Chapter 449 Lover

Emma knew herself well enough to understand that the man who could make her want to have his child must be the one she truly loved.

It seemed that in those lost memories, she had indeed let go of George and fallen in love with Michael.

Michael stood quietly to the side, his gaze gentle, the smile on his face never fading. Watching the heartwarming reunion between Emma and Seraphine, he silently made a wish that their future would be free from troubles, and he would do everything to protect this warmth.

At this moment, Emma finally believed everything in front of her. She also began to slowly hate George's deceit, hating the man who had used love to hurt her so deeply.

But there was still something Emma couldn't understand.

"I don't get it. How did George know about our past? How was he able to deceive me?"

Michael paused, his eyes flickering with complex emotions, as if weighing how to answer. He finally said, "I lost my journal, and later found it in George's study."

Emma's heart skipped a beat, suddenly feeling as if she had been deceived. The truth was finally coming to light.

George must have read Michael's journal to grasp all the secrets and impersonate him. Her voice trembled slightly, "So, everything was because he was manipulating things behind the scenes?"

"Yeah. He not only wanted to avenge Anna but also knew how deeply I loved you. So, he married you and hurt you to make me suffer."

Upon hearing, Emma felt her heart shatter, trapped in a turmoil of anger and sadness. She had thought George's love was pure, but now she realized every action of his was to achieve his dark goals.

"So you're saying George was using me from the start?" Her voice wavered.

"I know it's hard to accept. But you have to believe, this was all George's scheme. I never wanted you to get hurt, Emma."

Emma felt a sharp pain in her heart. The revelation was like a sharp knife, cutting through the long-standing fog in her mind, but it also deepened her hatred for George.

"I was fooled by him. All those years of feelings were just a lie." Her voice grew lower, almost choking.

"I feel guilty about it too," Michael admitted, a hint of self-blame in his eyes. "I've always thought maybe I should have come forward sooner to protect you from this unnecessary pain."

"You don't need to blame yourself. This isn't your fault." Emma shook her head, her understanding and trust in Michael growing. "No matter what, I'm grateful you didn't give up on me."

At that moment, she looked out the restaurant window, seeing the bright lights outside. The vibrant colors seemed to smile at her, a symbol of new beginnings.

"I'll protect you, Emma. I won't let anyone hurt you again." Michael reached out, gently holding her hand.

Emma held Michael's hand tightly, feeling a slight sense of peace.

"Michael, I want to leave Lakeside Haven for good." Emma took a deep breath, her gaze firm. "But I promised Grandpa I'd go to George's villa to get his things."

"I'll go with you," Michael said, his tone immediately serious. He understood her feelings but feared she might face danger again.

"I'll be careful," Emma reassured him. "I'm just going to grab the stuff and come right back. Besides, you need to stay with Seraphine. I trust no one else with her." Michael thought for a moment, still worried, but he knew he couldn't stop her.

"Alright, if that's what you want, I won't force you." Michael smiled slightly, a hint of indulgence in his voice. "You'll always be the brave girl in my heart." His hidden calculations didn't show, only transforming into gentle comfort, with his plans lurking in his thoughts.

"I'll be back soon. Wait for me." Emma smiled, her smile carrying a light-hearted playfulness, easing the tension in the air.

Seraphine listened intently, her eyes shining like stars.

She didn't know exactly what Emma was going to do, but it sounded dangerous.

Seraphine thought Emma was amazing, like a warrior.

"Mom, be careful. I'll be waiting for you!" She nodded vigorously, her childish voice full of concern and trust, making her seem especially innocent.

Emma felt a warmth in her heart, bending down to gently stroke Seraphine's head. "Don't worry, I'll come back safe. My Seraphine is the best child."

In this moment of reluctant farewell, Michael gently held Emma's hand, his heart filled with unease and anticipation. This moment of reliance and closeness made him secretly pleased. He hoped this separation would make Emma rely on him more, giving him a better chance to win her heart.

"I'll wait for you." He allowed Emma to go to George's villa alone, harboring his own selfish motives.

As long as the entanglement between Emma and George was completely resolved, he would have the chance to fully win Emma's heart.

"I'll be thinking of you."

The two of them looked at each other quietly, the world around them seeming to pause, with only their breaths gently intertwining in the air.

Finally, Michael took Emma to the entrance of George's villa.

Watching Emma's departing figure, Seraphine held Michael's hand and whispered, "Daddy, Mommy will come back, right?"

"Of course." Michael's eyes were gentle, quietly watching Emma's figure, his heart filled with determination and anticipation. However, behind that anticipation lay his satisfaction and calculation for the impending scheme.

Charles's belongings were in his room. Emma quickly packed up, and just as she was about to leave, the TV in the dining room started broadcasting the news.

"Anna has been sentenced to death for murder and will be executed tomorrow." The screen showed the name that had once filled her with fear, and Emma's heart skipped a beat.

"She's finally getting the punishment she deserves." Emma felt a surge of complex emotions, hard to control.

In the kitchen, two maids whispered, discussing Anna's crimes.

At that moment, Emma's mind suddenly felt a buzzing, the voices around her becoming muffled. Her vision blurred as a series of chaotic memories flooded in.
