Chapter 117 Apology

When Miss Lady Store got trashed, the internet went wild with theories about why it happened. As people kept talking, someone noticed that Isabella looked just like George's late ex-wife, Emma, which only fueled the fire.

On social media, folks started blaming Anna, thinking she was behind the whole thing out of jealousy. Olivia and Jerry were pegged as the ones who actually did the deed.

Suddenly, Anna was getting roasted online, with people throwing all kinds of insults at her, Olivia, and Jerry.

Comments flooded in under posts about the incident, calling Olivia and Jerry bullies and "shameless scoundrels," demanding they own up to what they did.

Some internet sleuths started digging into Olivia's and Jerry's lives, posting their personal info and photos to ramp up the pressure.

Local folks even went to Olivia and Jerry's place to harass them, filming their daily routines and live-streaming it.

Sharp-eyed netizens compared photos of Anna, Olivia, and Jerry, noticing they looked a bit alike, and started questioning who Anna really was.

Anna was the long-lost daughter the Stuart family had found. But her return was shrouded in misfortune—shortly after she rejoined the family, Molly, the Stuart family's original daughter, met an untimely end. The timing felt suspicious.

People dug up old case files and found out that Emma, George's ex-wife, who was the suspect back then, had no reason to kill.

Plus, there were fingerprints from a third person at the crime scene. This person was probably the killer, but no one knew who the prints belonged to.

One netizen speculated: [Could those fingerprints be Anna's? Doesn't she have more of a motive than Emma?]

This theory didn't get much traction but Anna saw it.

She started paying the media to clean up her image. Slowly, rumors about Isabella messing with George and Anna's marriage started popping up online. Clueless netizens began to bash Isabella.

Emma, scrolling through the news with a smirk, thought, "Anna, you slandered me, so don't blame me for hitting back." She called the police station. "Hey, sir, I've got some time. Can you arrange for Olivia and Jerry to make a public apology?"

The apology was set to happen in front of 2 Crystal Street Store. This apology was Emma's little gift to herself for her grand reopening. Since Anna had sent Olivia and Jerry to mess up her opening ceremony, Emma planned to humiliate them right in front of Anna.

A swarm of reporters showed up, their cameras flashing as they surrounded Olivia and Jerry. It was the first time they faced such public shame.

Emma made a dramatic entrance, arriving fashionably late. Olivia and Jerry, who had never seen Emma up close before, were taken aback by her striking resemblance to the late Emma, even though they had prepared themselves.

Olivia's palms were sweaty, cold sweat dotted her forehead, and her heart pounded. She felt a sudden chill in the air.

Emma smiled at her, walking slowly towards Olivia with a look of helplessness and deep meaning.

"Why did you do this to me?" she asked softly.

Olivia's heart sank, almost leaping out of her chest. She wanted to escape this nightmare.

"Mrs. Jones, are you thinking about how to hurt me next?" Emma's voice was cold and emotionless. Olivia's throat tightened, and she couldn't speak, just staring at Emma with wide, terrified eyes.

Memories of tormenting Emma flashed through her mind. She imagined Emma using those same methods on her. She covered her mouth, trying to suppress her fear.

"I didn't mean to," Olivia stammered, her voice barely a whisper.

Instinctively, her body started to retreat, but reporters crowded around, cutting off her escape. She leaned back against the cold, unyielding camera equipment, a wave of despair washing over her.

She imagined Emma's hand strangling her, dragging her to hell.

"No!" Olivia screamed in despair, then collapsed backward.

The reporters were stunned.

Isabella had only uttered a single sentence, yet Olivia's reaction was so extreme, so visceral, that it lent a whisper of credibility to the swirling online rumors.

It seemed like the rumors about Olivia and Anna conspiring to kill Emma were true. Seeing Isabella, who looked just like Emma, Olivia was terrified.

Emma had achieved her goal of intimidating Olivia and Jerry. She didn't care if they apologized or not.

No matter what they said, Emma would never forgive them.

The much-anticipated event ended abruptly. Rumor had it that Olivia and Jerry fell seriously ill after returning home, but Emma didn't care. She had another matter on her mind—how to celebrate Anna's birthday.
