Chapter 394 Suspected Infidelity
Phoenix sneered inwardly but put on an innocent face. "I was just worried about George, so I came here to check on him. I didn't expect to see this." She paused deliberately, her eyes showing a hint of grievance. "Jack, do you suspect me too?" Her voice was soft, as if she was trying to elicit his sympathy.
Jack was silent for a moment before sighing. "I thought you betrayed me, but now it seems I misunderstood you." His tone carried a hint of apology, and his gaze softened. "I'm sorry; I shouldn't have doubted you."
Despite the smirk she concealed within, Phoenix's face radiated a warm and tender smile. "It's okay. We might have had some misunderstandings. The most important thing now is to find out who that man is." As she spoke, she moved closer to Jack, pretending to be intimate as she linked her arm with his.
Her actions seemed natural and affectionate, as if their relationship had never been strained.
Noticing her softened attitude, Jack felt a surge of joy and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, whispering, "Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of this. I won't let anyone betray George."
Phoenix suppressed her disgust and pretended to be touched, nodding. "Thank you, Jack."
But inside, she was smirking. 'You'll be my pawn for now. Once I defeat Emma, I'll deal with you.' Her eyes showed a trace of coldness, but her face remained gentle.
Just then, laughter echoed from inside the villa, seemingly Emma and the man chatting.
Phoenix's anger grew, but she maintained a calm exterior. She whispered to Jack, "We can't wait any longer. We need to expose Emma's true colors."
"Alright, I'll help you. Just tell me what to do."
Jack, perhaps feeling guilty for doubting Scarlett, was now completely compliant.
Phoenix continued in a gentle tone, "With your help, I feel reassured." Her voice carried a hint of dependence, as if she saw Jack as her only support.
"Emma, your good days are over!"
Meanwhile, the villa's lights remained bright, and Emma's conversation with the man continued, seemingly unaware of the commotion outside.
Jack and Phoenix quickly divided their tasks.
Jack decided to sneak into the villa to take photos as evidence, while Phoenix would call the police to assist in securing proof of Emma's infidelity. Jack carefully made his way to the back door of the villa, climbing over the wall under the cover of darkness, and stealthily approached the villa.
He took out his phone, opened the camera, and prepared to capture photos of their affair.
However, as he neared the window, the villa's advanced security system activated, with powerful laser alarms and surveillance cameras lighting up simultaneously.
"Damn it!" Jack's heart raced. He tried to retreat, but the surrounding lights suddenly changed, and transparent shields silently unfolded from two corners, trapping him in the middle.
Instantly, he was locked in by the smart system, unable to escape. A voice from inside the house announced, "Intruder identified, contacting security unit immediately!"
Seconds later, the security system trapped him, immobilizing his movements. He could only watch helplessly as he was surrounded by two transparent shields, filled with regret.
He muttered curses under her breath, "Damn it! Why does a house need such advanced security?"
Meanwhile, Phoenix paced anxiously outside the villa.
She had no idea if Jack's mission was successful and was growing impatient waiting for the police. She kept checking her watch, cursing under her breath, "Where are the cops? If they take any longer, Emma's gonna get away!"
Just as she was growing desperate, the villa's door suddenly opened, and Emma and the stranger drove out, laughing and chatting.
So, did Jack manage to get evidence of Emma's affair or not?
But Phoenix had no time to think about Jack now. Her eyes widened with fury. "They're leaving! I can't let them escape!" She quickly flagged down a taxi, pointing at Emma's car. "Follow that car!"
The taxi driver nodded and stepped on the gas, tailing Emma's car closely.
Phoenix sat in the back seat, her eyes fixed on the vehicle ahead.
"Emma, you think you can get away? I'll catch you and ruin your reputation!"
The car sped through bustling streets, heading towards the outskirts. Phoenix grew more puzzled. "Where are they going?" She gripped her phone tightly, ready to take photos as evidence, while also planning her next move.
As she focused on the chase, Emma's car suddenly turned onto a secluded road. The taxi driver hesitated and asked, "Miss, should we keep following? It looks dangerous ahead."
Phoenix didn't hesitate. "Follow! We must see this through!"
She couldn't afford to back down now.
The taxi driver reluctantly nodded and continued following. However, shortly after entering the road, Emma's car stopped. Phoenix's heart raced, and she whispered to the driver, "Stop the car, don't let them see us!"
The taxi slowed to a halt, and Phoenix hid inside, carefully observing the scene ahead. Emma and the man got out of the car and entered a small building by the roadside. Phoenix's eyes flashed with malice as she thought, 'Finally, I've got you!'
She quickly opened the car door, ready to chase after Emma. But as she stepped out, the taxi driver called out, "Miss, you haven't paid me yet!" His voice was annoyed, clearly not wanting to let her go.
Phoenix was anxious. "I don't have time right now!"
The driver frowned, his tone unfriendly. "No way, you have to pay first! I'm not a free taxi!" The tension between them escalated, almost leading to an argument.
Phoenix panicked, worried about being discovered by Emma. She quickly took off a ring from her finger and tossed it to the driver. "This is worth a lot, and it should cover the fare!"
The driver was stunned, his eyes gleaming with greed. Though he was unhappy, he didn't dare say more. He quickly took the ring, muttering, "Alright, hurry up then!"
Phoenix didn't linger, turning and sprinting towards the small building, eager to expose Emma's true nature.
The building looked old and shabby, with peeling walls and windows covered in layers of yellowed newspapers, seemingly untouched for a long time. The sign above the door was crooked, reading Pharmacy in faded letters, giving an impression of being untrustworthy and unprofessional. The interior was dimly lit, with weak light filtering through the windows, and a musty smell pervading the air, creating an unsettling atmosphere.
This pharmacy was definitely not a legitimate place for drug transactions.
