Chapter 469 Pirates

Lucas's two perilous encounters put the Stuart family's bodyguards on high alert.

Michael couldn't find another opportunity. But he wasn't worried. He knew how much Emma loved her child. With a little persuasion, Emma would insist on taking Lucas back to Sunterra. Once there, Lucas's fate would be in his hands.

The Stuart family's bodyguards were now constantly by Lucas's side. Lucas, oblivious to the danger, focused on his tracking device. The crew suspected nothing unusual about the accidents.

The voyage hadn't been long, but Lucas had unknowingly brushed with death multiple times, each escape a miracle.

In the predawn gloom, the fleet approached a mysterious island shrouded in morning mist. The tracker showed Emma's signal on the island.

Michael's eyes darkened. "George, Emma is mine! Not even you can take her from me!"

George and Emma returned to the island, both exhausted. The strain of the journey and emotional fatigue left them looking worn out. Emma whispered, "I need a bath and some rest."

His eyes were filled with sorrow, as if trying to memorize every detail. He knew Emma was leaving, and this might be their last moments together. He nodded, his voice trembling, "Okay, I'll wait outside."

Emma entered the bathroom, and the sound of running water soon followed. George stood by the window, his gaze deep and sorrowful. He knew Emma's departure was inevitable, but the pain was unbearable. This man, who was once so strong, now felt deeply vulnerable, his heart quietly aching.

Meanwhile, a nondescript reconnaissance boat approached the isolated island. Leading the group was a middle-aged man codenamed Black Shark, a former special forces soldier turned mercenary and pirate. His face bore the scars of time, and his eyes were cold. He commanded fifteen elite members, all professionally trained and equipped with the latest weapons, exuding a chilling aura.

"Boss, this looks like a rich man's place," a skinny pirate said, pointing to a distant villa, his eyes gleaming with greed.

Black Shark squinted, using a tactical binocular to observe. The villa had advanced security systems, but to these seasoned pirates, they were mere child's play.

"Split up!" Black Shark ordered quietly. "Nathan, disable the security system. Eugene, take two men and stand guard. The rest, get ready to loot!"

As the pirates cautiously landed on the beach, a series of piercing alarms shattered the island's tranquility. Highly sensitive infrared detectors had been triggered, and the alarm's piercing sound filled the air.

This was the island's defense system, set up when George bought it. The island had multiple warning mechanisms, including infrared detectors on the beach, sonar devices around the island, satellite monitoring, and hidden cameras.

Just before the pirates landed, George's private communication system had already alerted him. His computer and monitoring system quickly detected the anomaly: an unidentified boat approaching, with radar showing sixteen heat sources rapidly nearing the island.

All this happened in a matter of seconds. From detection to alarm, it took less than three seconds.

George was prepared to die if necessary. No matter the cost, he would protect Emma. Even if they were to part, even if they couldn't be together, he wouldn't let Emma be harmed. His eyes were resolute and fearless.

The sudden alarm tore through the bathroom's peacefulness. Emma shivered, instinctively sensing danger. Water droplets clung to her skin as she hurriedly turned off the faucet. The mirror reflected her panicked face, hair wet and clinging to her cheeks. She quickly dried herself with a towel, her clothes haphazardly thrown on, her usual composure shattered by tension.

"George!" she called, pushing open the bathroom door. "What's happening?"

George stood before a wall of surveillance screens, his expression solemn like a warrior ready for battle. The screens showed various parts of the island, with infrared detectors marking prominent red heat sources.

"Sixteen pirates have come ashore," he said coldly and firmly. "Their target is likely this villa and us."

He turned to face Emma, his eyes softening yet remaining steadfast, as if trying to shield her with his gaze.

"I'll protect you. I won't let them harm you."

Emma stood there, her hair wet, clothes askew, looking a bit disheveled.

"What can I do?"

"Protect yourself."

Emma felt George's determination. She had never seen real pirates and didn't know what danger lay ahead, but she trusted George unconditionally. In this strange and perilous moment, George was her only support.

"Damn it!" Black Shark cursed under his breath, cold sweat forming on his forehead. "The security system here is more complex than we thought!"

The pirates instinctively dropped to the sand, quickly taking cover. Eugene swiftly signaled for absolute silence.

Inside the villa, George led Emma to the study. This seemingly ordinary room was actually the entrance to a cleverly disguised armory. He pressed an inconspicuous antique vase on the bookshelf, and the entire shelf slid open, revealing a metal door. Emma's eyes widened in shock.

The door opened slowly, revealing a spacious underground armory. The walls were lined with various firearms: from the latest sniper rifles to close-combat submachine guns, from mini pistols to heavy machine guns, the variety was staggering. Rows of bullets and magazines were neatly arranged, alongside high-tech military equipment: night vision goggles, tracking devices, communication systems, and explosive devices.
