Chapter 137 Live Broadcast
The door burst open, and a bunch of bodyguards stormed in, quickly surrounding Emma like a human shield.
Their eyes were like daggers, all aimed at Tom.
Tom was caught off guard, realizing things had spiraled out of control. His smug look vanished, replaced by sheer panic.
"Who are you?" Tom tried to keep his cool, but inside, he was freaking out, thinking this might be the end of the line for him.
Just then, the curtain rustled, and a faint noise came from behind it. Charles, sitting in a wheelchair, was slowly pushed out.
There was a hidden door behind the curtain. Charles had been listening the whole time. He knew everything!
"Did you kill Emma?" Charles cut straight to the chase.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Tom tried to play it cool, but his voice wavered.
Charles waved his hand impatiently, and the bodyguards pounced, pinning Tom to the ground.
"Cut the crap. Just tell Mr. Russell, yes or no?" one of the bodyguards barked.
"No, I didn't kill her. She died of illness," Tom stammered.
Despite Charles's current kind demeanor, he wasn't soft-hearted. As the founder of the Russell Group, he had a reputation for being tough and ruthless.
Now, in his old age, he didn't want to kill anymore, so he always appeared kind. But his past was as dark as George's.
Falling into Charles's hands meant facing some serious pain.
But Tom still wanted to take a chance. He hoped Charles wouldn't kill him in front of Isabella.
Unfortunately for him, Isabella was the one seeking revenge today. Charles was just her backup.
Emma stepped forward, smiling sweetly at Tom.
"Spill everything, including the shady stuff you and Anna did three years ago," she said.
"I didn't do anything bad."
"Then why did you get those transfers from her? I checked your bank account. You got big sums of money, like tens of thousands of dollars. If you weren't helping her, why would Anna give you money?"
"Because she liked me. George couldn't satisfy her, so Anna wanted to sleep with me!" Tom blurted out, spewing nonsense.
He didn't realize that his pathetic image was being broadcast live. Everyone at the venue could see it.
When he mentioned George's sexual inadequacy, all eyes turned to George's lower body.
Anna was in the same boat. No one would mock her to her face, but those judgmental glances were hard to miss.
When she looked around, she saw no one was looking at her.
"Don't listen to his crap. He's lying," Anna's mind raced, as she tried to come up with an excuse. "He's blackmailing me. If I don't give him money, he slanders me like this."
At that moment, Anna realized she had to stop the screen from playing. She yelled at the staff, "Quick! Turn off the screen!"
The staff scrambled to find the remote, but George stepped in. "Who dares turn it off?"
He turned his gaze to Anna. "Are you scared of Tom spilling the truth?"
"George, how can you say that? I love you so much. Would you really believe a scoundrel over me? Last time, he ruined my birthday party. Now, he wants to wreck the Russell Group's 50th anniversary. George, arrest him and throw him in jail."
The video kept playing. From this angle, people could only see Tom and hear a young woman's voice.
Emma chuckled softly, "If George were sexually inadequate, would Anna still be so loyal? They even have a son, Lucas. So, why did Anna give you money?"
"Because I was broke, and she felt sorry for me."
Emma sighed. "You're still lying. Let me spell it out. Three years ago, Anna had you kidnap her son Lucas and then framed Emma. Did you do that?"
"No, I didn't." Tom knew he couldn't admit it.
"But I have witnesses and evidence."
"Who?" Tom panicked. He thought he had covered his tracks. There couldn't be any evidence.
Emma clapped her hands, and a bodyguard handed her a USB drive.
Emma waved the USB drive in front of Tom. "This has surveillance footage from that day."
"Impossible. The street was out of power that day; there was no footage," Tom argued anxiously.
Emma sighed deeply.
"So you did plan it! But you're right; the street cameras were down. But..." Emma paused, "You missed the shops along the street. A restaurant caught everything. That afternoon, you carried Lucas to the roadside and waited for Emma to fall for it. Emma, being naive, saw Lucas alone and wanted to take him home. She hailed a cab, which also had surveillance footage. You and the cab driver drugged Emma and took Lucas. It's all on this USB drive. Want to see it?"
"I paid him to leave town. How did you find him?"
With that slip, everyone knew Emma was telling the truth.
"So you admit you kidnapped Lucas and framed Emma, trying to extort money from George, right? I can have the police arrest you for kidnapping right now."
"No, I didn't want to extort money or harm Lucas. It was all Anna's idea. She gave me money and handed Lucas to me. How else could I have entered the Russell Mansion and taken Lucas? It was all Anna."
"What else did she have you do?"
Tom decided to spill all of Anna's schemes. "She also had me spread rumors that Emma and I slept together. She told me everything. In reality, I never even touched Emma!"
