Chapter 384 Apology

"George," Emma choked out, "I swear, I didn't hurt Grandpa."

Marrying into the Russell family had been like living under Scarlett's shadow for Emma. From day one, Scarlett had imposed strict family rules and harsh demands, controlling every aspect of her life. All needed Scarlett's approval.

Emma loved George deeply, and to avoid putting him in a tough spot, she chose to endure it all. Every scolding, every look from Scarlett made her heart race with fear.

George stood at the hospital room door, his gaze shifting between Scarlett and Emma. Without hesitation, he strode over to Emma and helped her up.

"Emma, don't be scared," he said firmly but gently. "I believe you, no matter what."

Scarlett's eyes widened in disbelief. "George, are you out of your mind? The hospital confirmed that your grandfather was poisoned! She is the culprit!"

George coldly turned to Scarlett. "Yeah, he was poisoned. But does that mean it had to be Emma? Mom, Emma is the most innocent person in this family. If someone poisoned Grandpa, it wasn't her. I'm gonna get to the bottom of this! I want to see who's really behind this!"

Emma clutched George's hand. "George, I'm really scared."

"Trust me," George said, kissing her forehead. "I'll clear your name and find out the truth about Grandpa's poisoning."

Scarlett trembled with rage. "You'd rather believe an outsider than me?"

"Outsider?" George scoffed. "Emma is my wife, the most important person in this family to me. Mom, you owe her an apology!"

"Never!" Scarlett screamed.

"Apologize!" George exclaimed, "Or from today on, you won't get a single cent from me!"

Scarlett shook. She knew George well enough to know that once he made up his mind, he wouldn't change it.

"Fine," she gritted her teeth. "I won't hold her responsible for now. But your grandfather can't leave!"

George frowned. "Why can't he leave?"

A flicker of panic crossed Scarlett's eyes. "He needs professional care. The medical conditions here are better."

"Are you concerned about Grandpa's care," George sneered, "or the money I send every month?"

Emma tugged at George's sleeve, afraid of provoking Scarlett. Years of submission had made her instinctively want to avoid conflict.

"George," she whispered, "maybe we should discuss this further?"

George held her hand and whispered, "Trust me."

Those words gave Emma a surge of courage. She lifted her head, still scared but with a newfound determination in her eyes.

Scarlett noticed the change and felt a pang of anxiety.

George's voice was cold. "Grandpa is your family, not a tool for making money. This is final, no more discussion."

In the end, Scarlett had no choice but to agree reluctantly. "Fine. But you have to ensure I get my monthly allowance."

Emma lowered her head and responded instinctively, "Okay, Mom."

Even with Scarlett's apology and George by her side, Emma still felt the deep-seated fear. Years of oppression couldn't be erased overnight.

In the hospital room, an invisible battle had ended. Emma clung to George, her eyes filled with complex emotions. She gazed at George with deep affection.

It seemed that only George could truly protect her.

This time, Emma followed George to the doctor's office to handle the discharge paperwork.

As soon as Emma left the room, Scarlett's face twisted in confusion. This Emma was acting too strange.

Wasn't she fierce and arrogant before?

How did she turn back into the meek woman she was when they first got married?

She suddenly remembered hearing a rumor at the hospital before Charles was transferred. They said a very beautiful woman had lost her memory.

Could that woman be Emma?

Scarlett smirked. If Emma had really lost her memory, then as her mother-in-law, she would have to teach Emma a lesson!

She loved the meek Emma the most!

While handling Charles's discharge, his primary doctor, Emilio, looked unusually troubled. "Mr. George Russell, your grandfather's current condition isn't suitable for discharge. We recommend continued observation."

George's smart device, discreetly attached to his right eye, activated, instantly capturing Emilio's micro-expressions.

The intelligent system began a comprehensive scan: bank records, communication data, social networks. In just three minutes, a complex network of relationships appeared on George's personal computer.

"Detected suspicious fund transfer," the cold electronic voice sounded in his earpiece. "Tracking target: Scarlett, transfer amount $500,000."

George's system began hacking into the hospital's internal network. Within seconds, all of Emilio's communication records and bank transactions were displayed in high definition.

"Emilio," George said calmly, "I think you need to explain this suspicious transfer."

He lightly tapped his wristband, and Emilio's secret data was projected onto the office's holographic screen.

Transfer details, communication records, text messages, all laid bare.

Emilio collapsed. "Mr. George Russell, I can explain!"

"No need," George said coldly. "I only need results."

He tapped his wristband again, and a precise legal document was sent directly to the prosecutor's office via blockchain technology.

The entire process, from discovering the issue to resolving it, took less than fifteen minutes.

Emma stared at George in shock. "George, when did you get such high-tech equipment?"

George smiled. "After losing you once, I learned to be prepared."

Emma blushed, still not used to George's straightforwardness.

George gently wrapped his arm around Emma. "Let's go, let's take Grandpa home."

The discharge was complete, and everything was ready by evening.

Scarlett feigned concern as she watched the medical staff load Charles into the ambulance. She was curious to see how George and Emma would care for Charles once they got him home.

A half-dead man in a vegetative state was a waste of time and money!

But if Emma was willing to pay, Scarlett was all for it. However, if Emma thought she could get Charles's inheritance, that was absolutely out of the question!
