirked and taunted Emma. "Emma, what else do you have to say? Confess now, and you might suffer less!"

Emma remained unfazed, her gaze steady and unwavering as she looked at Jack and Phoenix. "You keep accusing me of lying, yet you don't even dare to look at my evidence. What are you afraid of? Or are you just too guilty to let the truth come out?"

Jack's face turned pale, sweat beading on his forehead, but he forced himself to stay composed. "Stop spouting nonsense! What do we have to fear? It's you who's trying to divert attention!"

Phoenix, trying to stay calm, echoed, "Emma, stop denying it! We saw it with our own eyes. You can't escape!"

Emma let out a cold laugh, her eyes sharp as she looked at them. "If you're so confident, then let the police investigate thoroughly. If I'm innocent, then you're guilty of false accusations. Don't regret it later."

Jack and Phoenix's faces turned even paler, a flicker of panic in their eyes, but they quickly suppressed it. Jack gritted his teeth. "Fine, then investigate! I want to see what tricks you have!"

However, his voice carried a slight tremor, revealing his unease. Phoenix lowered her head, her fingers trembling slightly, silently praying that Emma's evidence wouldn't be too damning.

Emma calmly handed a USB drive to the police, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Then please, officers, investigate thoroughly and see who the real culprit is."
