Chapter 609 Wanda Appears

"Mom! Is that red plane ours?"

"No, sweetie, we're taking the blue one."

"It's so big! Bigger than my building blocks!"

As they boarded, Lucas clung tightly to Emma's hand, his little face tense. But when the flight attendant knelt down to pin a "Junior Pilot" badge on him, he immediately brightened up.

When the plane took off, Lucas was scared and burrowed into Sophia's arms, but soon he was captivated by the clouds outside the window. "Mom! We're flying over cotton candy!"

Emma gazed at the clouds and suddenly thought of Seraphine. If that sweet girl were still here, she'd be just as excited as Lucas.

"Emma?" Sophia noticed Emma's change in demeanor and gently held her hand.

Emma forced a smile. "I'm okay."

During their layover in Sunterra, Lucas was already asleep in his grandfather's arms. Emma went to the restroom and, upon returning, saw a familiar figure in the crowd. The woman wore sunglasses, but her walk and the lower half of her face were unmistakably similar to Emma's.

"Wanda!" Emma's blood ran cold.

The woman seemed to hear her, hesitated for a moment, then quickly disappeared around a corner.

Emma instinctively wanted to chase after her but was interrupted by the airport announcement: "Attention passengers traveling to London."

She stood there, her hands trembling uncontrollably. It was definitely Wanda!

"Emma? What's wrong?" Henry approached, holding the sleeping Lucas.

"Dad, I saw her," Emma's voice quivered, "just now."

Henry's face turned pale. "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely." Emma's eyes were filled with determination. "I'm staying here."

Sophia immediately responded, "We'll stay with you."

"No, you take Lucas and continue the trip." Emma glanced at Lucas's peaceful face. "We can't involve him in any danger. You guys enjoy a few days and then return home. I'll keep in touch."

Henry thought for a moment and finally nodded. "Alright, I'll contact friends in Sunterra to arrange support for you."

Meanwhile, at George's safe house.

"It's confirmed, Wanda is in Sunterra." The assistant handed over a file. "These are the places she's been spotted recently."

George stared at the information, his eyes dark. "Book the next flight."

"But Mr. Russell, you have an appointment this afternoon..."

"Cancel it." George stood up and grabbed his coat. "I need to settle Seraphine's score personally."

The assistant had never seen George look so terrifying and hurried to arrange the trip.

George stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the distant skyline.

He finally had the chance to seek justice for Seraphine. Thinking of that innocent, sweet girl, his heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand.

Sunterra's sky was gloomy, as if it could collapse at any moment. Emma stood by the hotel window, her fingers unconsciously rubbing her phone screen. Henry's friend was efficient; within 24 hours, they had found traces of Wanda. She had been frequenting an underground casino in the old town.

"Ms. Stuart, our people are watching the back door of the casino." The voice on the phone was steady, "But I advise you not to act rashly. That place is full of shady characters..."

"I know what I'm doing." Emma interrupted, gripping the curtain tightly. "Send me the exact address."

After hanging up, she took a deep breath. Her reflection in the mirror was pale, but her eyes were fiercely bright.

Finally...

The cobblestone streets of the old town were damp, the air filled with the scent of cheap perfume mixed with alcohol. Emma tightened her coat and followed the navigation into a dark alley. The neon sign of the casino flickered, and two burly men at the door eyed the passersby.

"Hey, lady, this ain't a place for tourists," one of the men said, blocking her path and giving her a once-over.

Emma suppressed her discomfort and pulled out a wad of cash from her bag. "I'm looking for someone."

The cash disappeared into the man's pocket, and the iron door opened.

Inside the casino, smoke filled the air, and the sound of roulette wheels was constant. Emma pretended to casually survey the room and suddenly spotted a familiar figure in the VIP area. Wanda, wearing a sequined dress, was leaning over to whisper in a bald man's ear, her snake-shaped ring glinting in the light.

Emma's nails dug into her palm. Now was the time! She was about to move forward when a hand suddenly pressed on her shoulder.

"Don't move." It was the bodyguard sent by the Stuart family. "We're being watched."

Sure enough, several tattooed men in the corner were staring at them. Wanda seemed to sense something and looked around. Emma quickly turned and hid behind a pillar.

"She's heading out the back door!" the bodyguard whispered urgently.

Emma didn't hesitate and ran after her. The back door led to a maze of alleys, Wanda's high heels clicking urgently ahead. Turning a corner, Emma abruptly stopped. Wanda was holding a silver handgun, the barrel pointed directly at her!

"Long time no see, Ms. Stuart." Wanda's smile was seductive, her finger on the trigger. "Chasing me all the way here, you must really want to see me?"

Emma's blood froze, but she forced a cold smile. "Wanda, you can't escape."

"Really?" Wanda tilted her head. "I made Seraphine disappear, and I can make you..."

Before she could finish, a dark figure lunged at her!

The gunshot echoed in the alley, and Emma was slammed against the wall. The expected pain didn't come. She opened her eyes to see George gripping Wanda's wrist tightly, the gun now lying in a puddle.

"George?" Wanda's face turned pale, her voice trembling.

George's eyes were colder than the gun barrel. "You owe Seraphine a life, and it's time to pay."

In that moment of confrontation, footsteps suddenly echoed from both ends of the alley. Wanda took the chance to stomp on George's foot, breaking free and running towards a side street.

"Stop!" Emma wanted to chase, but George pulled her back.

"Don't! Her men are coming!"

Sure enough, seven or eight burly men with clubs were closing in from the alley entrance. George dragged Emma into a nearby iron door, locking it behind them. In the darkness, they pressed against the wall, listening to the thugs' curses outside.

"What are you doing here?" Emma whispered urgently.

George's breath was warm against her ear. "Same as you."

The iron door rattled under the assault, and Emma realized they were in an abandoned warehouse. Moonlight streamed through a broken window, highlighting George's tense jawline.

It hadn't been long since they last met, but George's eyes held more depth and mystery than she could understand.
