Chapter 668 Reunion

The footsteps behind her were getting closer. Emma grabbed his sleeve in a panic. "Help me."

The man's eyes flashed, and he quickly pulled her behind a large tree. The golden retriever sat obediently in front of them, blocking the view. He lowered his voice, "Don't make a sound."

The bodyguards chased to the vicinity, looking around. "Strange, she definitely ran this way."

The golden retriever suddenly barked twice and ran in the opposite direction. The bodyguards were immediately drawn away.

"Alright, it's safe now." The man breathed a sigh of relief and flashed a sunny smile. "I'm Oscar Gutierrez, I live nearby. You seem to be in trouble?"

Emma finally had a chance to take a good look at him. He appeared to be in his early twenties, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, with a backpack slung over his shoulder, looking very much like the boy next door.

"Thank you," Emma said sincerely. "I'm Emma. I need to get to the hospital."

Oscar blinked. "At this hour? Do you want me to take you? I happen to have a car."

Emma hesitated for a moment, but there really wasn't a better option right now. She nodded. "That would be great."

Oscar's car was a low-key black sedan, with a clean interior and a few medical textbooks on the back seat. "I'm studying at the medical school," he explained.

On the way, Oscar considerately didn't ask many questions. He just played some soft music and occasionally checked Emma's condition through the rearview mirror.

"You don't look well. Do you want some water?" He handed her an unopened bottle of mineral water.

Emma gratefully accepted it.

"Are you going to Royal Hospital?" Oscar asked casually. "The security there is tight. You can't get in without an appointment."

Emma bit her lip. "I have someone I must see."

"I see." Oscar seemed thoughtful. "My mentor works there. Maybe he can help."

When they arrived at the hospital entrance, they were indeed stopped by security. Oscar showed a work ID and whispered a few words to the guard, who surprisingly let them through.

"How did you do that?" Emma asked, astonished.

Oscar winked playfully. "Perks of being a top student." He parked the car. "Come on, I'll take you inside."

The hospital corridors were empty, with only their footsteps echoing. Oscar led her skillfully, avoiding the surveillance cameras, to the VIP ward area. From a distance, Emma saw two bodyguards in black standing outside a room.

Emma recognized these bodyguards from when they reported to Michael, confirming they were Michael's men. Even without going over, she could be sure George was in that room.

But Michael's men definitely wouldn't let her in.

"Damn," she turned pale. "There's someone guarding."

Oscar patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, I'll think of something." He pulled out his phone and sent a message. Shortly after, an alarm sounded at the nurse's station. The bodyguards exchanged glances, leaving one to guard while the other went to check the situation.

"Now there's only one left," Oscar whispered. "I'll distract him, you get in quickly." Without waiting for Emma's response, he strode over to the bodyguard, whispered something in his ear.

The bodyguard's eyes widened in surprise, then turned to look at the room. When he saw everything was normal through the glass on the door, he relaxed.

Just as the bodyguard let his guard down, Oscar pulled out a damp white cloth from somewhere and pressed it over the bodyguard's nose and mouth.

The bodyguard quickly lost consciousness.

Oscar hurriedly waved to Emma. "Quick, while no one's here, get inside."

Emma was stunned by Oscar's bold move.

Who exactly was this Oscar? He could take down Michael's men so easily. He was definitely not an ordinary college student.

"Who are you?"

"Are you sure you want to chat with me now? The other bodyguard could come back any moment."

"What about him?" Emma pointed to the unconscious bodyguard on the ground.

"Don't worry, I've done worse things than this. I'll take care of it." Oscar smiled mischievously. "Leave it to me."

Emma gave Oscar a deep look, then slipped into the room, not caring how Oscar would deal with the bodyguard.

Whether he was friend or foe, she would decide after seeing George.

Inside the room, George was sleeping, and Celeste was also sound asleep on the care bed beside him.

Emma covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face. He had lost so much weight, his face pale to the point of transparency, his chest wrapped in thick bandages. She trembled as she reached out, gently touching his cheek.

At that moment, footsteps suddenly sounded in the hallway.

Emma hurriedly hid behind the curtain, hearing the bodyguard making a phone call at the door. "Mrs. Russell didn't come, everything's normal. But you really need to deal with the other guy. I told him to watch the door, and he wandered off again, probably to take a dump. Always with the bathroom breaks!"

The door had a small window, through which the bodyguard could see the room's condition.

Emma hid behind the curtain, not daring to move, quietly listening to the bodyguard's complaints.

But suddenly, his voice stopped abruptly, followed by a dull thud, as if something had hit the floor.

Emma dared not move even more.

Then, the door opened.

Emma's heart leapt to her throat.

The curtain was pulled open, exposing Emma!

Was she going to be captured by Michael's bodyguards again?

No! Emma looked up at the person in front of her. It was him?

Oscar! What was he doing here?

Moonlight streamed in from the window, illuminating Oscar's face. The sunny smile was gone, replaced by a chilling coldness.

"What do you want?" Emma asked calmly.

Oscar gave Emma a strange smile. "Nothing much, just reintroducing myself. Oscar, second-in-command of the Gutierrez Gang. Kirk is my brother."

Emma felt like she had fallen into an ice cave.

This "helpful college student" was actually from Michael's arch-enemy, the Gutierrez Gang!

"Don't look at me like that. I genuinely want to help you." He handed her a business card. "Keep it. When you need it, you'll know how to find me."

With that, he jumped out the window, his figure quickly blending into the night. Emma stood there, stunned, holding the business card that read "Chief Advisor of the Gutierrez Group, Oscar."

Below that line, there was a small handwritten note: "Attack is the best defense."

Emma looked at the note, then at the sleeping George and Celeste. Maybe now, she could fight back.
