Chapter 49 Deterioration
Tom had Emma pinned down, using brute force to rip at her clothes.
"The more you fight, the more I want you," Tom sneered, his voice dripping with malice. He slapped her hard. "Why are you screaming? This ain't the first time we've hooked up. Stop acting all innocent. As long as you get paid, you'll sleep with anyone!"
Why was everyone trashing her?
Emma's voice shook, her blood dripping onto the floor, leaving dark stains. But she kept struggling. "You're lying! I've never done anything with you. Why are you framing me?"
"What are you talking about? Right now, you're the one framing your sister Anna!" Tom's sudden words left Emma stunned.
"Emma, I can't believe you're still so nasty after three years in prison. When you discharged from the prison, you contacted me to kidnap Anna's son for ransom, and now you're trying to say Anna framed you!" Tom sneered, his eyes full of mockery. "You're truly rotten. Today, I'm gonna see just how evil you really are!"
Tom's hands gripped Emma like iron clamps, tearing at her clothes, his eyes gleaming with sinister intent.
She fought with everything she had, a wave of fear and anger surging within her. But no matter how hard she tried, Tom's strength was too much.
"Don't even think about running away!" Tom laughed coldly, his eyes filled with arrogance and madness. "Today, you're destined to be my plaything!"
Just as Emma felt a wave of despair, the door was suddenly kicked open with a loud bang.
George, burning with rage, stormed in. His appearance was like a beam of light, cutting through the darkness in Emma's heart.
"How dare you kidnap my son!" George's voice thundered through the room. He rushed forward, shoving Tom aside, his fist landing hard on Tom's face.
Tom hit the ground in pain, a bright red mark instantly appearing on his face. He tried to fight back, but George's attacks were relentless, like a storm. Tom was soon beaten, covered in bruises, and utterly defeated.
"You bastard!" George roared, his eyes filled with anger and disdain, ready to settle all of Tom's crimes.
A glimmer of hope rose in Emma's heart, but when she saw George's gaze, her heart sank again. George didn't stop but quickly headed towards the inner part of the abandoned warehouse.
"Lucas!" Emma's heart tightened, and she hurriedly called out, but George had already disappeared into the darkness. Her heart was filled with anxiety and fear, unable to imagine Lucas's current situation.
Not long after, George emerged, carrying a sleeping Lucas, his face clouded with a grim expression. He placed Lucas aside, his cold gaze sweeping over Emma as if she were a worthless being.
"You're such a contemptible woman!" George's voice was filled with disgust and disdain, condemning her very existence. His eyes held no trace of pity, only endless disappointment and anger.
"No, it's not true!" Emma's voice trembled, filled with grievance and despair. She desperately tried to explain, "George, this has nothing to do with me!"
"How dare you argue!" George cut her off coldly, his eyes flashing with distrust. "Emma, do you think I'm blind or deaf? You're absolutely despicable!"
"George, this is Anna and Tom's trap. They've known each other for a long time! They even dated before, and Anna had two abortions for Tom! George, I'm telling the truth! I've never done something so disgusting in my life! They're framing me together!" Emma's voice was pleading, filled with helplessness and despair. She tried to lay out Anna and Tom's past, hoping George would understand the truth.
All she wanted was a little bit of trust.
But George's gaze was as cold as ice, totally unmoved.
"How unlucky Anna is to have a sister like you. People like you should've been gone a long time ago." His words cut deep, piercing Emma's soul.
"George, am I really that untrustworthy to you? If that's the case, why'd you make those promises to me back then?" she shouted, her emotions crumbling.
George furrowed his brow, turning to look at Emma's pale face. He let out a derisive laugh.
"If you've got a mental problem, you should check yourself into a mental hospital. What promises are you talking about? I've only ever promised to love one girl forever, and her name is Anna."
No physical wound could hurt as much as George's words.
So he had only ever promised Anna.
So the beautiful memories were just a joke to George.
So only Emma had taken those memories seriously.
Promises of being together forever were just words to placate her.
Emma was thrown back into prison, the cold iron bars and dark cell filling her with endless despair.
Her body ached from the previous falls and Tom's attacks, but after being brutally beaten in prison, that pain seemed to become numb. Her body and mind were gradually breaking down under the endless torment, her condition worsening day by day.
In prison, she often fantasized about the days of freedom, about seeing Lucas's smiling face again.
However, reality was like a merciless iron fist, constantly pushing her into the abyss. Her body grew weaker, her face paler, as if a gust of wind could blow her over.
Finally, after a long wait, Ethan managed to bail her out with great effort.
"We need to go to Billy's for a check-up," Ethan said, looking at her with concern. He knew Emma's condition was severe and needed immediate treatment.
"Emma, your health is in very poor condition," Billy's voice was low and serious. When he saw Emma earlier, he could hardly believe his eyes.
How could she have so many new injuries in just a few days?
What had she gone through?!
How could anyone be so cruel to a fragile patient?!
The tumor, which had been controlled by medication, was starting to worsen.
She needed to contact doctors for a consultation and surgery as soon as possible!
When George went to the police station to find Emma, he was told she had been bailed out. Enraged, he found where Emma was staying and dragged her up just as she returned from the hospital and lay down to rest.
"After doing so many heinous things, you can still sleep so peacefully?"
Emma felt like she was about to have a mental breakdown. Her heart was bleeding, but her face was smiling. She said with a bitter smile, "So, Mr. Russell, what do you want? To have someone beat me up again, or just kill me outright?"
At this point, death didn't seem so scary anymore.
"Letting you die would be too easy, Emma. I want you to live a life worse than death." George's eyes were filled with murderous intent.
George really wanted to kill her.
No, to be precise, he wanted to torture her, to make her life worse than death!
George dragged Emma out like she was a corpse. Emma couldn't struggle anymore; having just taken a powerful painkiller, she couldn't even lift her arms.
It didn't take much effort for George to shove Emma into the car and instruct the driver to start driving.
She didn't have a clue where he was taking her.
Perhaps, it was hell.
"George, I haven't harmed anyone. It's Anna who's been hurting me. Why won't you investigate? You're such a smart person, why are you being played by Anna?" Emma's barely steady emotions were once again on the verge of collapse.
Maybe it was Emma's tears that moved George a little; he seemed to hesitate.
