Chapter 368 Dual Personality

The security guard stepped forward, trying to escort George out of the hospital room. But George stood firm at the door, showing no intention of leaving.

"I'm not going anywhere," he said, his voice low and resolute, with a hint of madness in his eyes. "Emma needs me. I'm not leaving her."

"Staying here will only make things worse for her!" Billy snapped. "George, you're hurting her!"

As the standoff continued, hurried footsteps echoed from the hallway.

"George! What are you doing here again?" Mia's voice was filled with anger. She and Ethan rushed over, and upon seeing the chaotic scene outside the room, they were furious.

She stormed up to George, cursing vehemently. "What do you want? Look at what you've done to Emma! Can't you just leave her alone?"

George ignored Mia's accusations and looked at Ethan instead. "I'm not leaving. Emma is my wife. I have the right to be here."

"Right?" Ethan sneered, his eyes full of disdain. "You'd better back off and stop bothering her! Or I'll call Michael right now!"

Mia chimed in, "That's right! George, if you don't leave, we'll call the police!"

"Call the police?" George's eyes turned icy, and his voice grew cold. "Go ahead and try."

His attitude only fueled Mia's anger. She was about to continue arguing when a weak moan came from inside the room.

"Emma!" Everyone's attention immediately shifted.

Emma slowly opened her eyes, her gaze wandering around the room in confusion. Her eyes finally settled on George. She stared at him for a moment, then a familiar smile appeared on her face.

"George!" Her voice was soft, with a hint of longing, just like the Emma from six years ago who depended on George so much.

George was stunned, his heart feeling like it had been hit hard. He looked at her in disbelief, his voice trembling. "Emma, what did you just call me?"

"George." Emma called again, her eyes full of deep affection and reliance. She reached out and gently tugged on George's sleeve, her voice carrying a trace of grievance. "Please believe me, I was framed by Anna."

George's eyes widened, and then his heart was filled with immense joy. He instinctively held her hand, his voice gentle as if afraid to disturb her. "I believe you. I believe everything you say. Emma, I'll never misunderstand you again. Let's be together from now on, okay?"

"Really?" Emma's eyes sparkled with joy, asking innocently like a child. "You won't lie to me, right?"

"I won't." George answered solemnly, his eyes full of tenderness.

Mia and Ethan were dumbfounded, exchanging shocked and puzzled looks.

"Emma, are you okay?" Mia asked tentatively.

Emma turned to look at Mia and Ethan, her face showing a bit of confusion. "Mia, Ethan, why are you here?"

They froze, worried that Emma's memory was in disarray and afraid to say the wrong thing.

They both turned to Billy. "What's going on?"

Billy's expression turned serious. He walked to the bedside and carefully examined Emma's condition, his frown deepening. After a moment, he stood up and said gravely, "Her condition is very unusual. Her brain has suffered severe trauma, causing her memory and emotions to become confused."

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked, unable to hide his concern.

Billy sighed and explained slowly, "In simple terms, Emma is experiencing a split personality. The Emma we see now is the one who loved George the most six years ago. In this state, the worst thing we can do is to upset her."

Mia's eyes widened. "So what do we do? Just let her stay like this?"

Billy nodded. "For now, we have to go along with her feelings. Trying to correct her memory could worsen her condition, possibly leading to irreversible consequences."

Mia gritted her teeth, glaring at George. "This is all your fault! If it weren't for you, she wouldn't be like this!"

George ignored Mia's accusations, his attention entirely on Emma. He held her hand, his gaze tender. "Emma, don't be afraid. I'll stay with you forever and never leave you."

Emma smiled with relief, snuggling up to George. "George, as long as you're here, I'm not afraid."

Mia stomped her foot in anger. "George, don't be smug! This is only temporary. When Emma gets better, she'll hate you!"

George didn't respond, his eyes never leaving Emma's face, filled with deep affection and guilt. He knew he had made many mistakes, but this time, he wouldn't let her get hurt again.

Due to Emma's strong insistence, Mia and Ethan had no choice but to leave, allowing George to stay with her.

Mia mulled it over repeatedly but ultimately decided not to call Michael.

Billy had mentioned that the current Emma couldn't handle any more stress.

That night, the room was quiet, with only George and Emma. Emma leaned against the bed, quietly watching George, her eyes full of dependence and love.

"George," she called softly, her voice cautious. "Why are you being so good to me now? You didn't like me before. Do you not like Anna anymore?"

George held her hand. "Emma, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I did many things that hurt you, but I swear, I won't do it again."

"Really?" Emma's eyes lit up with joy.

"Really." George nodded solemnly. He took a deep breath, as if making a significant decision, and said slowly, "Emma, I was good to Anna because I mistook her for someone else. She told me she was the girl I met at Dreamscape Peak when I was a child. I thought she was you and got it wrong."

Emma was stunned, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. "You mean, you were good to her because you mistook her for me?"

"Yes." George's voice was filled with regret. "I mistook the keepsake for hers, so I kept ignoring you and even hurt you. Emma, I'm so sorry. I really regret it."

Tears welled up in Emma's eyes, streaming down her face. She choked out, "George, I thought you didn't love me anymore. I thought you only cared about her."
