Chapter 212 Scald

"If you don't want to get out of my sight, you can just disappear from this world," George's voice was icy as he shut down their plea without a hint of mercy.

"Understand? Get lost!" Lyle barked, yanking Olivia and Jerry out of the hospital room and slamming the door behind them.

"George! Mr. Russell! Let me explain." Olivia shouted from outside, but the only response was the deafening silence from within.

They exchanged glances, their hearts brimming with resentment and anger.

Their gratitude for George's past help seemed worthless now, but their indignation still burned brightly.

"We're not giving up that easily! You have to marry Anna!" Olivia hissed through gritted teeth, her eyes gleaming with a sinister light.

The door remained firmly shut, leaving Olivia and Jerry with nothing to do but shout a few more times in frustration.

Other patients in the hallway turned to look, whispering among themselves.

"Who are these people, making such a racket in a hospital? So rude," a middle-aged woman muttered, clearly annoyed.

Olivia and Jerry's faces showed a hint of nervousness. Ever since the incident with Anna, their lives had become incredibly difficult, with relentless online harassment. For a while, they didn't even dare to leave their home.

Although Anna's scandal had blown over, they still feared being recognized.

"We should leave quickly," Olivia whispered, worry evident in her eyes.

Just then, a patient emerged from a nearby room, staring at them with piercing eyes.

"You're Anna's parents, right?" he asked coldly, his tone filled with hostility.

Olivia and Jerry exchanged a tense glance. They were about to deny it, but it was pointless. Their faces were already well-known.

"Anna killed my son!" the patient roared, his voice echoing through the hospital hallway and drawing more attention.

"It's none of my business," Jerry tried to explain, but before he could finish, the patient lunged forward, grabbing a pot of freshly boiled water and throwing it at them without hesitation.

"You should pay for what she did!" the patient shouted, the scalding water hitting them, causing them immediate, excruciating pain.

Olivia screamed in agony, her face turning a scalded red as she instinctively recoiled.

Jerry felt a wave of intense pain, his arm covered in blistering burns.

They were quickly surrounded by onlookers, and it took a considerable effort from the hospital staff to get them to the emergency room.

In the emergency room, doctors worked to treat their burns, washing their injuries with cold water.

After the emergency treatment, their injuries were stabilized, but the burns had caused permanent damage, especially on their faces, where nearly half of their skin was scarred.

"Your injuries are quite severe. You may need to stay in the hospital for observation," the doctor said seriously.

"We want to call the police!" Jerry demanded angrily.

Then the police arrived and reviewed the hospital's security footage.

However, the nurse on duty informed them, "The cameras are down. We can't access today's footage."

Jerry and Olivia were filled with disappointment and anger. Without the footage, finding the attacker seemed nearly impossible.

In reality, the camera malfunction was no accident.

The nurse, upon learning what had happened, had deliberately tampered with the cameras, intending to protect the patient.

With no surveillance footage, the police turned to eyewitnesses, questioning other patients and their families. Despite the many witnesses, no one was willing to testify.

Although Anna's bullying case hadn't led to a conviction, the public had their own sense of justice. They wanted to show Anna that in this world, evil would be punished.

Emma and George had heard about the commotion in the hallway, but they didn't care. In fact, they silently approved of the patient's actions.

They even felt a bit regretful that the burns hadn't been more severe.

Ignoring the troublesome pair, the room finally returned to peace, allowing George and Emma to enjoy some quiet time together.

It was midday, and sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room.

A gentle knock on the door was followed by a bodyguard entering with a tray of a beautifully prepared lunch.

Emma opened the container, revealing a variety of delicious dishes. She picked up a tender piece of chicken, smiling as she said, "Here, George, you have some food."

George leaned back against the headboard, his gaze soft as he watched her.

Emma brought the chicken to his lips. "Open up."

George hesitated for a moment, then obediently opened his mouth, savoring the flavorful chicken.

He added, "It tastes great."

"Then have some more." Emma fed him, and George ate each spoonful. They didn't speak, but their connection was evident.

Under his gaze, Emma's cheeks flushed. She gently touched his lips, wiping away a stray bit of sauce with a tenderness that showed her care.

George gently replied, "Thank you, Isabella."

As long as she was there, George could forget all his worries and pain.

"As long as you're happy, I'm happy." Emma's face lit up with a radiant smile as she continued to feed him, her eyes full of gentle care.

Just then, a nurse quietly entered with a tray of medication. Seeing their intimate interaction, she couldn't help but comment, "You two make such a lovely couple. Your relationship is wonderful!"

"Thank you," Emma replied with a shy smile, her cheeks blushing.

The nurse handed George his medication and gave some instructions before leaving, chuckling as she closed the door. Emma's face turned even redder.

Embarrassed, she picked up the medicine and water, ready to give them to George.

George frowned slightly, pretending to be reluctant. "I don't want to take the medicine. It's so bitter."

"Come on; it's to help you get better," Emma coaxed, her voice gentle as if she were soothing a child. "You need to take your medicine so you can get well and we can get married."

"But..." George pretended to hesitate, a playful glint in his eyes.

Emma leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "If you take your medicine, I'll give you a kiss."

George's eyes lit up with mischief. "Well, in that case..."

He took the medicine and swallowed it quickly, making a expression at the bitter taste. Emma laughed softly and leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.

"See? That wasn't so bad," she teased.

George smiled, his eyes twinkling. "With you around, nothing is."

They settled back into their quiet moment, the world outside forgotten as they enjoyed each other's company.
