Chapter 26 Showing You a Way out

George didn't beat around the bush, "Anna's pregnant, and I'm gonna marry her."

Emma just stared at him, waiting for the next load of crap he'd spew. For once, George didn't get pissed at her glare. His eyes slid over her like a slimy snake, making her skin crawl.

Then he said, "If you do what I say, you don't need to leave."

Emma was stunned for a sec, then laughed. "Mr. Russell, you want me to be your side chick while that skank Anna gets to be your wife? Is that it?"

George's face went ice-cold.

Emma's words hit the nail on the head. George didn't know why, but the idea of letting Emma go bugged him. He knew he'd never love her, so it had to be their chemistry in bed. So, why not keep her as a mistress?

Emma had drugged him and set this whole thing up just to marry him and live the high life, right? He was willing to keep her in luxury, and he figured she'd go for it.

But George didn't expect Emma to bite her lip and clench her fists. "George, I'll never let that bitch win, not unless I'm dead!"

With that, Emma bolted upstairs and locked herself in her room.

Her heart was racing, scared that if she hesitated, she'd beg George not to divorce her.

All she ever wanted was to stay by his side forever.

Emma couldn't stay in the villa anymore, afraid George would slap divorce papers in her face any second, so she hid away.

Emma's life got crazy busy; she buried herself in work, taking on commissions to scrape together money for Douglas's treatment.

But the pressure from the psych hospital was relentless, making her feel like she was drowning.

"Ms. Jones, can you come up with the treatment fees soon? Douglas's condition is getting worse," the nurse's voice on the phone was full of worry.

"I'll do my best, please give me a little more time," Emma said, trying to keep her voice steady despite the panic inside.

After hanging up, she slumped in her chair, feeling helpless and desperate. She knew time was running out; Douglas's condition could worsen any moment, and her income was nowhere near enough.

Finally, Emma gathered the courage to ask George for money. She knew it was a tough call, but she had no other choice.

George, as always, was at his desk, not even looking up.

"George, I need to talk to you," Emma said, her voice shaking.

"I have nothing to say to you," George's eyes were cold.

"My grandpa has lung cancer and needs $300,000 for treatment," Emma took a deep breath, trying to sound firm. "I need to borrow money from you."

"Borrow money?" George's face darkened. "NO WAY!"

"Please, this money is crucial for my grandpa's life." Emma's voice was desperate. "I'll pay you back as soon as I can."

"I might agree, but you know the terms," George's tone was icy, his eyes glinting with a scheme.

George still wanted her to be his mistress?!

Emma's heart skipped a beat, her face going pale. "I will never agree to that!"

"That's my only condition," George's voice was firm. "You can refuse, and I can refuse your request too."

Emma lowered her head, tears welling up. Then she heard another voice from above, "For Anna's sake, I'll give you a way out. If you're so desperate for money, you can make it by selling your body. With your looks, $300,000 shouldn't be hard to get."
