Chapter 338 Girl

Mia quickly put on Emma's trench coat and pulled the hat low over her face. She gave Emma's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Emma, stay put and keep quiet. I'll go check it out."

Emma nodded, worry etched in her eyes. "Mia, be careful, okay?"

Mia flashed a confident smile. "Don't sweat it, I got this."

With that, she got off the car and headed briskly towards the ticket booth at the south gate. Emma curled up under the driver's seat, holding her breath, her heart pounding.

Mia reached the ticket booth, pretending to look around while quickly scanning the surroundings. She discreetly pressed the communicator hidden in her pocket and whispered, "Emma, relax, Lucas isn't here."

Suddenly, a loud explosion erupted from the ticket booth, flames shooting into the sky, and the blast wave knocked Mia to the ground. Emma's heart sank, and she almost bolted out of the car, but she forced herself to stay calm, biting her lip to keep silent.

As the smoke from the explosion began to clear, a man in black emerged from the shadows, smirking as he approached the truck. He scanned the area, clearly searching for something. Emma's heart raced; she knew he was after her.

The man reached the front of the truck, and Emma sprang from under the driver's seat, quickly starting the engine and slamming her foot on the gas. The truck roared to life and lunged towards the man.

Caught off guard, the man's face twisted in surprise as he dove to the side, narrowly avoiding the truck. He rolled on the ground, scrambling to his feet, his eyes filled with anger and fear.

Emma didn't stop, keeping her foot on the gas, the truck barreling towards the man. He turned and sprinted down a narrow alley. The truck, too bulky to maneuver quickly, couldn't follow, and Emma watched helplessly as he disappeared into the alley's depths.

Frustrated, she bit her lip but knew now wasn't the time to chase him. She quickly turned the truck around and headed back to the explosion site, picking up Mia who had been hiding nearby.

Mia jumped into the passenger seat, dusting herself off with a casual tone. "Emma, that was some quick thinking back there."

Emma, still shaken, asked, "Mia, are you okay? That explosion..."

Mia waved her hand dismissively. "I'm fine; I was ready for it. That guy was definitely up to something, but luckily we didn't fall for it. Let's go! We need to get to Lakeside Haven West Factory. Ethan and the others should be there by now."

The man, now hiding in a dark alley, leaned against the wall, panting heavily. His clothes were torn, his arm had several scrapes, and his face was covered in dust and sweat. He gritted his teeth and growled, "Emma, how dare you!"

Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen; it was Phoenix. He sneered and answered, his tone impatient. "What is it?"

Phoenix's voice trembled with fear and anxiety. "Was that explosion your doing? You said you'd quietly take out Emma. Why make such a scene?"

"Because I want Emma dead and gone."

"Is she dead?"

"No, she got away."

"What? She escaped? You caused all that commotion and still let her get away? I'm done. This has gotten too big. I don't want to continue. Emma is too much for us. If we keep this up, we're all doomed!"

The man's eyes turned icy, his voice low and menacing. "Phoenix, you think you can just walk away now? This is already in motion, and there's no backing out. Remember, I know all about your dirty secrets abroad. If you bail, I'll expose everything. You'll be disgraced and end up in prison!"

Phoenix's voice was filled with despair. "You can't do this! I just wanted revenge on Emma. I never thought it would come to this! Lucas is my aunt's grandson! I just wanted Emma gone, not to ruin myself!"

The man sneered, his tone dripping with mockery. "Too late for regrets now. You chose this path, Phoenix. There's no turning back. Emma and Lucas both have to go. Only then can we rid ourselves of this mess."

Phoenix's voice was on the verge of tears. "But I really don't want to continue! I'm scared we'll fail and get caught!"

"Scared? It's too late for that. Listen, Phoenix, if you back out, I'll make your life a living hell. Keep an eye on Lucas and don't let him slip away. Or else, face the consequences!"

Phoenix slumped in her chair, her face pale, eyes filled with fear and despair. She knew she was completely under the man's control, with no way out.

The man hung up, his eyes full of malice. He clenched his fist, muttering, "Emma, how dare you! I won't let you get away with this!"

His mind raced with thoughts, and finally he smirked. "Emma, I know you care about Lucas. Then I'll make you watch him die right in front of you!"

He quickly dialed a number, his voice cold and ruthless. "Plans have changed. Prepare the second plan immediately. Emma and Lucas must die. This time, I'll send them both to hell!"

After hanging up, his eyes were filled with madness and hatred. He knew there was no turning back now, only a path forward. He clenched his fist, whispering, "Emma, you forced me into this. I won't let you get away with it!"

As he stood in the dim alley, inspecting his wounds, he suddenly heard a faint noise. He looked up, seeing a black electric suitcase slowly sliding towards him, as if controlled by some invisible force.

He frowned, a hint of confusion in his eyes. "What the hell is this?"

Cautiously, he looked around to ensure no one else was there, then bent down and opened the suitcase. As the lid lifted, his pupils contracted, his expression shifting from confusion to shock, then to a cruel smile.

Inside the suitcase was a small girl, curled up and asleep. Next to her was a note that read: [The game isn't over.]

The girl, about three or four years old, had long eyelashes like little fans, gently fluttering. Her chubby cheeks still bore traces of dried tears, indicating she had cried before passing out.

Her delicate features resembled a porcelain doll, with a high nose and small, soft lips. Even in her sleep, she exuded a fragile, pitiable aura. Her brows furrowed slightly, as if experiencing a nightmare, making one want to reach out and soothe her fears.

However, the man standing over her felt no pity. His eyes were cold and brutal, a cruel smile playing on his lips. He looked down at the girl, as if admiring a piece of art he was about to destroy.

"Such a pretty thing," he murmured, instantly recognizing the girl's identity. His voice echoed with a twisted glee. "It's unfortunate, but you're destined to be my sacrifice."

He reached out, his rough fingers gently tracing the girl's cheek. The touch seemed tender but carried a chilling threat. The girl's body trembled slightly, sensing his touch, but she remained asleep.
