How could this be happening? Sophia busted her butt to get the Miss Lady brand to their jewelry exhibition, and now Raymond was saying he wasn't coming. Wasn't that breaking the contract?
She quickly changed her tone, "Mr. Carter, we signed a contract. You can't just back out."
Raymond, clearly pissed, shot back, "Yeah, we signed a contract. So why the hell wouldn't Ms. Anna Stuart let us in if you really wanted us there?"
What? Sophia was in shock. The guy she had been waiting for was right at the entrance, and Anna stopped him? How could this be?
Sophia rushed to the entrance with her staff in tow. Some curious guests followed, eager to see what had gotten Sophia so riled up. Was Anna causing trouble again?
The guests trailed behind Sophia out of the exhibition hall and saw two women and a man at the entrance. They immediately felt justified in their decision to follow, especially since the two women were Anna and Isabella. This was going to be interesting.
But the man wasn't George. Could it be that Anna and Isabella had a new target?
The guests quickly texted their friends, inviting them to come watch the drama. Soon, a crowd gathered at the entrance, all eyes on the unfolding scene. Everyone was eager to see what kind of drama would go down today.
The moment Sophia spotted Isabella, she directed her fury at her. "Ms. Taylor, I know you're the store manager of Miss Lady in Lakeside Haven, but I didn't invite you to this event. Why are you here?"
Even the onlookers found this hard to believe. Isabella was the manager of the only Miss Lady store in Lakeside Haven. How could Sophia hold a jewelry exhibition there and not invite her? What kind of logic was that? This Sophia must be really clueless, right?
Some partners even started to doubt Sophia's business skills. But Sophia was oblivious to this; she just glared coldly at Isabella, hoping to make her leave.
Unexpectedly, Emma wasn't scared at all. She just smiled and met her gaze. "Mrs. Stuart, are you sure you want me to leave?"
Sophia sneered and before she could respond, Raymond answered for her, "Since Mrs. Stuart doesn't want us here, we'll leave. It's you who broke the contract first, not us."
Sophia was fuming at Raymond's attitude. She had security stop Raymond and Emma. "Mr. Carter, I don't care if you want to leave, but your chief designer has to be here today, or we'll see you in court."
"Didn't you personally kick her out?" Raymond shot back.
"What did you say?" Sophia glanced disdainfully at Emma, "You mean Ms. Taylor is the chief designer? Mr. Carter, maybe you don't know Ms. Taylor well. She's always tried to ruin my daughter's marriage and is a low-character woman. Miss Lady's products could never have been designed by her."
Sophia's contemptuous gaze swept over Emma's face. "Mr. Carter, don't be fooled by Ms. Taylor's looks. You never know how dirty someone's heart can be, no matter how good they look."
Raymond shot Sophia a contemptuous look and then glanced at the slight flaw on Anna's face. "Mrs. Stuart, your words are pretty one-sided. Not only does Ms. Stuart not look good, but her heart is just as dirty."
"Let me make this clear: Isabella is our chief designer. Believe it or not, that's the truth. If you don't want Isabella to enter, we'll leave. And about the compensation, our legal team will be in touch." With that, Raymond gestured for Emma to leave. Emma placed her hand on Raymond's arm, and with his support, she got into her luxury car.
"Wait," Sophia called out to Raymond, her face twisted with anger. She never expected Isabella to be the chief designer of Miss Lady.
All these years, the jewelry that had taken the world by storm was designed by Isabella. Sophia was fuming, and Anna was practically losing her mind with rage.
She had wondered why Isabella hadn't left after being kicked out by security. It turned out that she was waiting for this.
Sophia felt humiliated but wasn't ready to give up. Even though she hadn't specifically invited Isabella, her invitation was sent to the chief designer of Miss Lady.
Why didn't Isabella enter with the invitation and instead waited outside to cause trouble? This was deliberate revenge!
Sophia's hatred for Isabella grew even stronger. She decided to tear off Isabella's hypocritical mask right now. She strutted up to Isabella in her high heels and pretended to ask kindly, "Ms. Taylor, may I see your invitation?"
Emma handed over the invitation without objection. Sophia took it, smiling, "Then may I ask, Ms. Taylor, since you have an invitation, why didn't you enter? Or do you think you're so important that we all have to come out to welcome you?"
Sophia's words were clearly provocative. She was trying to turn everyone against Isabella.
But Emma didn't care at all. She suggested, "Why don't we check the surveillance footage? You can see for yourself what happened, and maybe you'll understand why I didn't enter."
Emma left a suspenseful remark, but Anna didn't want the guests to watch. She feared her scheme would be exposed. "You can't watch it; the surveillance is broken!"
Anna mocked, "Ms. Taylor probably knew our surveillance was broken long ago, so she came to frame us on purpose. No wonder you're the mistress; you only know how to use underhanded tactics! If you can't provide evidence, we'll have to sue you, miss lady, for abusing your power and deliberately targeting us! Of course, you can settle this privately by publicly apologizing to us and giving the Stuart family a 30% discount. Then we won't pursue the matter further. How about that?"
Anna's relentless attitude amused Emma. "Are you so sure I can't provide evidence?"
"Then show us!"
"Alright, I'll show you right now." With that, Emma removed the car's dashcam, and the staff quickly connected the dashcam's memory card to the large screen on site.
The screen showed the entrance, and the high-resolution camera captured everything. People saw Isabella trying to enter but being stopped by security for various reasons, clearly making things difficult for her.
As for why a mere security would make things difficult for Emma, the answer was obvious.
