Chapter 293 Betrayer
Emma and Sophia were chatting in a corner of the photography museum. Their voices were low, and with the crowd bustling around them. Phoenix, who was standing at a distance, couldn't hear their conversation.
"Hey, it's really great to see you here," Sophia said with a warm smile, her eyes sparkling with genuine affection. "How've you been?"
"Not bad, just kinda busy," Emma replied softly.
Sophia could tell that Isabella was being evasive, but but she couldn't help but notice how much Isabella looked like Emma—they could have been twins. She even couldn't bear to be apart from Isabella.
A wave of complex emotions surged through Sophia. She couldn't help but glance at Isabella. The similarity between her and Emma wasn't just in their looks; it was in their demeanor and expressions, as if there was an invisible bond between them.
She felt a strong pull towards Isabella, an irresistible urge to get closer.
As time passed, Sophia's emotions grew more complicated. She reminisced about her past with Emma, filled with nostalgia and regret.
'If only Emma were here too,' Sophia thought to herself, a hint of sadness and remorse in her eyes. She had made mistakes in the past. If Emma were still alive, she would make amends.
But Emma was gone. She could no longer see Emma alive anymore, and could only channel her longing through Isabella. When she looked at Isabella, it felt like seeing Emma all over again.
'Maybe I could invite her for a coffee,' Sophia mused, a smile creeping onto her face. She wanted to get closer to Isabella, to learn as much as she could about this girl who was so much like Emma.
However, a sense of unease crept into Sophia's heart.
She knew she had done many wrong things to Isabella in the past. Her current attention could be misunderstood. She didn't want to get caught in a web of complicated emotions, but she couldn't help her desire to be close to Isabella.
'How should I face her?' Sophia was torn with inner conflict. She didn't want to be apart from Isabella, yet she feared the complications that might arise from her feelings.
Sophia's concerns were valid. Phoenix was watching them intently.
'Isabella is with people from the Stuart Group. Could she be colluding with them to harm the Russell Group?' Phoenix thought, a sinister smile forming on her lips.
She muttered to herself, "Isabella, I've finally caught you slipping! You will regret your actions. George's wrath towards traitors will be beyond your imagination!"
Phoenix quickly pulled out her phone and dialed George's number, her voice urgent, "George, you need to come to the photography museum right away!"
George was in his office, handling some work. Seeing Phoenix's call, he frowned slightly. He was fed up with Phoenix. If it weren't for Scarlett's threats and the fact that Phoenix was her cousin, he would have kicked her out long ago. Though he couldn't do anything to Phoenix now, he could at least avoid her. He hung up the call and continued with his work.
But Phoenix was persistent. She called several more times, and each time, George hung up. Eventually, he blocked her number, annoyed by her interference.
Phoenix was anxious but refused to give up. She knew she had to find a way to get George's attention. So, she started posting frequently on her social media.
Phoenix kept sharing updates with photos and captions that made it look like she and George were really tight.
[George is so busy; I wish he could spend more time with me.]
[George works so hard; I need to take good care of him.]
[George took me to the photography exhibit; I'm so happy!]
Her posts had a flirty tone, showcasing her supposed care and affection for George. In reality, her heart was filled with jealousy towards Isabella.
Of course, those who saw her posts didn't take them seriously. People had memories, and they hadn't forgotten George's attitude towards her.
The tech department monitored all employees' social accounts and quickly reported Phoenix's posts due to their connection to George.
George was irritated by Phoenix's behavior. He knew she was putting on a show, and he was well aware of her insincerity. Every time she tried to show concern, he felt nothing but disgust.
Phoenix's flattery was just a means to her own ends, and what he truly cared about was Emma's feelings.
George ordered, "Handle it. Wipe her social media clean of anything related to me."
"Yes, sir."
Phoenix had no idea what was happening. She had posted numerous photos of her and George on various platforms, but they all mysteriously disappeared. Even the information on her phone vanished.
Phoenix, though crazy, wasn't stupid. She realized a hacker had tampered with her phone.
With no other options, she called Joshua. "Joshua, you need to get George to the photography exhibit. Isabella and Sophia are together, and I think they're plotting something!"
Joshua's heart skipped a beat at the news. He knew the history between Isabella and Sophia. Though they had reconciled, there was always a chance Sophia might still harbor ill intentions.
"I'm on my way!" Joshua hung up and rushed to George's office.
George wasn't worried about Sophia causing trouble, but he feared Phoenix might harm Emma. He and Joshua hurriedly left the office and headed to the photography museum.
As George took his time, Phoenix grew impatient. She wanted to impress George, so she came up with a plan: stir up some drama by letting George catch Isabella and Sophia together. The goal was to make him suspicious of Isabella.
Therefore, she quickly dialed 911.
"I saw some suspicious people at the photography exhibit. They might be terrorists. Please send help immediately!" Phoenix's voice was filled with urgency and panic.
Soon, the police arrived, armed and ready, surrounding the entire museum.
The blaring sirens created a tense and oppressive atmosphere. The police swiftly took action, with the commanding officer's voice booming, "Everyone, evacuate immediately! Secure all exits!"
