Chapter 204 Like

The car rolled to a stop in front of Emma's house.

"We're here," George said, breaking the silence.

"Thanks, George."

"Don't mention it. I'd do anything for you."

Emma was taken aback. She'd never heard George speak so tenderly before.

As she reached for the door handle, George gently grabbed her wrist, his eyes serious. "Remember, no matter what happens, I'll always be here for you."

Emma's heart skipped a beat at the warmth of his touch. Her cheeks flushed. She nodded, but reminded herself not to trust George's words too easily.

Still, she replied softly, "I will."

"Not gonna invite me in?" George asked.

"Michael's home. You wanna come in?" Emma's fingers brushed George's forehead, more inviting than dismissive.

George wanted to rush in, but he remembered Seraphine was at home. He had just promised to be a responsible father and couldn't break that promise so soon.

Suppressing his inner turmoil, George took Emma's hand and kissed it gently.

Late at night, Michael sat on the couch, fiddling with a glass of water, feeling restless.

He had just seen George drop Emma off, and jealousy surged within him. Even though he knew the purpose of Emma and George's interactions, he couldn't help but feel uneasy.

He muttered to himself, "Emma and George are getting closer."

Michael knew that Emma's plan was to make George fall in love with her and then cruelly abandon him. She wanted revenge, to make George feel the pain of being heartlessly discarded.

But even though he knew all this, every time he saw Emma and George together, he couldn't help but feel stifled.

His eyes kept glancing towards the window, hoping to see Emma.

Just then, Emma walked in, noticing Michael's pensive expression. Her heart tightened. She approached him and asked with concern, "Michael, what's wrong? You seem upset."

"Nothing," Michael replied, trying to sound casual, but a bitter smile played on his lips. He didn't want Emma to worry, but he couldn't hide his jealousy.

"Are you sure?" Emma sensed something was off and sat beside him, looking at him with concern.

"I just feel like you and George are getting closer," Michael finally admitted, a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice.

"Michael, don't overthink it," Emma reassured him softly. "You know I'm only doing this for revenge. I have no feelings for him anymore."

George had done so many terrible things to Emma in the past. She would never love him again. Everything now was just a means to an end.

Michael kept telling himself this, but his mind couldn't help but recall the intimacy between Emma and George.

"Are you sure you won't fall for him again?" Michael's voice carried a hint of hope, his eyes shining with expectation.

"Of course not. I don't just dislike him, and I hate him. He killed my child and hurt my grandfather. He's my enemy. There's no way I could ever like him again. Michael, trust me," Emma said, hoping her words would reassure him.

"That's a relief," Michael said, a smile spreading across his face as his jealousy began to fade. He gently held Emma's hand, feeling a sense of happiness.

"Michael, you're Seraphine's father and my husband," Emma said tenderly, hoping to put Michael at ease.

"I know. I'll work hard to make you love me even more," Michael replied with determination, his eyes filled with warmth.

Meanwhile, George was determined to win Isabella back. The next evening, as he contemplated whether to reach out to Isabella, he received a call from Joshua.

"Mr. Russell, Olivia is on the move."

George instructed, "Keep an eye on her. Let me know if anything unusual happens."

"Get it, Mr. Russell."

As night fell, the city's lights began to glow, and the streets grew quiet.

Joshua checked the surveillance and saw Olivia's figure becoming clearer. She was dressed in black, carrying a large bag, and looking around nervously.

Joshua drove, with George in the passenger seat, following her.

After some time, Olivia finally stopped and entered a quiet cemetery.

A cemetery!

How dare she!

George's heart tightened as he quickly parked the car and headed towards the cemetery.

Through the gaps in the trees, he saw Olivia standing in front of a tombstone, seemingly talking to herself.

He had stared at this tombstone for three years. No one knew this place better than he did. This was Emma's grave. He had personally erected the tombstone and carved her name into it.

He knew the Joneses and Emma had always hated each other. What was Olivia doing at Emma's grave at this hour?

What was she planning to do to Emma?

Just as George was about to rush out, he saw Isabella appear at the cemetery entrance, slowly walking towards Olivia.

She had been ready to rest at home when she received Olivia's call.

To be honest, even when she was still Emma, Olivia had rarely called her. Now that she had become Isabella, why was Olivia calling her out of the blue?

The content of Olivia's call was simple, but it caught Emma's attention. Olivia said, "George doesn't love you. He loves Anna. You'll never win against Anna. Want to know why? If you do, come to Eternal Rest Memorial Park. I'll tell you everything."

Then she hung up.

A cryptic call that left Emma's mind in turmoil.

She didn't want to go. Her instincts told her that meeting someone who hated her in a cemetery at night was a bad idea. But the bait Olivia dangled was too tempting.

She had never understood why George was so tolerant of Anna.

Regardless of what Anna said or did, George always believed and supported her.

Even if she committed unforgivable acts, as long as it was Anna, George would find excuses to cover for her.

Emma had seen George do this countless times.
