Chapter 150 Drugging

In a bustling coffee shop, Anna strolled in, made her way to the counter, and flashed a smile at the barista. "Hey, can I get an iced Americano and a latte with some sugar? Thanks a bunch!"

The barista quickly made the coffee. After Anna received it, she dropped a few pills into one of the cups and then walked towards Emma. "I figured you might not be into bitter coffee, so here's a latte for you."

Emma eyed the latte. The lid had a drinking hole, and she inspected it carefully, finding no signs of tampering. So the drug must be in the coffee itself. No wonder she took so long.

Emma couldn't help but chuckle to herself. Anna was using the same old trick.

Emma pushed the latte back to Anna. "I'm not a fan of milk in my coffee. Let's switch. I want the iced Americano."

Anna's face fell. "No way, the iced Americano has too much ice. It's not good for girls. You should have the hot latte."

Emma raised an eyebrow. "But you're a girl too. If iced coffee isn't good for me, it's not good for you either. So let me have it."

"No, this latte is just for you. If you don't drink it, it means you haven't forgiven me."

"I want to drink it, but I really don't like milk in my coffee. Why are you so insistent on me drinking this latte? Did you put something in it?"

Emma looked at Anna suspiciously, and Anna started to panic. "How could I put something in the coffee? I just think the latte tastes better, and I want you to enjoy it."

"If it's so good, then you drink it. I prefer the iced Americano."

Emma held the latte up to Anna's lips. "Take a sip. If you don't, I'll really think there's something in this coffee."

Anna gave up arguing and took a small sip. "See? I drank it. No problem, right?"

"You just took a tiny sip. Is the coffee that bad? Forget it, I won't drink the iced Americano either." Emma pushed the iced Americano away.

Anna started to panic. She decided to go all in.

Anna took another sip, but didn't swallow. Emma noticed but didn't say anything. She pointed to the ceiling. "What's that?"

Anna looked up. At that moment, Emma pressed a point on Anna's throat, making her swallow the coffee involuntarily.

Anna's eyes widened in shock. She had just put a hefty dose of the drug in the coffee. In less than half an hour, the drug would kick in, and she'd be done for. Anna quickly tried to make her exit.

"Ms. Taylor, let's catch up another time. I really have to go now."

"Let's stay a bit longer." Emma pulled Anna back to the chair. While pretending to pick something up, she pressed a nerve in Anna's leg.

Anna's leg instantly went numb, making it impossible for her to leave.

Ten minutes later, Anna's consciousness began to blur. Emma took Anna's phone and checked the chat history, uncovering Anna's plan. Anna intended to drug Emma with the coffee and then deliver her to a creepy guy, Kimball Church, who was waiting outside in his car, ready to snatch Emma as soon as she passed out.

But now, it was Anna who was out cold.

Emma wondered if their plans would still go ahead. To help Anna better execute her plan, Emma used Anna's phone to send a message to the man, 'Come pick me up.'"

Then, she grabbed her bag and slipped out of the coffee shop through another door, keeping an eye on the coffee shop from a distance.

Anna, under the influence of the drug, fell into a deep sleep. Her head rested on the table, looking oddly peaceful. But this calm didn't last long.

The sleazy Kimball walked into the coffee shop, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on the sleeping Anna. A sinister smile spread across his face.

"Not bad," Kimball muttered to himself, slowly approaching Anna.

He leaned close to Anna and whispered, "Wake up; come with me." But Anna stayed in her dream.

Kimball decided to pick Anna up and leave the coffee shop, walking towards his car parked at the entrance.

A few cops were patrolling nearby and saw the commotion. They quickly blocked Kimball's way.

"Hold it! What are you up to?" one of the officers demanded.

Kimball was a bit startled but kept his cool, putting on an innocent face. "Just taking my girlfriend home. What's the issue?"

"Got any proof she's your girlfriend?"

Kimball smirked, pulling out his phone and showing the chat history to the officers.

"Check this out," he said, pointing to the messages. "She invited me over and said she'd be napping around noon."

The officers exchanged looks, a bit unsure. It was hard to believe someone as stunning as Anna would be with Kimball, but the chat history was legit. It clearly showed Anna had invited Kimball over and even asked him to carry her away if she fell asleep.

The cops had no choice but to let him go.

Kimball's lips curled into a smug grin as he carried Anna away, already thinking about where to take her for some fun.

Emma was almost laughing out loud. Anna's plan to frame her had totally backfired. The thought of Anna having to sleep with such a sleazy guy made her feel a bit sick.

Emma took a sip of lemon water to calm her stomach. She wanted to head back to the café right away but decided to share the good news with Mia first. Since George had stopped suspecting her, he no longer had people tailing her and Mia.

Now, Emma could meet Mia openly. But to stay low-key, they picked a private restaurant.
