Chapter 173 Rescuing Anna

In just a few seconds, the three police officers were subdued one by one. The only conscious officer scrambled out of Emma's house, tumbling and crawling.

Anna, who had just come out of the dressing room with Emma, witnessed the scene. "What are you doing?! The bitch hasn't been caught yet!" Anna's sharp voice drew the cold gaze of the female officer, and Anna instantly fell silent, intimidated.

However, she felt that this female officer looked somewhat familiar.

"Ms. Stuart," the officer clapped her hands as if dusting off non-existent dirt, "You're not welcome here. Please leave."

With that, the officer placed her hand on her lower back.

Her uniform bulged slightly, suggesting that she was carrying something hard. Judging by the shape, Anna suspected it was a gun.

Terrified, Anna didn't dare to stay any longer. She abandoned the police officers lying on the ground and fled hurriedly.

Once Anna was out of sight, the officer took the object from her lower back and handed it to Emma with a playful grin. "Here, I brought this especially for you."

Emma looked at the object in her hand and burst into laughter. It wasn't a gun at all; it was a banana. Anna had been scared off by a banana.

Emma, munching on the banana, looked at the officer's attire and clicked her tongue in amazement. "So cool, Mia!"

The female officer was none other than Mia!

If Anna had looked more closely, she would have noticed that Mia's uniform had no shoulder patches. She had been practicing Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) for years and had been itching for a sparring partner. Today provided the perfect opportunity.

So she had changed into the uniform and took the chance to teach these bullies a lesson.

Although Anna had seen Mia before, the changes in her over the past few years, coupled with the short-haired wig she wore today, had prevented Anna from recognizing her.

A bizarre arrest operation ended just as strangely.

Anna went to the police station several times, but the police never sent anyone to arrest Emma again. Anna repeatedly urged Sophia to use her connections, but Sophia no longer had the courage to approach the chief.

Anna couldn't understand why her meticulously planned scheme had failed. Every detail had been considered, and Isabella was undoubtedly the culprit!

Why were the police so inactive? Why hadn't they arrested her yet?

When she saw the long-vacant shop at No. 1 Crystal Street, suddenly, long-buried memories began to flood back.

It was then she realized how foolish her plan had been. If Isabella had the power to get various departments to shut down her shop, it meant she had some significant standing within the government or was backed by a high-ranking official. Such a person, even if she had committed murder, would likely avoid jail time.

Anna berated herself harshly in her mind and then devised a new strategy. If the legal route was blocked, she would have to resort to the underworld.

Anna skillfully dialed a number from her contacts. "I need someone kidnapped. Money is not an issue."

"Details." A raspy voice responded on the other end.

"Isabella Taylor, a jewelry designer. I want her to suffer a fate worse than death," Anna's voice dripped with venom.

The voice on the other end sounded curious, "What exactly do you want done?"

"I want you to sell her on the black market, to wealthy perverts, as a sex slave. I want her to never return to society," Anna said with a smile, as if she could already see that day coming. "If you can do this, I'll pay you more money than you can imagine."

There was a moment of silence on the other end, as if considering her words. Then a couple of clicks, as if in admiration, "You are so vicious, truly impressive."

Night fell, and the city's lights flickered in the darkness. Emma was preparing to end her workday and step out of the store.

Exhausted from the day's work, Emma felt utterly drained. Just then, she received a call from Mia.

"Calling me at this hour, are you inviting me to dinner?" Emma joked.

"It's serious," Mia's voice lacked its usual cheerfulness. "The person you were looking for has gone missing."

"Missing? Even you can't find them?"

"The signal has been jammed, but according to some intel, she seemed to have had some interaction with Nightfall before disappearing. I'm currently investigating this lead."

"Nightfall?"

"A notorious gang. Also, Anna recently contacted Nightfall, but I couldn't find out what she wanted them to do. Be careful."

"What else could they do besides kidnap me?"

"Do you need me to send someone to protect you?"

"No need," Emma replied, walking towards the parking lot. She realized she was being followed and quickly sent Mia a text message, "Wait for my good news. I'll bring that person back."

Just after hitting send, the gang members following Emma sprang into action. They moved like ghosts, silently closing in before suddenly emerging from the shadows and swiftly surrounding Emma.

"Don't move!" one of the gang members hissed, quickly covering Emma's head with a cloth bag. Emma pretended to struggle in terror, but her resistance was insignificant against the strength of the gang members.

"Let me go! Who are you?" Emma's voice was muffled by the bag.

The gang members swiftly dragged her into a black van. The door slammed shut, instantly muffling her cries.

"Go!" another gang member ordered urgently. The driver quickly started the engine, and the van sped away into the night, disappearing into the city's chaos.

Inside the van, Emma's heartbeat remained steady. The people who had taken her were likely from Nightfall. If she followed this lead, perhaps she could find the person she was looking for.

The bag over her head was a significant hindrance, completely blocking her vision. She could only recall the direction the van had taken when they first kidnapped her and the route the vehicle had followed.

Using this information, she tried to deduce her current location.

"What do you want?" Emma tried to gather clues from the gang members' reactions.

"Shut up!" one of the gang members responded coldly.
