Chapter 75 The Pendant

Emma had just bounced out of the hospital room, still buzzing from her quick chat with Sophia. Out of nowhere, she smacked right into Olivia.

Olivia's face twisted with rage. Without a second thought, she slapped Emma so hard it made her head spin.

"You again, you bitch!" Olivia's voice was dripping with fury, like she was ready to unload all her anger. "What the hell are you trying to do to Anna? Just 'cause she's nice doesn't mean you get to hurt her!"

Emma stumbled back from the slap, losing her footing and crashing to the ground. The fresh bandage on her face started throbbing again, probably busted open.

Her wrist hit the floor, sending a jolt of pain through her. The butterfly pendant around her neck popped off, clattering to the ground with a sharp sound.

The pendant finally stopped at Henry's feet, who had just walked into the hospital. Henry looked down, surprise flickering in his eyes. He bent down and picked up the pendant.

"What is..." Henry's brow furrowed, a sense of unease creeping in. He examined the pendant closely, a small butterfly with a name engraved on it—Emily.

This was a charm he and Sophia had made for their daughter when she was born, which had disappeared with her.

When he and Sophia met Anna, Olivia and Jerry had said the pendant was lost.

So much time had passed, it made sense for the pendant to be gone. And the DNA test proved Anna was their daughter. But now, why was this pendant on Emma?

"Henry, let me see." Sophia, clutching her post-surgery wound, struggled to sit up. She held the pendant, which had been missing for twenty years, like it was a treasure. This was Emily's pendant; she had finally found it!

If the pendant could be found, did it mean her father could also come back to her sooner or later?

"Where'd you get this pendant?" Henry held onto the pendant, staring hard at Emma. Emma's eyes were sincere, clear, and kinda familiar. Why hadn't he noticed before?

Henry and Sophia's eyes were locked on Emma, who vaguely thought of a possibility but didn't dare think too deeply. Could it be...

Anna freaked out the moment she saw the pendant.

When she learned about the pendant from Henry and Sophia, she had gone to the mental hospital to find Douglas. With Douglas's mental state, she couldn't figure out anything.

Plus, he kept calling out "Emily," which was a dead giveaway.

So Anna had someone take care of Douglas. An old guy like that, suddenly dying with shocking news, wouldn't raise any eyebrows.

With the only witness gone, Anna finally became the Jones Family's daughter with peace of mind. Since getting this identity, even Scarlett, who was initially not cool with her, started seeing her differently, hoping she'd marry the Russell Family.

This identity brought her too many perks, and she wasn't about to let it go!

"This is my..." Emma had just started to speak when Olivia suddenly rushed over, her eyes blazing with anger and accusation.

"You thief! So you stole it! Our family took you in out of pity, and this is how you repay us? You not only took George, messed up Lucas's face, but also stole her pendant! I regret ever adopting you!"

"What are you talking about?" Emma was stunned, looking up at Olivia in disbelief. How could the pendant Douglas left her be Anna's?

"Emma, this is mine, can you give it back to me?" Anna's voice was all whiny and pitiful.

In that moment, Emma finally got it. Douglas's sudden illness and death—it had to be Anna's doing!

Olivia pointed at Emma like she wanted to tear her apart.

"You're shameless!" Olivia's voice cut through Emma like a knife.

Emma felt a wave of helplessness. She hadn't done any of this, yet here she was, being accused left and right. Her heart was filled with frustration and despair.

"I didn't steal it; this is mine!" Her voice was weak but had a hint of determination. "My grandpa..."

"Shut up!" Olivia's rage was like a storm, crashing down on Emma. She shoved Emma to the ground and started hitting her. Emma felt a sharp pain, her body slamming into the cold floor.

"You bitch, get out of the hospital! Don't you dare bother Anna again!" Olivia's voice was full of anger and hatred. She kicked Emma, determined to drive her away for good.

Emma was too weak to fight back. She tried to get up but felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. The tumor flared up again, tearing at her insides. Her breathing got rapid, and her vision started to blur.

"If you get close to Anna again, I'll have you thrown in jail!" Olivia's threat echoed in Emma's ears, making her feel suffocated.

Just then, the security guards showed up and stepped in. They pulled Olivia away and quickly lifted Emma, getting ready to take her out of there.

"Let go of me. I did nothing wrong!" Emma's weak voice had a hint of determination. She wanted to defend herself but couldn't find the words.

The guards carried her out, and Emma's gaze unintentionally swept towards the hospital room.

She saw Sophia, Henry, and Anna standing together, all cozy and affectionate. That scene tore at her heart like a knife, reminding her of the gap between her and them.

Sophia had a warm smile, Henry gently holding her shoulder, and Anna was laughing happily beside them. Emma's heart filled with bitterness, tears welling up in her eyes with nowhere to go.

"Mom, can you put it on me?" Anna's voice was clear and joyful, pointing at the pendant in Henry's hand, her eyes full of anticipation.

Emma's heart ached. She watched as Sophia personally put the pendant around Anna's neck, the gentle action like a sharp blade, deeply piercing her heart.

'They're so happy...' she silently said to herself, tears finally streaming down her cheeks.

The guards carried her out of the hospital, Emma's body hanging limply, her heart filled with despair and helplessness. But one thought still kept her going—she had to come back to the hospital!
