Chapter 217 Trying on Wedding Dresses
The bridal shop was filled with an array of stunning wedding dresses, each with its own unique charm. But the one that drew the most attention was the new design displayed prominently in the center of the showroom.
The upper part of the dress was made of exquisite lace, embroidered with delicate floral patterns. The edges of the petals shimmered with golden threads, adding a touch of luxury.
The lace design elegantly showcased the bride's shoulders and collarbone, making it both graceful and alluring. The V-neckline was both sexy and dignified, perfectly highlighting the feminine beauty.
From the bust down, the dress flared out into layers of tulle and silk, as light and airy as clouds.
"I want this one!" Anna declared to the sales associate trailing behind her.
The associate's face showed a hint of embarrassment, and she explained, "I'm sorry, Ms. Stuart, but this dress can't be tried on. It was reserved a month ago, and the customer will be picking it up soon."
Anna's expression changed instantly. "I don't care who reserved it! I want to buy this dress right now!"
"But..." The associate hesitated, looking troubled.
If she agreed to Anna's request, she would risk offending the original customer because the dress was already reserved.
This was the most upscale bridal shop in all of Lakeside Haven, where even a simple veil could sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The clientele here were all wealthy and influential, not people a mere sales associate could afford to offend.
"Don't you have other styles in the store? Let her buy something else! I want this one! You can't let her take my dress!" Anna's voice was domineering and unreasonable, completely disregarding the other customers.
Noticing Anna's determination, Sophia chimed in, "We can pay more, double the price. Is that okay?"
The associate replied awkwardly, "Mrs. Stuart, it's not about the money."
Anyone who could shop here wasn't short on cash; they were after prestige.
Something reserved in advance being bought out by someone else offering more money was an insult. Anna was ruthless, not only taking someone else's dress but also humiliating them.
The associate remained silent, and Anna grew more agitated, not realizing she was trying to take something that wasn't hers. Her righteous demeanor almost convinced the associate that the dress was originally hers.
Anna exclaimed, "I don't care; I want this wedding dress! Right now!"
The associate looked increasingly troubled, torn inside. "Ms. Stuart, I understand how you feel, but this dress has already been reserved. I can't just give it away."
"Is this how you do business? Shouldn't you prioritize my needs?" Anna's voice grew louder, mercilessly criticizing the associate.
"I'm just following store policy." The associate's voice was filled with helplessness, not daring to offend either side.
"Either give me this dress, or I'll file a complaint!" Anna's attitude became even more forceful, completely ignoring the associate's predicament.
"Ms. Stuart, I get where you're coming from. But why don't you check out some other styles first?" The associate's tone was gentle, trying to calm Anna down. "I'll contact the customer who reserved it and see if we can work something out."
Though still dissatisfied, Anna calmed down a bit upon hearing the associate's concession. Her eyes remained fixed on the dress, filled with reluctance, but she nodded in agreement.
"Fine, go ahead." Anna's voice carried a hint of impatience.
Anna thought, 'Just give me the dress already; what's there to negotiate? In Lakeside Haven, is there anyone more powerful than me? Could anyone overrule me?'
The associate breathed a slight sigh of relief and walked over to the phone, contemplating how to handle this tricky situation. After rehearsing in her mind, she dialed the reserved customer's number.
"Hello, Mr. Thomas, a customer wants to buy the dress you reserved. Could you please come over to avoid any misunderstandings?"
Joshua sounded surprised on the other end, then asked, "What's going on? She wants to buy my reserved dress? Doesn't she understand first come, first served?"
"She's very insistent." The associate said only that, and he understood.
He had bad luck, running into an unreasonable person. Such things weren't uncommon in high society, but someone being so blatant about it was rare.
"I'll be right there."
After hanging up, the associate took a deep breath and returned to Anna.
"Ms. Stuart, the customer doesn't agree to switch. Please look at other dresses, and I'll help you find a suitable one as soon as possible." The associate smiled, trying to keep her tone light.
"I don't want to look at others; I want that one!" Anna was unwilling to compromise.
The associate looked increasingly troubled, silently praying for Mr. Thomas to arrive quickly and resolve the standoff.
She knew that only his appearance could possibly end this dispute.
Not long after, the door to the shop opened, and Joshua walked in.
"It's you?" Anna exclaimed.
The man was tall and distinguished, seemingly radiating an aura. Anna recognized him immediately; this Mr. Thomas was Joshua. Anna smirked triumphantly.
"So it's Joshua. Perfect. You reserved this dress for George, right? Now that I'm here, you don't need to pick it up. I can take it directly."
Seeing Joshua, Anna felt relieved. She and George were about to get married, and George must have ordered the dress to surprise her.
Thinking of this, Anna felt warm inside, knowing George still cared for her.
Anna's self-assured demeanor made Joshua chuckle.
With a polite smile, he said, "Ms. Stuart, I'm afraid you're mistaken. This dress wasn't reserved for you."
"Not for me? Then who else?" Anna's fingers lightly brushed the shimmering skirt. "This dress costs over a million dollars. With your salary, you would take forever to save up for it. You must really love your fiancée to spend so much on a dress."
