Chapter 389 Honey Trap Scam
Bianca immediately played along, putting on a terrified expression. "Honey, I didn't! He... he tried to rape me! Help!" She deliberately wiped away a tear, her voice trembling slightly.
Jack, still in a daze and heavily intoxicated, tried to defend himself. "I didn't! I didn't do anything!"
He staggered, his steps unsteady, his eyes unfocused. He couldn't articulate his thoughts clearly and had no grasp of the situation, feeling weak and unable to stand properly.
The burly men saw this and sneered, stepping forward without hesitation to deliver a brutal beating.
Their punches were precise and forceful, landing on Jack's body with brutal impact. Their kicks sent him stumbling backward until he finally collapsed to the ground.
"Still denying it? Rapist! If we don't teach you a lesson today, it'll be an insult to my wife!" The leader of the group roared, his voice filled with anger and menace.
Jack writhed in pain on the ground, clutching his head and curling up into a ball. "I really didn't! Stop hitting me! I didn't do anything!" His voice trembled, tinged with sobs, his face contorted in agony and fear.
However, his pleas were seen by the men as nothing more than feeble struggles. No one believed him.
"Not admitting it, right?" The leader threatened ominously, crouching down and leaning close to Jack's face. "If you don't pay up, we'll call the cops. Not only will your reputation be ruined, but you'll also end up in jail!" His tone was icy, his eyes filled with malice.
Jack was terrified, cold sweat pouring from his forehead, his body trembling uncontrollably.
He feared the scandal getting out, and even more, he feared the impact it would have on his reputation.
Despite the Russell family's decline, many in high society still knew him. He didn't want to become the subject of their gossip!
So, with a trembling voice, he said, "I'll pay! I'll pay right away! Please, don't call the cops!"
At that moment, one of the men noticed Jack's ID lying on the ground. He bent down to pick it up and examined it closely, then exclaimed to the others, "He's from the Russell family?" His tone carried a hint of surprise and excitement.
"Which Russell family?"
"The one from Lakeside Haven, which other Russell family?"
The men exchanged knowing glances, a shrewd calculation flashing in their eyes. Although the Russell family had fallen from grace, everyone knew of their former glory and lingering influence. They instantly realized this could be a bigger opportunity, far more valuable than their original extortion plan.
"Mr. Russell," the leader smirked, "let's discuss the price. Tonight's incident isn't a small matter for you or the Russell family." He deliberately spoke with a meaningful tone, hinting that the seriousness of the situation was far beyond Jack's imagination.
Jack's panic intensified upon hearing the mention of the Russell family.
He knew that if this blew up, he would become the laughingstock of high society. He gritted his teeth, enduring the pain, and said in a low voice, "How much do you want? As long as you don't make a big deal out of this, I'll try to meet your demands."
The men grinned even more wickedly. They knew Jack was completely under their control. The upcoming negotiation would be a one-sided slaughter.
"Alright, then fork over five million dollars for us to spend."
"Five million dollars? I don't have that kind of money!" Jack was shocked.
"Look at the camera in my hand and tell me, do you have it or not?"
From the moment they entered, the men had been holding a camera, recording the entire confrontation in clear detail.
Jack, cornered by the men, reluctantly began to gather money. He first pulled out a bank card from his pocket with trembling hands and handed it to the leader. "This is all my savings, there's over three million dollars in it."
The leader took the card and sneered. "Three million dollars? That's far from five million! Are you trying to play us?"
Jack's face turned pale, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. He hurriedly explained, "This really is all my savings! I don't have that much money right now!"
The men clearly didn't believe him. The leader grabbed Jack's collar and snarled, "Cut the crap! Do you think we'd believe you? How could someone from the Russell family possibly be poor? Hand over the money, or don't blame us for being ruthless!"
Jack, trembling with fear, quickly took off a luxury watch from his wrist. "This is my last valuable item. This watch is worth at least a million dollars!"
The leader examined the watch, confirmed it was genuine, and showed a satisfied smile. But he quickly reverted to his fierce expression. "That's barely over four million dollars, still short by over a million!"
Jack was on the verge of tears. He gritted his teeth and pulled out a set of keys from his pocket. "This is for my car, parked in the underground garage downstairs. It's worth at least a million dollars!"
The men exchanged glances, and one of them took the keys and quickly went downstairs to check. A few minutes later, he returned and nodded. "The car is real, and it's valuable."
However, the leader was still not satisfied. He sneered. "That's barely five million dollars, but you said you couldn't come up with that much. It looks like you were playing us!"
Jack hurriedly shook his head, his voice trembling. "No, I wasn't! This really is all I have! I don't have a single penny left!"
The men clearly didn't believe him. The leader kicked Jack in the stomach. "Cut the crap and hand over the money."
Jack was kicked to the ground, curling up in pain, cold sweat pouring from his forehead. "I'm not lying! I really don't have any more money!"
The men sneered, ready to continue their assault. Jack, seeing this, quickly shouted, "Wait! You can contact my son, George, the former head of the Russell Group. He definitely has money!"
The men, realizing they couldn't squeeze more out of Jack, called George, demanding a huge ransom and threatening to expose Jack's scandal if he didn't pay.
On the other end, George's voice was chillingly calm. He listened to the threats without any emotion, as if hearing about something unrelated to him.
When the men finished, he responded with a single sentence. "None of my business! Handle it however you want." He hung up without hesitation.
The men were stunned, not expecting George to be so cold-hearted.
They looked at each other, momentarily at a loss.
Jack, hearing this, felt as if he had fallen into an icy abyss, his face pale. "George, how could he do this?"
Desperate, Jack tried to contact Scarlett, hoping she would help.
However, the phone only returned a cold message that it was turned off. Jack's heart sank completely. He felt abandoned by everyone, trapped in a hopeless situation. He slumped to the ground, eyes filled with confusion and helplessness, like a caged animal that had lost all hope.
Meanwhile, in Scarlett's small apartment, Phoenix was rummaging through her belongings, searching for her assets.
