Chapter 272 Double Death

"Move it!" Jerry whispered urgently, his heart pounding with anxiety.

Who knew where that bitch Emma was sending them?

Just as they were about to make a run for it, a group of people summoned by Emma surrounded them. Their faces were stern and unyielding as they forcibly escorted Jerry and Olivia towards the plane.

"Let me go! You can't do this!" Olivia struggled desperately, her voice tinged with despair, but it was no use. They were forced onto the plane.

Inside the plane, it was just Jerry, Olivia, and a few armed guards, who were expressionless, watching them with a vigilance that suggested they were ready to act at any moment.

"What are we gonna do?" Olivia asked in a low voice, her eyes glistening with fear.

"How should I know?" Jerry's voice trembled.

The plane flew through turbulence before finally descending onto a vast, open prairie. Jerry and Olivia felt a growing unease as they took in the unfamiliar surroundings.

"Are we there?" Olivia asked nervously, a hint of fear in her eyes.

Jerry exclaimed, "Where the hell are we?"

They were kicked off the plane by the guards before they could even get up. The roar of the plane's engines grew louder as it quickly took off, disappearing into the blue sky.

Jerry and Olivia were left stunned. They had been abandoned in the middle of nowhere!

The sun beat down on the land, the air thick with dryness. All around them was an endless expanse of golden grass, swaying in the wind and they felt the loneliness and desolation of this place. In the distance, a few solitary trees stood under the scorching sun, their twisted trunks and sparse leaves silently bearing the ravages of time.

They stood where the plane had landed, feeling incredibly small against the vast landscape. There was no shelter, just endless grass and the occasional bird flying by. The sunlight was blinding, making their eyes ache, and the dry air felt suffocating.

"This place is so desolate," Olivia looked around, her heart full of unease.

"Yeah, there's no sign of life anywhere," Jerry's voice was low, filled with fear as well. They had been abandoned in this strange place, and the silence around them made them feel incredibly lonely.

As time passed, the desolation of the prairie became more apparent. The sun beat down on their skin, waves of heat making it hard to breathe. Their hearts were filled with unease, as if they could be swallowed by this wilderness at any moment.

"What are we gonna do?" Olivia's voice was tinged with despair, her eyes brimming with tears. She clung tightly to Jerry.

"I don't know," Jerry's voice was weak, filled with helplessness.

Just then, a noise behind them caught their attention. They slowly turned around to see a lion staring at them intently, exuding a strong sense of threat. The lion's golden mane glistened in the sunlight, its eyes fierce, as if declaring this was its territory.

"Run!" Jerry shouted in terror.

They turned and ran.

The lion pursued them relentlessly, occasionally speeding up or slowing down, as if toying with its helpless prey. It clearly seemed to enjoy the chase.

"Don't stop!" Jerry gasped, his voice filled with despair. His legs felt incredibly heavy, his heart full of fear. Olivia, beside him, was pale, clearly struggling to keep up.

She said, panting. "I can't run anymore!"

"Then die!" Jerry, slightly more fit than Olivia, saw her faltering and pushed her down, hoping to trip up the lion.

If the lion ate Olivia, it wouldn't eat him!

"You bastard" Olivia finally understood what it felt like to be betrayed by family.

She thought of all the times she had been cold and disdainful towards Emma, her heart filled with regret. She realized now how foolish and selfish she had been.

As she lay on the ground in despair, the lion slowly approached, its gaze piercing. It walked with a steady, graceful stride, savoring its victory. Olivia felt an invisible pressure, her heart filled with fear.

The lion stopped in front of her, opening its massive jaws to reveal sharp teeth.

"Am I really going to die?" Olivia's heart was filled with unwillingness and fear.

Her life felt so fragile at this moment, without even the strength to fight back.

Olivia watched Jerry stumble away, her hatred giving her legs strength. She suddenly stood up and charged at Jerry, tackling him to the ground.

If she was going to die, they would die together!

Meantime, the Russell Mansion

"I can't believe Anna was a fraud. Good thing you only had a wedding ceremony without actually registering the marriage. Otherwise, our family would be stuck with that bitch," Scarlett said, feeling a sense of relief.

George just watched coldly, saying nothing.

Scarlett knew she was in the wrong. She vividly remembered forcing George to marry Anna, so she didn't dare mention Anna again. Instead, she continued to push for marriage. "George, I have a few good friends with excellent daughters. You should meet them when you have time."

As she spoke, Scarlett pulled out a stack of photos for George to choose from.

George took the photos, and Scarlett's face lit up with joy. She had been worried that George, after getting rid of Anna, would get involved with Isabella again. But now it seemed George's feelings for Isabella weren't that deep after all.

"Mom, why do I have to get married?" George asked coldly.

"You need to have an heir for the Russell family!" Scarlett said anxiously.

"But we already have Lucas." George replied.

Scarlett snorted, clearly displeased with Lucas's background. "What kind of good child could Anna produce? Lucas will grow up to be no good, probably a murderer like Anna!"

Scarlett didn't lower her voice at all. The spacious Russell Mansion echoed her words, making them clear as day to Lucas.

The scandal with Anna had spread among the servants, and Lucas had heard plenty of rumors. But the young boy couldn't understand how Anna's actions would affect his life.

After all, he and Anna had never gotten along. With Anna in prison, Lucas was actually the happiest, finally free from being locked up and punished without food.

So why did everyone say he was pitiful?

Lucas didn't understand.
