Chapter 251 Confidential Documents

George had no clue what Emma was up to. Worried that the bodyguards might not be enough, he decided to move his office into hers.

This way, he could keep an eye on her and be there to help whenever she needed it.

"Are you really moving in? Won't it mess up your work?" Emma asked, feigning concern.

"I promised to protect you, so close protection is the best way," George said, gently caressing Emma's smooth cheek and planting a kiss on her lips.

With George officially moved in, Joshua started delivering documents to Emma's store daily for George to sign.

"Ms. Taylor, where's Mr. Russell?" Joshua asked, now so familiar with Miss Lady's layout that it felt like his own office at the Russell Group. The staff were used to his presence.

"George went out to get something for me. He'll be back soon," Emma replied with a cheerful smile. "He went to get coffee for everyone. Want a cup?"

"No, thanks. I have urgent matters to attend to," Joshua said, handing Emma a document. "This document is really important. Can you make sure Mr. Russell gets it? It has to go straight to him, no one else."

Joshua's eyes showed a hint of anxiety as he pleaded.

"No problem," Emma smiled slightly, but inside she was already scheming.

If this document was so crucial, it was the perfect opportunity to create trouble.

"This document involves our agreement with a partner, so you handle it carefully," Joshua reminded her before hurrying out to deal with other matters.

Emma looked at the document in her hand and decided to make a copy to leak the business secrets at the right moment.

She quickly walked to the store's copier.

Carefully, she placed the document in the machine and pressed the copy button. As the copier whirred, the duplicate slowly emerged.

'Now I have leverage over the Russell Group,' Emma thought, feeling a surge of triumph as she waited for the copy to finish.

A few minutes later, the copy was done. She carefully stored it away.

Then, Emma organized the original document, ready to hand it over to George.

Years ago, Anna had stolen her designs. Now, she would steal George's business secrets.

'George, you'll pay for Anna's mistakes.' She wondered.

When George returned to the office, Emma handed him the document with a smile. "Joshua asked me to give this to you."

"Thanks, Isabella," George said, his eyes showing gratitude. He had no idea Emma had made a copy or what she was planning.

"No problem, I'm happy to help," Emma smiled, resting her head on George's shoulder. "I'll help you with anything."

She was already calculating how to use the confidential information to bring down George and the Russell Group.

She was waiting for the perfect moment.

However, the moment Emma was waiting for never came, just as the moment Lyanna was waiting for hadn't arrived.

Lyanna couldn't get close to Emma.

Every time she tried, the bodyguards' vigilance stopped her.

She didn't know that the police were also monitoring Emma.

Whether Emma was busy in the store, having meetings with colleagues, or discussing projects, the police surveillance was constant.

Emma was under police protection around the clock. The officers communicated through earpieces, staying on high alert. Their eyes were always on Emma.

Although Emma tried to go out as little as possible, as the store manager, she had to attend the headquarters' gatherings on weekends.

If Lyanna really wanted to assassinate Emma, this would be the perfect opportunity.

So the police surveillance team set up in advance, ensuring there were enough officers on standby around the event location.

On the day of the gathering, Emma arrived as expected, with the police discreetly monitoring the area. As night fell and the party atmosphere grew livelier, the police became more tense.

"Stay sharp; be ready to move," the commanding officer, his nerves on edge, reminded everyone through his earpiece. He was afraid Lyanna might strike, but part of him hoped she would.

In an inconspicuous corner, a cleaner in ordinary work clothes, holding cleaning tools, blended into the venue.

It was Lyanna.

Before entering, she had contacted a staff member responsible for the venue's equipment. It gave her the perfect opportunity to get inside.

Just minutes before the event started, the staff member, following Lyanna's instructions, quietly cut the power.

Instantly, the entire banquet hall went dark, and an eerie silence filled the room. Only the faint glow of emergency lights could be seen in the distance. Panic set in as people rushed to the exits, plunging the room into chaos.

'Perfect opportunity!' Lyanna thought, swiftly moving towards Emma. She navigated the darkness carefully and finally found her.

"What a coincidence!" Lyanna's voice echoed in the dark, tinged with a sinister smile.

At the sound, Emma's heart tightened, and she immediately sensed danger.

Lyanna, holding a crossbow, aimed at Emma. Emma quickly stepped back and jumped into the pool in the center of the venue.

Lyanna stood at the edge, firing several bolts that narrowly missed Emma.

The edge was too dangerous for Emma, so she decided to stay in the water, where the resistance could block the bolts.

Meanwhile, the police officers responsible for the venue's security reacted quickly in the dark, rushing towards the pool.

"Quick! Protect Isabella!" a police officer shouted, leading his colleagues through the chaotic crowd towards the pool.

Underwater, Emma held her breath, diving deeper. The water pressure surrounded her, the only sound her heartbeat echoing in her ears.

Lyanna waited anxiously by the pool, her curiosity about Isabella's whereabouts tinged with malice.

Lyanna suddenly realized Isabella might have surfaced elsewhere and escaped.

Emma swam underwater, looking for a chance to resurface. She had to find a way up before Lyanna noticed.

After a few seconds of diving, Emma felt she had distanced herself from Lyanna. She quickly swam up, trying to escape Lyanna's range.

Just as Lyanna prepared to shoot again at where Emma had fallen, Emma surfaced elsewhere, gasping for air.

"You won't escape!" Lyanna roared, aiming at Emma.
