Chapter 249 Poisoned to Death

Seeing that, Emma immediately put down her work and asked with concern, "Hey, what's going on? Are you okay?"

"I don't know; my stomach hurts so bad, like it's gonna explode!" Coralie groaned, clutching her abdomen and leaning forward, trying to ease the unbearable cramps.

The pain in her stomach felt like a knife cutting through her, making it almost impossible for her to stand upright.

Then, Coralie felt a wave of intense nausea and began to vomit uncontrollably. Her vomit was a mix of undigested food and bitter liquid, filling the office with a nauseating smell.

She started sweating profusely, cold sweat dripping from her forehead like raindrops. Her face turned pale, and her lips took on a bluish tint, making her look extremely weak.

After a short while, Coralie began to cough up blood.

Emma's heart tightened, realizing the severity of the situation, and she immediately called 911.

"It hurts more and more, I feel so awful," Coralie's voice was weak, her face growing paler, clearly in a dire state.

"Hang in there, the ambulance is on its way. You'll be okay," Emma reassured Coralie while administering first aid.

Soon, the paramedics arrived, quickly placing Coralie on a stretcher and providing emergency treatment. Emma followed them into the ambulance, instructing others to secure the scene.

She suspected that Sophia had poisoned the food.

The ambulance's siren wailed through the night, and Emma held Coralie's hand tightly, filled with anxiety. She looked at Coralie's pale face and the blood at the corner of her mouth, her heart aching. The usually cheerful and enthusiastic girl now seemed so fragile.

The ambulance sped through the night, and Emma's heart was filled with helplessness and pain. If it weren't for her, Coralie wouldn't be suffering this undeserved disaster.

It was all her fault!

She remembered Coralie's care and support, the warm moments they shared flooding back. They had spent countless busy days together, sharing joys and troubles, their bond growing deeper without them realizing it.

But now, the lively Coralie lay before her, on the brink of death.

"You have to hold on. Once we get to the hospital, everything will be okay," Emma tried to comfort Coralie, silently praying for her safety.

"I'm scared," Coralie's voice grew weaker, a hint of despair in her eyes.

"Don't be afraid; I'm right here with you," Emma said softly, her eyes shining with determination.

She was the manager and Coralie's pillar of strength; so she couldn't fall apart!

The ambulance finally arrived at the hospital, and the medical staff quickly wheeled Coralie into the emergency room, with Emma following closely behind. She silently prayed for everything to turn out well.

The emergency room's lights were blinding, and Emma waited anxiously outside, filled with unease.

Her hands were clenched tightly, her nails digging into her palms, trying to distract herself from the worry. Coralie's words echoed in her mind, filling her with fear for her own situation.

A doctor hurried out of the emergency room, looking grave, and Emma's heart sank.

"Doctor, how is she?" Emma asked urgently, her voice trembling.

"We're doing everything we can, but her condition is very critical," the doctor said with a tone of helplessness. "After examination, we found she was poisoned. We're still identifying the specific toxin."

"Poisoned?" Emma's heart tightened.

It must have been the food Sophia sent!

Sophia wanted to kill her, but she escaped, leaving an innocent person to suffer.

Sophia, how could you be so cruel!

Emma thought back to the happy times they spent at the amusement park. She felt foolish for her past joy, realizing that Sophia might have been planning her poisoning all along.

"We're administering antidotes, but her vital signs are unstable. Please prepare yourself and contact her family as soon as possible," the doctor said before hurrying back into the emergency room.

Emma's heart felt like it was being hammered, filled with unbearable pain. She repeatedly paced at the doorway.

Time passed slowly in her anxiety, and Emma's mood grew heavier.

Finally, the emergency room door opened again, and the doctor came out, looking even more serious. Emma's heart leaped into her throat.

"I'm sorry; we did our best," the doctor's words hit Emma like a thunderbolt, leaving her mind blank and her hearing muffled.

"She... she died?" Emma could hardly believe her ears.

"Yes, I'm very sorry. The poison dose was too high, and she was too deeply poisoned," the doctor said with a tone of regret and apology.

Emma's heart felt torn apart, tears streaming down uncontrollably. She couldn't control her emotions, her legs giving way, almost collapsing to the ground. Her hands hung limply, filled with despair and pain.

"Why did this happen?" Emma muttered, tears flowing endlessly.

"It's all my fault. I shouldn't have let her eat that food," Emma's voice choked with sobs, filled with guilt and helplessness. She felt an overwhelming sense of guilt, thinking that if she hadn't trusted Sophia, Coralie wouldn't have died.

It was her stupidity that led to this tragedy.

"If I had noticed something off about Sophia earlier, maybe I could have stopped all this," Emma felt deeply remorseful.

"Miss," a nurse's voice broke through her thoughts. Emma looked up to see the nurse's concerned expression.

"It's my fault," Emma's voice trembled, tears streaming down.

"It's not your fault," the nurse gently comforted, holding her hand to give her strength. "It's the poisoner's fault. You did nothing wrong. Don't be sad, go to the police and let them handle the rest."

At that moment, an elderly couple with a child rushed into the hospital, their faces full of panic and fear.

"My daughter! Where's my daughter?" the mother cried out, her voice echoing through the hallway, heart-wrenching.

These were Coralie's parents, Indigo and Beatrix. As soon as they heard about Coralie, they rushed to the hospital.

"She... she's in the emergency room," Emma tried to explain, but her voice was drowned out by their cries.
